California prisons begin moving hundreds of transgender women requesting transfer under new law

www.latimes.com/california/story/2021-04-05/california-prisons-consider-gender-identity-housing-requests

Archived version archive.md/9T3zo#selection-1983.9-1983.104

I know we've talked a lot already about prisons, but this just makes me sick. Those poor women :(

From the article:

But more than two hours away, at the Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla, there’s fear. Inmates say guards have warned them that “men are coming” and to expect sexual violence.

“That if we think it’s bad now, be prepared for the worst. That it’s going to be off the hook, it’s going to be jumping,” Tomiekia Johnson, 41, said staffers have told her. “They say we’re going to need a facility that’s going to be like a maternity ward. They say we’re going to have an inmate program where inmates become nannies.” Hmm

Any women showing concern are 'transphobic' and need to be ''educated''.

Although advocates and inmates say the transfers have been received well, several claim that misinformation spread by prison staffers is stirring up transphobia and that more must be done to educate inmates.

Transwomen need and deserve to be kept safe too, that should go without saying, but putting one vulnerable group in danger to keep another safe is not the answer. Predators absolutely will exploit this.

I hope a class action lawsuit is on the horizon, but how many women will have to be harmed before it comes to that?

@RedDogsBeg

The prison service and justice (Home office) need to get priorities right Sadly most are male civil servants who feel they have to appease PC madness.

I don't think it is because they feel they have to appease PC madness rather it is that they genuinely do not care one iota about women, they are misogynistic to their very core, only men and their wants and wishes are worthy of consideration. The only women who make the grade as second class citizens in their view are the ones who agree with them, put men's wants and wishes at the top of the pile and are craven and submissive to the mighty male, the rest of us don't qualify.

@RedDogsBeg you put it is more sceptical terminology than i dare.

I live as male, although sadly all too aware of life as a woman (am Intersex)

And you are sadly spot on in these "Ministries" of Government. The women who do get senior roles comply to that system, and yes they have allowed women to be undermined by "trans women", (biological males)

This is a tipping point, and even men are becoming aware of the madness, so YES both women and men must ensure that madness is brought to an end.

I sadly have to saw that a great deal of women show sympathy for the plight of some "trans women". I find myself in many arguments on this matter... society as a whole must stand up for common sense and common decency for women.

We all had mothers, so that common respect for women MUST prevail.

RedDogsBeg · 08/04/2021 13:49

you put it is more sceptical terminology than i dare I've ditched the niceties and thinking that people are doing it from the best of intentions as it's become blatantly obvious that they are not.

This is a tipping point, and even men are becoming aware of the madness, so YES both women and men must ensure that madness is brought to an end. I fervently hope that it is, the damage that has already been wreaked is bad enough if it is allowed or encouraged to continue it will be horrific.

I agree totally @RedDogsBeg.

It is already horrific to be aware that even today there are biological males, some convicted sex offenders, who are in female prisons, dressed as women, living their fantasy and a REAL threat to women.

Enough is enough and the Prison service, the Home Office and Ministry of Justice, are ALL aware, I have had correspondence via my MP regarding this, and legislation has to be drawn up ASAP.

Thankfully this Gov. is trying to turn the tide, both on puberty blockers following the Tavistock issues, and High Court Ruling, and the Self ID madness. there is a long way to go.

I firmly believe the UK electorate supports common sense and women's rights on this matter FULLY.

Ninkanink · 08/04/2021 14:19

Truth. Reality. Liberty.

These are the overarching principles here.

I will not deny truth. I will not speak words compelled upon me. I will not be complicit in this lie, this oppression, this injustice.

My head might at times be bloody, but it will remain unbowed.

RedDogsBeg · 08/04/2021 14:19

I agree with you that the overwhelming majority of the UK electorate supports common sense and women's rights, unfortunately the extremely vocal minority that don't are very, very, loud and appear to be the only voices that the powers that be hear.

How many times are people going to be shocked and surprised by the outcome of elections, referendums and opinion polls when the general public make their views known?

Indeed @RedDogsBeg

those who shout loudest get the publicity of MSM like BBC.

and BOOM they all got a wake up call in EU referendum, and Dec 2019 general election, when the silent majority used their right to democracy to ensure that common sense was respected.

I do believe that the tide has turned politically that electorate cannot be ignored.

In this matter trans ideology is on the wrong side of common sense and democracy, The issue is rising in the political key issues stakes.

Labour keep getting fingers burned when setting policies that support Self ID etc, the Lib Dems, for what its worth, totally lost support by stating "trans women" are "women" in leadership elections.

The loud voices will not prevail.

Common sense will prevail, and these "trans women" will have to accept we all have equal rights, and they must respect women's basic rights.

I've just fallen across this abstract (first one, left hand side) while searching for something else and it reports that 1 in 4 US women may experience an early life sexual trauma:

agsjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/jgs.16431

Given the disproportionate numbers of incarcerated women who have experienced abuse and trauma I thought this is additional information about the general vulnerability of women in the US.

They say they'll need to set up maternity facilities in the prisons...

There's a transfer who has been in the female estate since May 2020. Jessica Marie Hann. Hann is in prison for beating Hann's own 2 children to death. A 2 month old, and a 10 month old. Now housed in the same prison as the children's mother, Krissy Lynn Werntz.

They had another child too. Officers found the couple living in Portland, Maine, and discovered that their latest offspring, a one-month-old, was suffering from physical abuse.

thepostmillennial.com/notorious-baby-killer-among-biological-males-granted-transfers-to-womens-prisons

Some of this article repeats paragraphs from the one in the OP, but there are some new ones too.

