That is what a real gentleman is.

DdraigGoch · 22/02/2021 21:25

What was the minister's response?

EdgeOfACoin · 22/02/2021 21:28

It was a great speech. And he was calling out how his colleagues have been treated as well.

PamDenick · 22/02/2021 21:33

Either connected or coincidence but there were a couple of very strong women speaking out at a Scottish thingy (maybe some sort of hearing -sorry - don't know the technical term - Select Committee hearing???)

MaudTheInvincible · 22/02/2021 21:36

I have sobbed through many of these speeches. It has been so upsetting to find that so many people think that womanhood is a contemptible condition which should be done away with. To hear people speaking up for it has been very emotional for me. I've been angrier and more hurt about this than I realised. I recommend listening www.parliamentlive.tv/Event/Index/0ca59b7f-0018-470a-851a-ce1562544ec5

MaudTheInvincible · 22/02/2021 21:37

There was a Scottish debate today about the proposed Hate Crime bill.

Winesalot · 22/02/2021 21:40

GeorgeMichaelsEspadrille · 22/02/2021 21:41

Hate crime Bill? Details here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4170783-Scotland-Hate-Crime-Bill-Urgent-action-before-Monday-22-Feb-2021

Susan Smith & Lucy Hunter Blackburn both spoke to the committee

FemaleAndLearning · 22/02/2021 21:43

Wow that was just fantastic to hear. Is it too late thought I get the language changed in the Maternity Bill?

PamDenick · 22/02/2021 21:45

Round of applause for Susan Smith and Lucy Hunter Blackburn too…

TheFleegleHasLanded · 22/02/2021 21:55

He has been listening to women, simple as that. This is the result of months of briefings and lobbying from women. This is why we must NEVER give up, because eventually our work gets recognised.

MaudTheInvincible · 22/02/2021 22:03

Yes Fleegle

PurpleWh1teGreen · 22/02/2021 22:17

Great speech. Obvious truths and how sad that they need setting out so explicitly.

Catlover77 · 22/02/2021 22:18

Fantastic, my hero of the week.

Bisquiteen · 22/02/2021 22:20

WarriorN · 22/02/2021 22:26

justanotherneighinparadise · 22/02/2021 22:29

What a fantastic speech and as a woman, I appreciate him defending our rights and our language.

Toseland · 22/02/2021 22:32

He was brilliant, as was Baroness Noakes. I cried. I too didn’t realise how much this was affecting me. Thank you.

StillWeRise · 22/02/2021 22:42
