Bristol gender critical / radfem groups?

Yeval · 14/03/2021 20:48

I'm based in Bristol and wondering if anyone knows of any gender critical or radfem groups in the area? I think there was a Bristol branch of ReSisters, but their Twitter profile no longer exists. I just need to meet up with some like-minded women...

Hi all- this is a heads up for the latest posts on the BERG blog-

A follow up letter on behalf of a parent to Cathedral school (Bristol) drawing their attention to Transgender Trend's new analysis of Just Like Us and their resources for schools: www.transgendertrend.com/just-like-us-factsheet/

Our blog and letters to schools is designed for parents concerned about how schools are promoting gender ideology and confusing sex with gender identity. Do check the letters and resources for links you may find useful.

Pub/cafe meet up?

TheTamingOfTheresa · 17/06/2023 12:50

I’m up for a meeting x

terfsintown · 17/06/2023 17:45

Me too 😀

greennugget · 17/06/2023 18:49

I'm in Bristol!

Yeval · 17/06/2023 19:40

I'm still here and so up for meeting!

toomuchcarrotcake · 17/06/2023 19:56

Another Bristolian here who would be up for meeting!

Itsadilemma · 17/06/2023 20:11

I'm in Somerset, about an hour from Bristol and am also interested.

Yeval · 17/06/2023 21:30

How do we do this?

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 17/06/2023 22:26

Best of luck all of you but do be careful. We know the TRAs are watching.

Agree with EmpressWitchDoesntBurn.
People aren't always who they say they are on here.
If you're interested in other local women, may I suggest getting in touch with the Women's Rights Network? They're very on the ball and will have a call with prospective joiners before admitting so its much harder for TRAs to hijack any meeting in bad faith.

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 18/06/2023 08:38

WRN is a really good idea, and they’re a lot bigger now than they would have been when this thread started.

Yeval · 18/06/2023 11:03

I did actually join WRN but got kicked out because I wasn't engaging enough with social media campaigns! Totally fair enough.

Really I'd just like to meet some like minded women for social stuff, which will of course include being able to talk freely about gender identity ideology.

OP posts:
LadyWhipster · 18/06/2023 23:38

Good to see some response. I shall look into joining WRN but similarly I dont want to feel I have to be 'engaging' with everything on social media.
I hear what you're saying about being careful. But I too would like a less 'formal' interaction with some of you, so I'd like to try...
We could hold a zoom. We could form an encrypted private chat group on one of the platforms and swap contact details there for meeting up for a coffee or a drink. It's all a risk, but f.i., I'll risk it for a Swisket. Any other ideas anyone?
I'm central Bristol and mobile btw.

Hi Empress :) Do you mean you know they've been following this thread?...Have you had trouble with them already? (Forgive me if I seem naive or uninformed here...I've only recently 'peaked' lol)

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 19/06/2023 06:26

I don’t know about this thread specifically but I do know there are a bunch of TRAs - I call them the Misogynist Monitors - who make it their business to keep an eye on this board. Anything they don’t like gets reported or sometimes screenshotted on Twitter.

You just don’t know, that’s the thing.

oldwomanwhoruns · 19/06/2023 07:22

Do join the Women's Rights Network! The branches will be slightly different @Yeval , we certainly have several members who just are not in a position to put their heads above the parapet. So not everyone can be activists!

Our group meet up in person, and we talk about absolutely everything, not just the latest campaign. We are all now firm friends.

Did I mention cake?
😋

That's disappointing. Some people can invest a lot of time, others not so much. Doesn't mean they don't want to keep up with what's going on or meet like minded people and generally add their voice and add to the numbers. I'm sorry this happened.

Yeval · 19/06/2023 08:50

I sort of get it. I was added to a group chat on Twitter but the messages were constant and I just couldn't keep up with them so stopped engaging entirely. I didn't have the headspace to sit down at the end of work and sift through it all. I need to be able to do stuff as and when I want/can, and I think they need women who are totally on it all the time. They're doing brilliant stuff, I still follow them all and their social media work is great. It just wasn't quite the group I was looking for.

All the WRN groups will be slightly different, @Yeval ! We're a tiny group. Do try again, there will be more groups local to you now.

My WRN has an understanding
that women do what they can, when they can - as @oldwomanwhoruns says, they’re all different.

Yeval · 19/06/2023 10:20

@oldwomanwhoruns Thank you, I'm going to DM you 🙂
