What would be brilliant next is if Janice Turner could write an article on the true cost of Stonewall.

Just how much is this trans-lobby costing the UK tax payer? And how much does that equate to per person with a GRC?

As well as the £9 million funding they get a year, there's all the money our public bodies spend on becoming Stonewall champions and the hidden but presumably massive costs of all the hours spent doing all the lengthy paperwork involved in being a champion.

Then there's the massive costs of all the recent legal challenges.

It would take a huge amount of work to get anywhere near an accurate figure, but I do think it would be a massive eye-opener for a lot of people to see how much public money is being wasted on trying to roll back women's rights.

@BernardBlackMissesLangCleg

New Years Honour for Nic Williams?

Dr Nicola Williams OBE for services to women’s rights and general sanity. Sounds good, no?

Amazing news

That does sound good Grin

Well done and thank you so much FPFW. Bloody good news Flowers

@Clariana

Can someone post a link to the letter to send with the paper copy of the census please? I can't find it.
This is it sexinthecensus.org/on-census-night/ I am going to see if the recommended wording changes as a result of the ruling, and if not I think I will change the wording to acknowledge it.

There is still something to be gained by sending the letter:
-it makes them acknowledge the difference between sex & legal sex. If alot if ppl ask them to store their data as biological sex /sex registered at birth as distinct from sex on a grc, and ask for a response to this.
-it gives us a chance to explain why we didn't answer the gender identity question (for those who didn't), and to ask them to take that into account when looking at how many ppl answered it.
-it tells them lots of ppl are engaging on this.

Graffitiqueen · 17/03/2021 10:52

They need to know that women will not compromise and there will be strong fight back against the erasure of our sex. #sexmatters #sexnotgender

Manderleyagain · 17/03/2021 10:53

I think I will also take this as an opportunity to write to my MP again, and ask why the cabinet office (no. 10), the government legal department, ehrc and NHS all supported the ons in providing unlawful guidence for the census.

Leafstamp · 17/03/2021 11:26

As PP have said there needs to be questions answered here.

I’d urge people to use this as an opportunity to write to MPs, submit FOI requests etc etc.

Have a look on the daily acts of feminism thread.

We must keep up momentum!

WeRoarSometimes · 17/03/2021 11:28

Apologies to piggyback on this thread, I know it's cheeky but there are so many posters here.
The Women's Aid petition still needs thousands of more signatures so that it can solicit a response from the government.

If any of you could sign it and share with any of the women you know, I'd be so grateful.

I can't post the direct link but the title of the petition is:
Require local authorities to fund specific domestic abuse services for women

I'll delete this post if it bothers any of you.

Ninkanink · 17/03/2021 11:29

I’m sure no one will mind!

SunsetBeetch · 17/03/2021 11:32

Brilliant! Wine

SunsetBeetch · 17/03/2021 11:33

I wonder what all those TRAs who have already filled it in and put their sex as female are going to do?

Why not start a separate thread about this?
Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/03/2021 11:41

Happy to sign and share the petition and no need to delete but agree it needs a separate thread.

Purpletomato · 17/03/2021 11:43

Well done, great news.

LetsTalkAboutSexBabyNotGender · 17/03/2021 11:48

Thank fuck sanity is starting to prevail.

I'm happy my donation will be kept whether already used towards for this case, or other future requirements. The tax I have paid towards this case on the other hand....

Imnobody4 · 17/03/2021 11:56

Good article - this ruling must follow through to all statistcs

Fantastic news in a gloomy week. Shameful that women have to pay to fight for their rights and for government departments to do their jobs properly. I see that the impartial BBC is racing to announce this on their news website.....🙄

Ninkanink · 17/03/2021 12:09

I am so angry! Let me be clear - I’m not frightened at all. They’ll never silence us all. My head might sometimes be bloody but it will remain unbowed, always. But I am absolutely furious that it has actually come to this.

Shame on all those who should have performed their due diligence in upholding the law (because we DO STILL HAVE rights and protections in law!) and who continue to act illegally.

Private Eye's take

FPFW: ONS concede defeat!
Coffeeandcocopops · 17/03/2021 12:27

Happy to sign petition.

Beowulfa · 17/03/2021 12:31

Private Eye have to be careful, but they are definitely sane on this issue.

Abigail Shrier's book got a positive review recently (normally titles are only selected in order to be given a good kicking), with it noted that it had pointedly not been reviewed in the Guardian.

PurpleHoodie · 17/03/2021 12:32

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-47369498

Well, well, well.

Guess what?

DerryWitch · 17/03/2021 12:43

That's right, they threw in the towel as it was obvious from the initial hearing they hadn't a leg to stand on.

RedDogsBeg · 17/03/2021 12:43

This is great news, it has set a marker down that can be used in future.

My only disappointment is that I was looking forward to finding out what social sex is, is there unsocial sex? We really do need to know and I'm sure the learned Judge would also love another notch on his suprise-ometer.
