It turns out I'm a SuperLesbian

Not sure how I feel about this but it's winding up the TRAs an awful lot.

I guess SuperLesbian is preferable to vagina fetishist or gynophile and at least everyone knows where they stand.

It turns out I'm a SuperLesbian

@DinoHat

I’m sorry OP. That’s appalling. I feel like the trans women dont want to share our spaces - they want to dominate them.
Yes, me too.
MrGHardy · 13/03/2021 12:17

Is that what supersexuality is? I thought it was that your attraction is independent of gender and relies on sex, but this just shows no attraction to trans people regardless of their sex. E.g. Elliot Page, not sure if there is an intent to start testosterone, but the body is the same as before the 'coming out', so I am sure plenty of straight men and lesbian women will still be attracted to Elliot but gay men and straight women didn't magically become attracted.

Good point Long! We really should get capes*

I'd like a toaster upgrade if no-one minds?

😁

There are two views on this. #superstraight is:

  1. attraction to people of the opposite sex whatever their gender; or
  2. attraction to people of the opposite sex who are not trans.

Although 2) is more easily to cast as being "transphobic" I'm willing to say that after 4 years of looking at the identity wars over trans means that I don't find the idea of a person having a trans identity attractive.

NecessaryScene1 · 13/03/2021 12:24

It does just rely on sex. The superstraight men and superlesbian women will still be attracted to Elliot Page, but obviously it's not going to work out because Elliot is a man, so it would be dreadfully invalidating for him - "I fancy you because you're female". So they'll quietly keep this unrequited attraction to themselves, and look for relationships with female women.

Cailleach1 · 13/03/2021 12:25

Thanks for explaining the 'super' think in pictures.

I had no idea hasn't bothered and don't really care what it was.

I'm now super up to date.

TheWaif · 13/03/2021 12:28

What if I'm bisexual but only attracted to trans men, not trans women?

rc22 · 13/03/2021 12:40

According to that chart, I'm super straight. However, whilst I will defend anybody's right to live as they want to live and to be attracted to and have a relationship with whoever they please to the day I die, I still choose to identify myself as a straight or heterosexual woman.

Cailleach1 · 13/03/2021 12:45

I don't think you'd be bisexual.

You'd only be attracted to someone of a one sex. Not all people of that sex; just when a person of that sex professes a certain 'gender identity'.

There needs to be another picture and term, doesn't here?

TheABC · 13/03/2021 12:50

@FullofCurryandparatha

Has anyone told the straightmenz that they are supposed to be attracted to transwomen (with penises)?

Who decided these new definitions? I'm so lost. What am I: woman married to a man who would probably sleep with, say, the Capt Marvel woman, but is really only actually attracted to a nice cup of tea and a sit down most of the time?

@FullofCurryandparatha

I think that makes you SuperTea!

I actually like men in skirts, so if it were not for my wedding vows, I would consider dating a transwoman. However, I suspect that would upset them as I would be attracted to them on a biological basis. Tis a bit tricky. May have to stick to men in kilts.

Cailleach1 · 13/03/2021 12:52

Does it change your sexual orientation if you can appreciate a man in a kilt?

justanotherneighinparadise · 13/03/2021 12:54

I don’t mind SuperStraight. I know why it’s pissing some people off, but I think it’s fair. I’m superstraught and that’s my sexuality.

nauticant · 13/03/2021 12:58

#superstraught is a new one on me. Do you exercise to achieve this?

ChateauMargaux · 13/03/2021 13:22

@FullofCurryandparatha

"Has anyone told the straightmenz that they are supposed to be attracted to transwomen (with penises)?"... well, no... because they are only interested in harassing women.... as far as I can tell.. but my views might be biased based on what I read and where I read it.

TheABC · 13/03/2021 14:55

@Cailleach1, I have no idea!

SapphosRock · 13/03/2021 15:11

There's potential for a lot of mischief from this. Seen this TRA propaganda circulating in a few lesbian groups and one woman commented 'super duper'

It turns out I'm a SuperLesbian

Liked the video but god, sexuality has got ridiculously complicated recently. Go super lesbians I say.

Nancylovesthecock · 13/03/2021 16:10

I think you mean Super LeDollarBean actually

viques · 13/03/2021 16:13

So where does this leave trans couple Hannah and Jake Graf, because I can’t see their situation on the diagram. And if I recall Freddie of Mermaids fame was in a relationship with another transman. Can’t see that either.

It’s all too confusing. It’s getting to be like vegetarians who eat fish......

I am sticking to superstraight.

JellySlice · 13/03/2021 16:19

Depends on whether you see

kilt=skirt=feminine stereotype => wearer is a woman regardless of what swings beneath the kilt, or

kilt =skirt = feminine stereotype => wearer is a male who is confidently breaks gender stereotypes.

(All this presuming, our course that what swings beneath the kilt has always been swinging there)

IMO a kilt is super sexy and masculine on a man. Super Grin

HPFA · 13/03/2021 16:23

The #super tags have been extremely effective in bringing the rhetoric out into the open. And they're still circulating around Twitter very freely.

nauticant · 13/03/2021 16:38

The tip of the iceberg of that rhetoric:

Here's another attempt to have a discussion on reddit that's likely to get banned:

They would be either be straight if only willing to date people of the opposite gender or pansexual if they were open to anyone regardless of sex or gender.

Not super.

"Depends on whether you see

kilt=skirt=feminine stereotype => wearer is a woman regardless of what swings beneath the kilt, or

Which is all culture dependent, of course. A kilt is a kind of skirt originally worn solely by men in the Scottish Gaelic culture (women wore longer gowns). Ancient Greek and Roman men wore tunics and robes - indeed the Romans thought wearing trousers was a sure sign of a barbarian. Ancient Egyptian men wore short linen kilts. Men in Polynesian cultures wore, and wear, skirts - Fijian policemen have a uniform skirt. In medieval Europe many men wore shirts with or without knee-high leggings. And so on and so on.
