I was waiting for the outcome of this and a couple of other motions to decide whether I could continue to support the Greens. Just cancelled my membership ☹️

I have no idea how to use my vote now. I've never missed an opportunity to vote in my life but I can't vote Tory, never have, never will. Better hope Labour can get their act together before the next GE.

In the light of today's legal ruling, Bristow has straight up admitted to completing the census incorrectly, which is illegal. Way to go.

That's just bloody stupid. What do they think the census is for? It's not for validation. All they're doing is making it harder for the govt and various other bodies to determine what trans-specific resources and services are needed. They're shooting themselves in the foot.

The guidance will say refer to your birth certificate or GRC, with Bristow doesn't have.

With those responses they can subtract the number of GRCs. Though that's ineffective as it doesn't give numbers in the male/female split, but it's better than Self ID of sex and the argument to remove the gender identity question was never made, that is an optional extra.

I see Bristow has stated multiple times in that thread that they are actually female.

That is some ratio, pp! I'm sure they'll only consider it a hateful pile on of phobes denying their existence, etc. Looks like the only reply they've bothered to interact with is a GP spokesperson and ignored the rest.

I get that for some transpeople, indicating their birth sex is uncomfortable. But if this is answered incorrectly, it will skew the census into recording transwomen as women - whilst that may be their intention, you have to consider the reasons for taking the census. It's to provide accurate data for the Government to use in forming policy and allocating spending.
If transpeople without a GRC vanish from the demographic, then the Government is unlikely to conclude that more and better services for those people are needed.
