"The GLAAD Accountability Project catalogs anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and discriminatory actions of politicians, commentators, organization heads, religious leaders, and legal figures, who have used their platforms, influence and power to spread misinformation and harm LGBTQ people."

Obviously they've included GC people on this list and taken their words out of context, for example heres JK Rowlings page www.glaad.org/gap/jk-rowling
archive.is/wip/KPKtL

They've taken her words out of context and haven't linked to the orginal sources like her letter about DV. Also whats the point in reading someones book when you can just quote from an incorrect telegraph article about it.

The hit list is back!

GoingThruTheMotions · 06/04/2021 11:58

Well I expect this to be trotted out as 'evidence' at some point. Nothing new or remotely transphobic though so good to know.

MichelleofzeResistance · 06/04/2021 12:00

Well that's not sinister and reminiscent of other 'lists' at all, is it? Confused Increasingly strange behaviour.

MichelleofzeResistance · 06/04/2021 12:01

Will also be interesting to see how much of this 'anti' stuff could simply be recategorised as 'recognising the needs of female people'.

Kit19 · 06/04/2021 12:09

"your name is going down in the book"

perhaps the next stage is to brand people with a letter

MichelleofzeResistance · 06/04/2021 12:14

"Don't tell him, Pike!"

Sophoclesthefox · 06/04/2021 12:25

I assume that the natural evolution of this is to get them in front of some sort of committee, and get some incisive questioning going, like, oooh, I dunno, “are you now, or have you ever been a member of A woman’s place”?

I’m sure there’s some sort of model or template they could use, if I could just put my finger on where I’d seen it before...

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 06/04/2021 12:31

fucking hell.

NotTerfNorCis · 06/04/2021 13:29

Looking at their page on JK, there's absolutely nothing wrong with what she said. Certainly nothing hateful or 'phobic'.

highame · 06/04/2021 13:37

I think we should all offer our names up. Wonder how that will play out Grin

HermitsLife · 06/04/2021 13:45

I was listening to Jesse Singal on Blocked and Reported speaking about this. He's on the list too because of his journalism. It is sinister and dangerous.

A quick Google search shows that people can report grom Twitter so basically anyone who is persona non grata can end up on the list. I wonder ig LOJ will end up on there for his recent nasty lesphobic tweets?

BeanieSue · 06/04/2021 13:48

Germaine Greer is on there too.

chillied · 06/04/2021 13:55

Yes - this isn't about Jo's quotes being 'out of context'. Even out of context her quotes make sense, are reasonable, are compassionate and are not transphobic.
Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 06/04/2021 13:55

It's the new McCarthyism.

PronounssheRa · 06/04/2021 14:04

Ah, a list of people guilty of wrong think. How progressive.

Do they have any idea how this looks, at all.

I'm guessing the idea is to create fear to prevent other people from speaking.

Sophoclesthefox · 06/04/2021 14:42

Thumbs up from Jo here.

GLAAD have published an "accountability project"
DaisiesandButtercups · 06/04/2021 15:10

I see Helen Lewis, Debra Soh and Abigail Shrier also listed as well as Jo Rowling and Germaine Greer. Most of the names are unknown to me apart from those and a few US politicians.

I wonder how long before there is a list including names of private citizens...

Anyone read the book thief? Didn’t the parents of the main character hold objectionable views?

Along with the book burnings it all feels rather disturbing.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/04/2021 15:23

Any chance they'll have an 'accountability project' for anyone who engages in violent threats (inc sexual violence) and actions?

Defaultname · 06/04/2021 15:46

GLAAD'S theme-song:

"I'm tired of moanin'...".

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 06/04/2021 16:05

Like anyone in GLAAD gives a fuck about the L.

SunsetBeetch · 06/04/2021 16:25

@EmpressWitchDoesntBurn

Like anyone in GLAAD gives a fuck about the L.
Quite.

God, this is so, so sinister. Frankly, who do they think they are?

toffeebutterpopcorn · 06/04/2021 16:26

Not clicking - who are these people? What are they for?

SunsetBeetch · 06/04/2021 16:36

GLAAD is an American non-governmental media monitoring organization, founded as a protest against defamatory coverage of LGBT people. Its agenda has since extended to the entertainment industry and its portrayal of these groups."

They also hold award ceremonies, one of which Dawn Butler, Labour MP, attended.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 06/04/2021 16:40

I’m going to set up my own little list then.

‘Enemies of TBC’ there may be a ‘Friends of TBC’ one too.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/04/2021 19:40

I see Helen Lewis

Helen's (who I do nevertheless admire) "true trans" TWAW views go much less far than many. Proof that only 100% compliance is ever acceptable.
