GC Academics site blocked by Virgin

Apologies if this has been done before.

I can't get onto the gcacademics website as it has been blocked by my web browser. Has anyone had this happen to them as well? Or does anyone have any contacts with the folk running it to let them know.

"This site has been blocked by Web Safe. It's listed as having content that’s inappropriate for children, involving either pornography, hate, crime, drugs, violence, hacking, self harm or suicide."

What's the url?

Is it www.gcacademianetwork.org/ ? I don't think it's Virgin that's blocķing it. Are you going through a work computer with a proxy on it?

I just got onto it no problems. We have virgin WiFi. Strange times!

It's now saying I can't get in because Safari can't get a secure connection.

I get the same message. I’m with Virgin

I can get to it fine but I don't have any child filters on my internet, is that maybe it?

I can't get to it from safari or chrome on my iPad, get the secure connection error. We've definitely got some filters on our router, I get that for a few sites.

I'm with Virgin, the link above took me straight to the site.

Maybe it is a child-lock thing as pp have said?

It's child lock. I have BT and had to sign in to give myself permission to read it (on Firefox, Safari just froze). Thanks for posting OP I didn't know about this website

What’s the betting that the GC Academics site has been maliciously reported to Virgin as a site that should be on the Web Safe block list?

If you use Virgin Broadband you can report to Virgin the site should be unblocked:

I've just read it via Virgin - there via Chrome and Safari with no difficulty.

BUT - the stories on there are truly terrifying. So many threats and bigotry aimed at women. If ever anyone needs a site to show people just how damaging and dangerous this has all become for women, just send them a link. It's heartbreaking.

I can't access it from my phone via the WiFi. That's new. I've read it that way before. I think you're right, it's been reported & flagged.

Some of the posts on the site mention sex, with regards to sex and gender. Does anyone know if that word is causing problems. I am not a techie.

Thanks for the info. I’m one of the people who set it up. Not sure what we can do about it - how bizarre!!

Maybe you need to explicitly whitelist it in your own setup somehow (she says vaguely).

Bizarre. Last time I looked there was zero pornographic content, nor would I ever expect to see it there - though the word 'sex' is mentioned many times, in its biological sense to distinguish male and female. But we know the pearl-clutching that exists round that word in certain circles who regard the very notion as transphobic - it had never before occurred to me to regard it as the prudery it is.
