Personal statement condemning transphobia in response to the number of young members leaving and giving this as their reason.

I suppose my point is that people just don’t know/believe the things that are being done, as they sound as though they must be made up!

I find this is really one of the trickiest things.

Emergency NEC meeting scheduled to push through this new definition of “transphobia”. More storms ahead.

SNP looks like it's tottering about unsteadily just now. Not happy about this - I'm not a member nor a supporter but we need a steady bloody government to get us through the next few months, whoever they are.

The boot for Joanna and Joan MacAlpine then. Very sad.

This is worrying in every single way. It's definitely appearing to be more of a convenient witch hunt than an actual concern for trans rights.
WouldBeGood · 30/01/2021 08:17

@MoltenLasagne yes. An excellent way to get rid of Ms Cherry et al under the guise of wokeness.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/01/2021 08:38

If they think that will benefit them as a party, or the current leadership personally, they are utterly batshit crazy.

newyearnewname123 · 30/01/2021 08:57

Oh, I am looking forward to hearing their definition of transphobia. What definition do they have now for transphobia?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/01/2021 09:22

I think this is the model for what they are trying to pass archive.is/qGhPf#selection-515.258-515.565

Love this bit-"cisgender people ought never to speak over trans people when seeking to define transphobia."

In that sentence, they're labeling us 'cis' because they want to, and with no agreement to that on the part of those who are cised, then they say that those who are directly affected by something are those whose voices should be heard above others...

Kevin McKenna: This contrived trans war distracts from real inequality

littlbrowndog · 30/01/2021 13:23

Great article. Right on point

Imagin something, anything..

Well, thats transphobic

highame · 30/01/2021 13:41

Love this bit-"cisgender people ought never to speak over trans people when seeking to define transphobia."

In that case I'm not sure transpeople should speak over women when talking about women's rights

I'm not sure this article helps from the Spectator, but it does show how issues can raise their ugly heads when ideologists steam roller ahead without thought

Grim reading about health in my country. Yet transphobia 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

The average life expectancy for men in poor parts of Scotland 47

Sturgeon - F.M.

Cherry QC - F.M.

One current, one soon to be. Spot the difference.

omg, that is absolutely shocking! 47 - do you know where that figure has come from littlbrown?

I've just had a quick check and that puts some areas of Scotland below Central African Republic which is number 193 (bottom) in the world with 52.16.

And the NEC are having an emergency meeting to discuss transphobia! Maybe it should be an emergency meeting to discuss the immediate and horrendous health crisis?

MissBarbary · 30/01/2021 14:41

I doubt this will make the slightest difference to their support.

I would be delighted to see the SNP tear itself apart and disappear into oblivion but I very much doubt thosecwho want to destroy the Union at any cost actually care about this issue.

The myth that Sturgeon is handling Covid better is still believed, despite not being borne out by the figures. Vaccination roll out is slower than Scotland, but no one seems to care about that either.

It's quite funny (not funny at all) that so many posters supported the SNP , despite their poor performance in just about anything you care mention, yet this tips you over.

It's also quite amusing that you (general you) are falling over yourselves fawning over Cherry. Salmond wasn't found guilty but his conduct in general was pretty deplorable yet Cherry is his biggest fan.

littlbrowndog · 30/01/2021 14:47

It was Scotland s chief statistician

From the article below

Figures released this week show healthy life expectancy has dropped to 61 years across the whole country and, in the most deprived areas, a man can look forward to only 47 years of healthy life, compared to 73 for his neighbour in a more affluent postcode.

weebarra · 30/01/2021 14:48

little brown dog -what's your source please? I agree that health inequalities in this country are horrific, but this is from the NRS (Sept 2020): Male life expectancy at birth was highest in East Dunbartonshire (80.5 years) and lowest in Glasgow City (73.6 years)

littlbrowndog · 30/01/2021 14:48

Am not sure what healthy life expencacty really means ?

littlbrowndog · 30/01/2021 14:49

It’s from the article in Scotsman I linked above

weebarra · 30/01/2021 14:49

Ah, 47 years of healthy life. Still not good, but not life expectancy.
