Twitter finally got Helen for asking #thestanilandquestion

Can't believe it. Well, I can. Are we allowed to swear because I mightily want to right now.

PaleBlueMoonlight · 26/01/2021 18:50

I wonder what tipped it over the edge? Fascinating (and awful) the way this works.

CaraDuneRedux · 26/01/2021 18:54

But, but, but...

I keep getting told "Some women have penises - get over it..."

Could one re-phrase the Staniland question to use the TRA-approved "AMAB people" and get away without a banning, I wonder? Or is any reference to penises, even lady-diques, too close to "saying the quiet bits loud"?

Anyway, welcome to the upside down.

happydappy2 · 26/01/2021 18:55

An excellent question asked eloquently. Must be repeated at every opportunity!

Justhadathought · 26/01/2021 19:09

I reported Helen yesterday, I actually report much less than I should, but enough's enough.I have never been dog-piled by so many abusive toxic men in all my time on here

And because you have been abused by men, you seek to punish the woman, naturally.

gardenbird48 · 26/01/2021 19:09

they really are going after the women - Sarah and now Helen!

Trouble the harder they try and push us down, the more determined it will make us.

What kind of people allow themselves to get so far away from human decency and rational thought?

Whatwouldscullydo · 26/01/2021 19:14

Well they rarely answer the question do they.

The answer would be too exposing

Winesalot · 26/01/2021 19:21

But I just read her tweets an hour ago. And even reported some douche for harassing her !!!

I am saddened by this.

RealityNotEssentialism · 26/01/2021 19:24

There’s no point in engaging with TRAs online at all. I suspected this would happen when she had endless and fruitless discussions with people who are totally delusional and will never change their way of thinking. I just block or mute and move on.

Mollyollydolly · 26/01/2021 19:34

To survive on twitter there are certain men you simply just can't engage with. Their aim is to take women down. I'm surprised Helen lasted so long. I avoid all these usual suspects like the plague and preemptively block them. It's like a parallel universe.

sexmatters22 · 26/01/2021 19:49

To be honest I was worried Helen was starting to go the way of Glinner and was potentially putting off some people who are still on the fence about this

Still a shame though

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 26/01/2021 19:55

I bet this is to do with someone on Twitter recently posting a picture of a non violent tweet by Helen followed by pictures of a bunch of violent tweet threats against TRAs? Conveniently removing the details of who did the threats, but kept Helen's details for all to see, resulting in Helen getting a lot of abuse and no doubt piled on for reporting.

They later clarified who wrote what, followed by a bunch of whataboutery bollocks and besides, it's all Helen's fault anyway, she's the cause Hmm. Damage done.

Bastards.

This is very sad, glinner. Time to update your list, I guess:

Sparkyduchess · 26/01/2021 21:02

Joss prior is gleefully accepting credit for this 🙄

ArabellaScott · 26/01/2021 21:05

Shitsake.

NotTerfNorCis · 26/01/2021 21:27

Joss prior is gleefully accepting credit for this

I would take anything said from those quarters with a lorryload of salt. This morning Joss announced a big change of heart, a moment of insight and self-awareness, and was about to take a week's break from Twitter to recalibrate... predictably Joss was back within hours.

boatyardblues · 27/01/2021 00:29

Another own goal for the TRAs I’d say. #TheStanilandQuestion is still going strong and being picked up by US tweeters. Biden’s EO has made it topical there too. Streisand Effect all over again.

PumpkinSpiceWoman · 27/01/2021 11:33

The Staniland Question was answered, though. But she kept on as if it hadn't been. Did she not have any new material?

NotTerfNorCis · 27/01/2021 11:39

What was the answer?

OvaHere · 27/01/2021 11:49

Is there some problem with repetition now? Does this also apply to TWAW and other such repetitive mantras?

Cailleach1 · 27/01/2021 12:01

There was an answer! Who answered it and what was their answer?

I wonder why it wasn't considered comfortable in the past for male bodied people to wander in and get undressed alongside girls and women who were also in a state of undress.

Imagine being the a female, or the only female in that changing room. " I'll try it on at home thanks and bring it back if it doesn't fit!"

Ereshkigalangcleg · 27/01/2021 12:05

The Staniland Question was answered, though. But she kept on as if it hadn't been. Did she not have any new material?

It is a question that everyone should be able to answer. Most don't want to.

Just because some people of all gender identities are more than happy to put their jawdropping misogyny on show, doesn't mean others won't squirm at saying teenage girls aren't entitled to undress away from males.

Winesalot · 27/01/2021 12:12

I don't perceive that diverting the answer to be 'abolish communal female changing rooms' as being an answer.

I don't perceive that stating 'nobody should be flaunting their nakedness in communal female changing rooms' to be an answer.

I don't perceive the wriggling to avoid the fact that THERE IS communal female changing rooms and that this is very likely to happen as an answer.

So, I too would like to see what you considered an answer pumpkinspicewoman. I saw very few activists answer it. I did see very many activists harass her for asking the question. I did see people calling her 'penis woman' and state that she was a danger to others because she was bringing attention to an outcome of the current policies being adopted.

The question was often answered with a 'no' from people who had no other agenda in their mind. But, it is a great reminder that policies have recently been changed to allow this.

highame · 27/01/2021 12:17

Shouldn't our government be telling twitter that they do not have the right to dictate their own views to the UK and that if they cannot get rid of violence then they have no right to have algorithms that obliterate women?
