@yestheyhavethesamedad

It was actually worse that , a lot that left , did so before humzas amendment , they left because the snp were bullied into voting for johan lamonts medical examiner bill , that gave rape victims the right to choose the sex of their examiner. The ones that left then , that included mridhul left telling rape victims they were bigots and transphobes and many joined the greens because they were more inclusive .
I thought this was as low as it could get - demanding that rape victims accept being examined by a person with a penis to satisfy an ideology - but I was wrong Sad

Goodness knows who I can vote for in May

Spoil your ballot like many of us now do...unless you can genuinely vote with some positivity for another candidate.

Calyx72 · 28/01/2021 21:25

Sorry pressed post too soon. Meant to say "hmmmmm". I don't believe NS means to address the concern that abusive men will exploit trans rights.

I also don't believe she wants independence any time soon. It's a shame, I used to be a fan.

WouldBeGood · 28/01/2021 21:57

This, where they’ve used an expert who compared TW in female spaces to women who’ve had mastectomies has really sealed my disgust for them all

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/01/2021 22:09

YY that was appalling. Lots of our FWR posts quoted in that piece. I am the only poster whose name isn't blanked out though Shock

Words fail me Sad

howonearthdidwegethere · 28/01/2021 22:35

Why do people think Sturgeon is a feminist? Because she says she is?

Genuinely curious. Because I see no evidence to back up this claim.

WouldBeGood · 28/01/2021 22:36

@derxa me too

Selkiesarereal · 28/01/2021 22:46

Has anyone just watched bbc Scotland news tonight reporting on this issue? Absolutely appalling as it covered a personal account from someone called Teddy, didn’t catch what gender they identified as but clearly supportive of trans rights but no personal account from a woman, such biased reporting. It was so bad that even my dh commented on it.

Treeballarae · 28/01/2021 22:50

Yes I just watched the Scottish news and came on here to see if anyone else thought it was a biased as I did, I felt they gave no real explanation of what had sparked NS to make her video and it was all about how poor Teddy had to leave the party because of the nasty transphobia

OvaHere · 28/01/2021 22:52

I recall from previous threads that Teddy was allegedly lying about that. Someone else will probably remember the full story. I think ForWomenScot covered it on their Twitter account.

Selkiesarereal · 28/01/2021 22:56

I’m so glad it’s not just me, I’m absolutely spitting. Honestly if a person watching had no idea of the issue you’d have sympathy for poor Teddy.

littlbrowndog · 28/01/2021 22:57

BBC bias as ever

WhatstheTruthRuth · 28/01/2021 23:00

Yes just watched - that report was so one-sided. Absolutely no balance to refute the claims of transphobia just Teddy getting his 15 minutes of fame AGAIN. How do BBC Scotland justify that report? I swore very, very loudly at the TV. Apparently Teddy is now doing a PhD in Trans Television but that might be a joke.

The last 24 hours has been appalling - the Labour Party’s shortlist announcement, The Feminist Library nonsense and this debacle with the SNP and the First Minister. I feel quite defeated.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 28/01/2021 23:03

I’m not surprised at the BBC.

One more little boxed ticked and everyone can sleep well at bedtime again.

Raging.

Wow. That was in the Sun?

It wouldn’t get published in the Guardian.

littlbrowndog · 28/01/2021 23:54

Transphobia under the guise of women’s rights from SNP are they fucking bonkers.

Nicola Sturgeon throws Joanna Cherry under the bus
OvaHere · 29/01/2021 00:06

It would be more helpful and accurate if they mentioned the hideous misogyny from transactivists. The unpleasantness flows far more in the direction of women.

The fact they wilfully ignore this tells me all I need to know.

Lizzie523 · 29/01/2021 01:13

While they chase the youth vote they run the risk of losing a lot of older voters who have voted SNP all their lives are and pro indy.

I grew up in a pro indy family. Most of them are completely baffled by the debate. Some who have held Nicola in high esteem are really questioning her motives in audition to this Alex Salmond scandal as well.

Some of our family friends are MSPs in the party. Let me tell you, several of them share JC's feelings. She is not alone, although she might be the most vocal.

I'm English and don't want Scotland to leave the UK. Cynically, there is a part of me that hopes the SNP keeps banging this drum so that voters in Scotland will stop voting for them.

However, if I were a member of the SNP and opposed to the ideology, I'd start speaking out about this issue before it did any more damage to the party's credibility.

iguanadonna · 29/01/2021 06:52

I'd would be so delighted to see Cherry as the next SNP leader. So much brain.

She's one of the very few politicians I'd be genuinely glad to see in any leadership position. If only Labour had managed to foster women of her calibre.
