One of the benefits of not being on F B is not having to see this shit. 😊

yetmorenamechanging · 22/01/2021 06:42

I can only see ads for a chemist.

NotTerfNorCis · 22/01/2021 07:23

Only a few comments to be fair, and the first one is by a man with pink hair and embroidered knives in his banner pic.

BraveBananaBadge · 22/01/2021 08:19

That drives me mad. You can be fairly sure the men (and it was largely young men) bollocking on about bigots have never been on here in their lives. It was that kind of baseless, preachy nonsense that brought me here in the first place. That people like that would shut down a wide-ranging support website for women and be prepared to dismiss the views of mothers on anything - with no evidence of course, just the feels - showed just how little they think we matter. It’s been an eye-opener.

In the comments, under the advert.

Mainly men saying how awful MN is, full of bigots 🙄

I hope Esther and Jo are on this thread 🙌

ChattyLion · 22/01/2021 08:34

Cranberries I can only imagine.. Can’t be arsed to look at wankers on Facebook because I don’t want to make Facebook think I care what misogynists think. Fuck them all.

When those creeps do come here to MN to educate the witches they soon piss off because they can’t sustain their ‘argument’. If Facebook name the place to be for critical thought as MN then some less hardline will come here out of curiosity... and we all know what that leads to! Grin
I’m worried that younger women in need of the parenting side might not be finding MN for whatever reason (including this type of prejudice?) and might be missing out of information and support especially during this isolating and stressful time to be a mother.

dyslek · 22/01/2021 08:49

Well, to be fair, you have to say something to shut women up if they're talking about having rights, no?

BornIn78 · 22/01/2021 08:54

The pink haired embroidered knives man looks like he needs a bath.

DickKerrLadies · 22/01/2021 09:02

Free advertising? Wonderful!

Hello new lurkers, please stick around and discover whether you too, are now deemed a transphobe!

Do you believe in biological sex?
Do you believe that female people should be allowed sex-based rights?

If you answered yes to either of those questions, congratulations! You may be deemed a transphobe too.

Welcome along.

We also do recipe tips.

MolyHolyGuacamole · 22/01/2021 09:06

Agreed.

Very much like the ones piling onto Rowling, claiming she's a transphobe. Clearly none of them ACTUALLY read her essay.

The one in the leather trousers is pretty hilarious too.
MarieIVanArkleStinks · 22/01/2021 11:19

How depressing. It's everywhere. They've managed to shut down discussion everywhere else, including boards on gender criticism and women-specific health issues on Reddit and elsewhere.

Seems to me that aside from closed Facebook groups this is the last one standing.

The saddest thing is the old 'me' would have pulled out all the stops to protect trans people (and when I do see them in a situation where they are at risk of being 'outed', intimidated or discriminated against, I have protected them and continue to do so). I respect their choice of name. My old attitude used to be: why can't people just let other people be and respect their right to be who or what they want to be?

That was before certain vociferous activists started telling me I wasn't a woman, and as a rape victim denied the course of justice I should suffer the final indignity of remaining silent and not 'weaponising' my trauma. Men visited this on me - now they are telling me how I can and cannot respond to it. Fuck that noise.

So my attitude turned. Whatever women do it will never be enough. Because they're women, and that on its own seems enough to designate someone a 'transphobe'.

I know who the bigots are.

Thelnebriati · 22/01/2021 11:33

One minute you are straining under the weight of demands made on you because you're a woman, the next its exactly the same but you are also a bigot.
Good times.

persistentwoman · 22/01/2021 11:34

I see it's mainly men demanding that women on Mumsnet are silenced. No change there then. Grin

Datun · 22/01/2021 11:36

The comments pointing out the misogyny of calling women 'dumb' for protecting their rights, are getting misogynistic responses!

Fortunately anyone reading it can see that.

zzizzer · 22/01/2021 11:38

So many men are REVELLING in the current Internet culture of being able to openly hate women under the guise of "terfs" and "Karens".

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 22/01/2021 11:48

Men telling women to shut up is really not a good look - they’re not doing themselves any favours!

PurpleHoodie · 22/01/2021 11:58

Dead eyed, blue comb over, unemployed Sad Sack.

Yeah. I can see why blokes like that are threatened by The Women. And Alpha males.

SunsetBeetch · 22/01/2021 12:22

@zzizzer

Absolutely. And they get to keep their "nice lefty bloke" credentials while doing so.

Yep.

Brings to mind Frankie Boyle's latest (apparent) about face and his new "be kind" persona. He's always been a misogynist. His TWAW beliefs are conveniently timed to coincide with his new TV ventures.

If he's not actually a misogynist and all topics are fair game for comedians, I await the same venom he spat at females (via "jokes") to also now include some awful attempts at humour where TW are the target. After all, they're just jokes right?! Lighten up! 😁

It could be counter productive to make these claims about Mumsnet.

For example, I checked this place out to see for myself how bad it was and stayed because it's great here. I can't be the only one who has ended up on Mumsnet because of the free adverts that trans rights activists give this place.

MichelleofzeResistance · 22/01/2021 12:49

the first one is by a man with pink hair and embroidered knives in his banner pic.

Grin

'nuff said really.

And yes, the gleeful enjoyment of so many in being able to unleash their worst behaviour at women is patently obvious.

This government will have a fuckton to answer to when they realise the tanker they let get to full speed and have to turn around. But then we've had governments for over a decade now who couldn't see a problem in advance if it came with flags, whistles, a parade and a large sign saying "Here Comes A Problem."

Wanderingstars4238 · 22/01/2021 13:54

After JK Rowling was publicly shamed, Mumsnet got a whole lot of newcomers, saying they'd not even thought much about trans issues before.
Trans activists don't seem to realize that most people disagree with them. They live in a bubble, with Twitter, Reddit, and other social media sites censoring everyone else.