In Washington state, a biological male who identifies as female and has been convicted and incarcerated for sex crimes was moved to a women's prison allegedly raped a female inmate. The policy of allowing biological men who say they are women into women's prisons has resulted in rape.

So when they say they'll take the nature of the crimes in to consideration before transferring TW, apparently they don't consider someone being in prison for sex crimes to be much of a danger to women... Hmm

This was after it was reported that six inmates transferred from men's correctional facilities into women's. Dori Monson, of KIRO Radio, reported that "Among the inmates transferred to the women's facility is Donna Perry, formerly known as Douglas Perry, who was convicted for killing three sex workers. Before being charged, Perry reportedly went to Thailand for gender reassignment surgery. Prosecutors during the trial claimed that Perry had undergone the surgery to avoid suspicion for the killings."

And

An employee at the Washington Corrections Center for Women in Pierce County reported that upon arrival to that facility, a biological male inmate who claims a female identity raped a female inmate.

I'm so fucking angry.

OP posts:
Alex2112 · 08/04/2021 19:56

i share your anger @yourhairiswinterfire.

Any right minded human being would have serious issues thinking that ANY civil society would allow this MAN to have access to female only prisons. The man should be in isolation, NOT dressing as a woman and free to rape female inmates, it is beyond logical belief?

And we get called "bigots" , "Terfs" and "transphobes " for suggesting this trans ideology is wrong.

ARGHHHH ...

The helplessness is so frustrating. Not being able to do anything to help these women, to put a stop to this right now. I can't even begin to imagine how it feels for them :(

The powers that be allowing this...I just don't know how they fucking sleep at night.

More than happy to keep you in loop, sadly I have a little relevant experience. The powers that are allowing it will, eventually, have to stop this ....

MichelleofzeResistance · 08/04/2021 20:24

The policy of allowing biological men who say they are women into women's prisons has resulted in rape.

Which shows, it's considered something that it's acceptable to happen to women in the meeting of the so very important needs of transwomen.

Females being raped is just collateral damage, and clearly not much of a problem to anyone.

Except the raped female. #onlyfemales

MichelleofzeResistance · 08/04/2021 20:36

I think what I find worst of all of this is the proof of the absolute contempt for female people.

There's no consideration or care or the faintest interest in their welfare - just anger if they dare to protest illtreatment.

There's not the faintest pretense at equality of consideration or values with that poured all over people born male. It's not even necessary to make the slightest gesture or appearance of caring, it's fully acceptable in society to just plain not give a fuck at all what happens to them. Animals get more consideration and human compassion.

Evidence of harm to females causes no shock, no rush to look at what went wrong, no questioning at all. It's not even regarded as a failure or something to be ashamed of or considered a problem. Making male born people what they choose apparently just involves female bodies getting hurt, and how dare female people want to be excused this duty? (Which is specific to their sexed biology, but we're supposed to say there's no such thing.)

And again notice the absolute lack of any sense of sisterhood or the faintest, remotest glimmer of interest in women's rights, women's wellbeing, women's issues, by those born male who insist entry to women's spaces by their being women. My God does it say a lot.

Who was the MoJ Civil Servant who lost her job for writing inconvenient reports and asking inconvenient questions, iirc?

manatsu · 08/04/2021 20:56

I really, really, really don't understand how anyone can support this and not think there are any potential problems or dangers and think they're doing the right thing. Obviously I understand wanting to protect trans inmates, but you can't just ship male prisoners who suddenly claim to be trans wholesale over to women's prisons. It makes me so angry.

To me it is state sanctioned rape and sexual assault, no more no less.

All the hand wringing and outrage when women are raped en masse in theatres of war, the back slapping and high fives when the Government of the day were involved in getting rape recognised as war crime. Yet back home in good old Blighty female prisoners are served up as objects to be raped and sexually abused with no means of escape and it's deemed part of a progressive agenda. Fucking hypocrites and misogynists every last one of them.

I wish you well with this Alex2112, you have my support and I'd be happy to help if I can, I promise I can be more polite and diplomatic if required! The findings of the ongoing case against the MoJ will be very interesting and I hope will recognise this appalling state of affairs for exactly what it is.

BlaBlaSmthSmth · 08/04/2021 21:18

The more I read about this the more angry I get. Women need to get men out of power. They've shown time and again that they are incapable hateful animals, every chance they get to abuse women they take with utter glee. Force the fuckers out of power and cage man until they learn how to behave in decent society.

MichelleofzeResistance · 08/04/2021 21:24

Quite.

The people making these decisions and congratulating themselves on their own progressiveness can provide themselves if female. Their bodies, their choice. No one should be enforcing the provision of the body of a non consenting female to validate their personal political agenda. It's time to face the truth of this, and stop hiding behind nonsense about it being 'humanity'. No, it's not humanity, it's medieval in its misogyny.

RedDogsBeg · 08/04/2021 21:41

It truly is medieval, Michelle.

Every time a politician sheds crocodile tears about VAWG they need to be reminded is it policy in UK Prisons and they don't give a damn about it.

HeirloomTomato · 08/04/2021 22:01

I agree & to be more specific: females of a lower socio-economic class being raped is just collateral damage. There are women as well as men who support this policy in California and they will be supporting it because getting the associated virtue signaling credentials matters more to them than protecting low-income vulnerable women of color in the prison system. They can overlook the resulting rapes & assaults because they'll be happening to women who are so remote from their own experience that they barely see them as human. They'll never be going to jail. That's something that happens to the poors so it doesn't matter to them.

Perhaps those liberal, TWAW, shouting feminists and their allies could tell us why:

  1. Those black lives don't matter
  2. Those women's lives don't matter

come on own up and own what you are doing to women and particularly women of colour, I dare you.
