On the Maternity Bill debate that took place in the House of Lords on Monday ...

Literally everything has to be about men.

He is an a**e. I don’t even think tw were mentioned were they? Much less defamed. It was a Maternity bill - why would it have anything to do with tw?

I note he is not worried about the speeches that didn’t mention transmen....

Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 24/02/2021 11:13

Absolutely vile.

LalalalalalaLand123 · 24/02/2021 11:13

He's one of the most misogynistic men out there. Just a woman-hating disgrace.

terryleather · 24/02/2021 11:14

Even wrt a bill that concerns women and their sexed bodies that fud does a spot of drive by woke scolding because everyone was failing to centre the cock.

Absolute state of it.

teawamutu · 24/02/2021 11:15

Oh, it's him.

As expected.

GirlInterruptedAgain · 24/02/2021 11:25

Abominable. Unjust. Totally discriminatory against women. Totally being undervalued, overlooked, and shoved into a corner.
WOMENS’ RIGHTS!!! time to tell people like this to shove it where the sun don’t shine.

gailforce1 · 24/02/2021 11:36

Does anyone know when do we find out what happened about this bill?

InspiralCoalescenceRingdown · 24/02/2021 11:46

This tweet reminds me of that BBC article about transmen and pride, where a paragraph about gay men not wanting to have sex with transmen being transphobic was removed, then restored with a quote from GLAAD.

What did GLAAD have to say about that particular topic?

"Trans women are women".

andyoldlabour · 24/02/2021 11:54

That twitter feed has attracted some very weird people. Most notably, the person who thinks some transwomen can get pregnant.Confused

OhHolyJesus · 24/02/2021 12:09

Freddy M is complaining on Instagram about 'transphobes' changing language.

The irony.

OhHolyJesus · 24/02/2021 12:10

(Sorry, was meant to say Cashman wasn't the only one having a moan.)

Freddy M is complaining on Instagram about 'transphobes' changing language.

I don't have instagram - please could you give us some quotes from Freddy.

BraveBananaBadge · 24/02/2021 12:35

That doesn't even make sense from Cashman, save to highlight his own misogyny. I dislike him more every time he pops up.

aliasundercover · 24/02/2021 12:36

... ah it's ok. I've found Freddy on twitter.

viques · 24/02/2021 12:38

If only he had stayed as a not very good actor, he and Laurence Fox could have buddied up .............

ArabellaScott · 24/02/2021 12:45

'We have nothing to fear from everyone enjoying the same laws the same protections.' - his subsequent tweet.

I'm not included in your 'we', mate.

FindTheTruth · 24/02/2021 12:50

Cashman, a male politician, routinely accuses female politicians of bigotry. Bigoteering is falsely accusing someone (or someone’s opinions or actions) as ‘ist’or ‘phobic’. On twitter he accuses female politicians like Liz Truss, Baroness Emma Nicholson of transphobia and then they get awful abuse.

On twitter Baroness Emma Nicholson tried to engage him respectfully and politely. His response was from the bigoteer playbook; Refuse to discuss.

Cashman playbook: deny, accuse, block, repeat, don't get pinned down in an open fact-based discussion.

His Followers side with him, without investigating the source of the accusations. (2nd order bigoteering).

The unquestioning herd supporting Cashman, include:

  1. Jameela Jamil
  2. Baroness Wilcox of Newport (she was in the HoL)
  3. Dr Saffron Vickers Walkling
  4. Julian Corlett, Author
  5. Aaron Spencer, LGBTQ reporter
  6. Scott Cuthbertson, LGBTI Scotland Manager
  7. Philip Normal, Mayor of Lambeth
  8. Jan Bell, Head of Support United Welsh
  9. Ronnie meechan, Head of Education
  10. Adi Ni Dhálaigh Gourdialsing, Head of Patient Services
  11. Damian Barr, Literary Ambassador
PotholeParadies · 24/02/2021 12:51

I saw that last night and I was nonplussed.

If it's so important, why did he not attend?

Also, it's about maternity. The issue here is transmen? Does he think transwomen can get pregnant after surgery?

Is the problem really just that no-one mentioned transwomen, like when Hibo Wardere spoke about mutilation of girls without ever mentioning transwomen?

CharlieParley · 24/02/2021 12:57

@ArabellaScott

'We have nothing to fear from everyone enjoying the same laws the same protections.' - his subsequent tweet.

That's just nonsense, isn't it? The entire Equality Act is about different protections being afforded to specific protected groups on the basis of their differing needs.

Children need different rights and protections. Disabled people need different rights and protections. Pregnant women and mothers need different rights and protections. And so on...

And this is coming from an experienced lawmaker who knows how the law works Hmm

My parents weren’t around much when I was a kid

There's always trauma when you scratch the surface. Poor girl. Still wonder the ethics of implanting 3 embryos into a teen's fallopian tubes though.

FindTheTruth · 24/02/2021 13:03

EXAMPLE: Cashman bigoteering on Twitter after the DfE updated their guidance:

  1. Baroness Nicholson in the House of Lords wanted a meeting to ensure that the old school materials teaching 'born in the wrong body' would be removed from Schools. See Transcript of House of Lords Gender Recognition Act GRA questions
  1. Cashmantook to twitter to say that Baroness Nicholson was 'planning an assault on the guidancefor inclusive sex and relationship education. I am up for the battle'. Here's his tweet He misrepresents what was said and gets others to jump on the bandwagon. He fails to mention that the RSE guidance hasalreadybeen updated or what's 'wrong' with it.
  1. The thread of followers think it's a 'battle' for LGBT rights', 'we stand for LGBT', 'I'm ready for the battle' and 'back to the dark days of section 28'.
  1. Blue tick followers like Jameela Jamil, who replies: 'If you care about the future of LGBTQ+ people, follow and support@mcashmanCBE
Xoxoxoxoxoxox · 24/02/2021 13:21

Skeeter P I think you nailed it with the title.
Women shouldn't be allowed any space to discuss anything without centering Transwomen, even maternity rights.

Still couldn't be bothered to turn up to the debate (because he'd have to sit through boring old women's issues) and prefers to bitch on twittter.

OvaHere · 24/02/2021 13:26

If he cares so much why didn't he make sure he was in the debating chamber to have his say? Isn't that the point of being a Lord?

He can't care that much if he couldn't be bothered. More interested in getting 'likes' on the internet.

OvaHere · 24/02/2021 13:32

Reminds of another fave misogynist - the Cyclepath and Sports are a Right self proclaimed expert.

Was tweeting yesterday about turning down an opportunity to defend their position of inclusion at the hearing of a bill about female sports near to their hometown.

Assuming it's true they were invited the reason given was that it was too short notice. Odd to turn down such an opportunity when this subject has been your raison de etre for several years and you consider yourself a world renowned expert.
