But the replies to this are mostly fabulous

FFS....I really despair...

It’s exhausting. Women literally cannot have anything just for women. Not even when they’re dead.

Babdoc · 11/03/2021 19:04

OP, can you post a link for those of us not on Twatter? I’d love to see the replies.

It's actually a fun read with women tweeting about zero transwomen in the UK being murdered over the past few years and trans activists getting angry about this and hurling abuse. One could almost get the impression that one side wants transwomen to be murdered and it isn't gender critical feminists.

WeeBisom · 11/03/2021 19:07

Out of interest, has there been any cases where a transwoman was murdered by a male in the last 12 months in the UK? Are there even any names to read out?

DialSquare · 11/03/2021 19:07

I'm just reading the replies. "Even transwomen who don't exist are more important than women" is one of my favourites.

AnxiousAndUnraveling · 11/03/2021 19:08

I’ve just been reading the thread in chat on predatory men and it occurred to me how incredibly important it is that crime stats are correctly reported in terms of biological sex.

Like @UhtredRagnarson just said ‘we can’t have anything just for women not even when they’re dead’ is just so true and so depressing. Uggh I’m so sick of the attempts to erase women.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/03/2021 19:10

I'm sure if someone compiles the list of TW I'm sure there would be an MP delighted to read it out.

nauticant · 11/03/2021 19:13

Here's one strand from the twitter replies:

I read stuff like this and start to be optimistic that given time trans activists will destroy their cause.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 11/03/2021 19:26

There weren’t any for one thing.

OhHolyJesus · 11/03/2021 19:31

There was one, Naomi Hersi. Murdered by a man after the two arranged a sex and drugs orgy in a hotel near Heathrow, in March 2018. So not in the last 12 months, coming up for 3 years ago.

Jesse Macdonald was jailed.

His girlfriend, Natalia Darkowska was sentenced separately.

Shizuku · 11/03/2021 19:35

How do you know that none of the women on that list were trans?

ChattyLion · 11/03/2021 19:45

2-3 women a WEEK are killed in the UK. Thats a systematic level of killing.
Why can’t women be left in peace just to remember these murdered women given how terrifyingly commonplace this horrific crime is?
Why do men feel the need to interfere?
How about they show some compassion and fuck off?

WeAreJackieWeaver · 11/03/2021 19:54

@Shizuku

How do you know that none of the women on that list were trans?
Oh they would have told us.
toffeebutterpopcorn · 11/03/2021 20:11

And I’m sure their names would have been publicised on the trans day of remembrance.

AnxiousAndUnraveling · 11/03/2021 20:13

If transwomen are women and are included in women’s crime statistics then no transwomen could ever be murdered because they are women not transwomen so therefore the amount of transwomen murdered is and will for ever be 0.

(I don’t believe transwomen are women btw)

Witchesbelazy · 11/03/2021 20:21

It’s an attention thing. The attention is on bio women and their struggles and some can’t handle it so kick up a fuss

picklemewalnuts · 11/03/2021 20:31

What about women murdered by women? That's pretty rare too, isn't it?

MeltsAway · 11/03/2021 20:36

@WeeBisom there are several women murdered BY Transwomen - two murdered their mothers ...

WarriorN · 11/03/2021 20:37

That is the thing though isn't it; we do get told how many TW are murdered (elsewhere as not very common here). But older women, not. (Observer campaign.)

Olderstyle1 · 11/03/2021 20:41

From the Twitter replies...

Absolutely shocking that the ZERO transwomen murdered in the UK in the last 12 months didn't have their names read out.
What were they thinking FFS?

Indeed.

WinstonsWeirdVole · 11/03/2021 20:47

This very sad recent case (literally only reported today, strangely) is of a TW murdered by a man with a history of violence:

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-england-hereford-worcester-56360357

I don’t know whether the victim was recorded as female or male, but it is a heinous example of the male violence that kills and hurts so many women (and transwomen of course, as this shows, though to suggest the scale of one is comparable to the other - or that erasing women’s spaces will somehow address the problem - is obviously completely disingenuous).

Tanith · 11/03/2021 21:42

Perhaps Jess should read out the names of murdered transwomen and men murdered by women.

It would make a very stark contrast.

MeltsAway · 12/03/2021 10:12

Although I suspect the reasons for men murdering TW might be different: they are generally killed (so I gather is the case in Brazil) as a consequence of being of the male sex but not adhering to the awful toxic masculinity expected of them. Not for being 'women.'

ErrolTheDragon · 12/03/2021 10:32

They're awful crimes but the main intersections may be homophobia, SW, trans, more than 'woman'.
Uhohmummy · 12/03/2021 11:19

It really makes you despair when this is the first response of someone hearing that list of names. Where is the compassion? The condemnation of male violence against women? The solidarity?
The misplaced anger towards women (sensing a theme here) and attempt to refocus attention on a non existent group (by this I mean the list of trans women killed in the UK in the last 12 months) is mind boggling. Surely it’s a good thing that no trans women were killed in the last year.
