@ItsNotNormalLove

I've donated to things like Keira's case, Ann Sinnott's case amongst many others but THIS one was deemed important enough that both my adult child and my husband donated too! I did have to explain the issue to them first but they both agreed it really matters. And im proud because usually they listen to me prattling on about this stuff and nod in agreement but I feel alone, like they don't quite get it. This time they got it!
hurrah! I will donate at the weekend again

Bump.

I’ve donated a small amount - I’m waiting for Rishi to announce whether there’s any more financial support for the self employed on 3rd March (I haven’t been able to work since Christmas) then I can do some more.

jhuizinga · 19/02/2021 10:16

Now at 45%! Have donated some carrots and will do so again if necessary.

Oldstyle1 · 19/02/2021 10:57

The ramifications of a win will be mahoosive. And hopefully will further expose the extent of organisational capture by certain lobby groups.

But either way, the number of donors and the speed with which women are getting their act together in response to the stupidity and irrationality of the Census bosses will send a clear signal.

I'm so enjoying being on the right side of history.

AniseDanehill · 19/02/2021 11:01

Donated and will again on payday.

SirVixofVixHall · 19/02/2021 11:04

Donated.

JustfiedandAncient · 19/02/2021 14:12

Fabulous

Vargas · 19/02/2021 14:16

47% Smile

Oldstyle1 · 19/02/2021 14:30

We are going to hit 50% soon - that's half way to the target in just two days. Way to go wimbats and friends of wimbats.

Please keep digging. This case could make a huge difference - and not just in terms of the census. Sex bloody matters!

JosephineBaker · 19/02/2021 14:36

Donated! Can’t give much, but all our little bits combine to something powerful.

dianebrewster · 19/02/2021 14:39

This is an important one I think because accurate data is - SHOULD be -the basis of decision making and planning by government. Yes, people do all sorts of weird and unhelpful things on census forms, like declaring themselves to be Jedi 🤨 but Religion is a choice, made by people, which can be changed. Basic demographic data such as age and sex is not. Data matters, facts matter.

Suziki · 19/02/2021 14:40

Excellent ❤️ Go FPFW! We won't back down!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/02/2021 14:40

That's fantastic. Votes for Wimbats!

picklemewalnuts · 19/02/2021 14:45

Done a bit!

MerchedCymru · 19/02/2021 14:49

So good to see the support this is getting. The combination of the JR application and the 'sex not gender' Census campaign that kicks off on Sunday will shine much-needed sunlight on Stonewall's capture of civic and political institutions.

We are so proud to be a part of this. And we've planted some carrots too...

purpleboy · 19/02/2021 14:52

Keeping this thread active. Let's Keep going!!

BonjourMinou · 19/02/2021 15:01

Now at 33k carrots. More digging required!

picklemewalnuts · 19/02/2021 15:05

I'm a little cagey about these fundraisers- but FairPlay for women and the ons are without doubt a worthy recipient.

Sex is probably the most essential piece of information that attaches to us. When we announce a birth, it's 'a little girl (or boy) mum and baby doing well, 8lb'.

As a species we ask 'boy or girl?'.

As a woman when someone walks toward me I immediately check out- male or female?

On the pathology slab, they won't care our name or job, just our sex.

Sex matters and the ONS had better damn well realise that!

HedgehogPoo · 19/02/2021 15:15

I donated some potatoes as there were no carrots left due to being scoffed by the local rabbits. Hope this is acceptable.

DeRigueurMortis · 19/02/2021 15:17

I've been to the shed and got out the spade.

Great news!

ValancyRedfern · 19/02/2021 15:20

Done. Feeling so demoralised; at least this is something I can do.

Datun · 19/02/2021 15:25

I found a few more carrots, and a turnip! Sent them off.

This is massive. The timescales are ridiculously tight. But the support is phenomenal. Women, everywhere, and it would appear quite a few men, are saying NO.

chocolatecronetta · 19/02/2021 15:32

Yep, donated and shared on FB and on Twitter, this is so important.

Toomie · 19/02/2021 16:02

Donated too. Managed to find a surprisingly healthy looking parsnip in the veg drawer.

The knock-on effects of the ONS's decision on this are potentially huge. As others have said, the census questions are 'Gold Standard' and will have an effect on how other agencies abc official bodies collect data on sex and gender. It is not just about how a handful of people fill this in.
I have no idea about chances of success but I feel it's important to show solidarity and strength of feeling.
When I last looked a few minutes ago, only £600 to go till the halfway mark... it's all very heartening

greatpurplepolkadots · 19/02/2021 16:09

Perhaps I am being a bit naive but actually I'm slightly disappointed with the pace. In the context of the UK population it feels like quite a small % care enough to donate.

I have donated what is to me a good chunk and I don't begrudge it. But I am a bit sad that an issue this important isn't resonating more with the wider public.
