Exciting one.

Tweeted by Maya.

'A new org campaigning for clarity on sex in language, policy and law, in order to safeguard the human rights, health, safety and dignity of everybody. Launching soon.'

They say: 'Sex matters, in life and law. This is particularly important for protecting women's rights, and safeguarding children and vulnerable people. It shouldn't take courage to say so.'

Set up by Maya, Emma Hilton, Rebecca Bull and Naomi Cunningham (of legalfeminist).

It's quite interesting watching the birth of lots of tiny, new, grassroots movements, isn't it?

Quite fucking amazing.

'Although the surge of deliberate malice may be unavoidable, its force is often spent in froth and bubbles; for this little bark of mine has weathered out full many a storm, and stemmed the boisterous tide; and though the cargo be not rich, the dangers which may hereafter be pourtrayed on votive tablet, may serve as a beacon to future mariners'.

Necessary 🤣 my thoughts too. Didn't look at the thread for days cause I thought it was about group sex and am too old 🤣

@NecessaryScene1

Fantastic thread.

Only let down by the new, boring title. Wink

Sorry for being a spoilsport, Necessary. Grin

😂 I'm so sorry high. I definitely need to work on being less clumsy when writing...

Love this, Arabella. Who was she?

Tbf to you, yourhair, I thought the meaning of the original title was immediately obvious. Very boring of me, I know! Grin

Thanks for the Elizabeth Fulhame quote, Arabella. I had to look her up, and I'm glad I did: a skilled 18th century Scottish chemist, highly regarded at the time. And not afraid to speak out:

Some are so ignorant that they grow sullen and silent and are chilled with horror at the sight of any thing that bears the semblance of learning, in whatever shape it may appear; and should the spectre appear in the shape of woman, the pangs which they suffer are truly dismal.'

BlackeyedSusan · 22/01/2021 19:12

See they've met ds then.

ArabellaScott · 22/01/2021 19:27

Sorry, TalkingtoLangCleg, I didn't see this until just now.

She was/is known as 'the invisible chemist'. A contemporary of Lavoisier, and the discoverer of both catalysis and one of the processes involved in photography. A really admirable woman, I love her writing.

See they've met ds then.

I love this quote. Shit never changes!

OhHolyJesus · 04/03/2021 21:08

Ah, I see this now, just posted on the other thread...

PotholeParadies · 06/03/2021 01:26

Thanks for the headsup. Bookmarking the site for the morning.

Sophoclesthefox · 06/03/2021 09:05

I love that list so much.

For a fringe bunch of about a dozen hateful whack jobs that don’t do anything except flail impotently at our keyboards, we don’t half get some shit done Grin
