Hasbro rebrands Mr Potato Head

Mr Potato Head is no more. He has been given a gender neutral name, he's now just plain old Potato Head.
Presumably Mrs Potato Head has been given the chop too.

I wonder what accessories they will come with now.
And I wonder what toys will be next.
Any ideas?

Another company tried to relaunch her five years ago, but as a little girl doll, not an 11 inch fashion doll. But that didn't get off the ground, either.

Oh that is sad. my daughter, who is nearly 11, has never got into that type of doll, so I didn't know. She still plays with my husband's aunt's Sindys which are the original 1960s ones. No idea where mine (1970s/80s) are. Somewhere in my mum's loft, or possibly long gone.

This has been reported in the press as if it's some kind of gender-ideologist non-binarising woke-pandering, when actually it's a pretty good change — instead of it being the Mr Potato Head toy range, incorporating Mr Potato Head, Mrs Potato Head and whatever other potatoid and other tuberous characters may be available, it's the Potato Head toy range. Both more logical and less sexist.

I heard they was going to change their name to Hasbeardybro.

As Crayon says above. I think this is actually a good move to challenge NORMAL = MALE. It’s the overarching brand that’s changing, not the original potatoes themselves (did I really just write that?!).

Exactly WashingMachine — both male as norm from which female is a deviation, and male as representative of all.

It's a restyle of the name of the brand - 'Potato Head' and you will be able to buy Mr or Mrs or the other gazillion variations they come up with. It's like the 'Barbie' dolls. A dozen or so 'Barbie Fashionista' dolls are released each year.. Despite it saying 'Barbie' on the box all the dolls are different characters - friends of Barbie but not Barbie herself.

Off to drill a genital hole on Mr Potato head. (Mrs Potato head can't be bothered but Mr Potato head is very militant that he should be able to try all the accoutrements that come with being Mrs Potato Head!!)
