New research on Brain sex differences

Sorry if this has already been posted...

www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0149763421000804

Highlights

Meta-synthesis of 3 decades of human brain sex difference findings.

Few male/female differences survive correction for brain size.

When present, sex accounts for about 1% of variance in structure or laterality.

Male and female brains are monomorphic, not dimorphic, in structure and function.

So basically, another study shows there is no such thing as lady brain, so we have sexually dimorphic bodies and monomorphic brains.... the trans activists arguments for men actually being women are really standing to fall down, one after the other.... good.

A Twitter thread.... from one of the researchers

Thought it was interesting. It also highlights that it’s pure sexism when men use the argument of brain differences in why women shouldn’t do certain things.

There was another thread but it hasn't many posts on it so it dropped down the list.

Thanks, I hope this new study helps put the regressive “lady brain” nonsense to bed.

House of cards maybe looking a little shaky?

Thanks OP, that's an interesting paper, seems very comprehensive although someone more academic/scientific than me will be better able to judge if its a good paper!

So basically brains are just brains, but if you're male your brain is likely to be bigger than if you're female because it has to match your bigger body. And that size difference accounts for virtually every variation found. And for every piece of research that found variation between sexes, another one didn't, with the more recent ones with better methods leaning towards finding minimal variation. So brain differences are more like height differences, just a natural range with an overlap between sexes.

It's certainly starting to feel that way. I'm starting to feel much braver about broaching the subject in real life.
