Thank you for being so supportive it's great that your there says Eddy emotionally. They both get emosh and there are nearly tears (because they are both women!) but I felt that underlying it Lorraine was uncomfortable in this whole performance.

I’ve always thought that Lorraine says whatever she thinks will keep her at the top of her profession, however disingenuous this may be. I honestly don’t know what she truly thinks about anything other than ‘oh for sure, absolutely, spot on for sure’!

When Hannah Graf said that many women are infertile and unable to have children and claimed to belong to that group Lorraine ummd and ahhd sympathetically.

At 61 and decades in the business she knows Eddie from old. She knows exactly what is going on, does nothing and tilts her head in support. She has a grown up daughter doesn't she? Maybe when she becomes a grandmother she won't mind her daughter evening called a pregnant person and herself a grandparent and not grandmother. Maybe someone like Eddie will be her daughter's health visitor or midwife and that will all be fine with by Lorraine.

I have no interest in anything Lorraine says and I don't need her to shut up but I wish she wouldn't pander quite so much. ITV hasn't been stonewalled though, they have Piers Morgan.

I can’t even watch it as it’ll make me too angry but Lorraine has always been “TV-lite” - shes hardly a hard-hitting journo. You can tell she’s just going through the motions - you can practically see her thinking about what she’s going to have for lunch, they could stick a Lorraine-a-like robot in her place and you wouldn’t know the difference.

I just watched the interview on YouTube and it's like watching Take Your Pick with the contestant fearful of saying the wrong thing and getting the gong.

It's not an easy or enjoyable interaction for Lorraine. At best she is humouring or playing along with Eddie, at worst she's taking the p*ss

To be fair to her Lorraine is a popular lightweight entertainer and not a journalist or political commentator. It's not her style to challenge or push a particular agenda. She's made her career by saying the right thing, to the right person, at the right time, in the right way.

I don't think she's thick at all. A very shrewd and hard working individual. Would have loved a GC kickback against Eddie on morning telly but we'll need to leave that to someone else!

I don’t really understand why we still need television that is quite so “lightweight” as Lorraine. Surely the demographic who used to watch Roland Rat, now hang out on SM, sharing conspiracy theories and abduction scare stories and hunning at each other? As PP said, Victoria Wood satire has long been indistinguishable from the real ITV late morning slots, so what’s the point except the advertising space? Just cut the pappy programming and let them watch wall to wall commercials.

Oh Eddie. This is just gaslighting and it’s so unpleasant to see. I appreciate Eddie constantly stresses the pronoun thing is ‘not a demand’ and has their head on straight enough to understand where JKR is coming from. But then these sort of displays are just nonsensical, and the Twitter nitwits bollocking on about misgendering are unbearable.

That ‘boy mode’ suffices for Eddie’s serious dramatic work says it all. When Lorraine fancies a change from morning TV she could do the voiceover for the Two Minute Hate.

This is what I find most offensive, as if woman is a costume to wear at the weekend or on a daytime tv interview, when Eddie wants to make serious money doing serious acting, they can suddenly bear the dysphoria and be a man. And everyone falls over themselves to say how wonderful that is.No worries about the gender pay gap for Eddie (or endometriosis, child birth injuries or menopause) what a lucky girl Eddie is.

True but with a lot of caveats. The fact that an undifferentiated mass is then coded IN TWO SPECIFIC WAYS is pretty telling. In a method that is not arbitrary but links to your genetic sex.

Eddie's got some pretty impressive double think going on as well. He is against politicians lying, but then goes on to speak nonsense about biology.

I’ve supported EI wearing ‘women’s’ clothing and make up for years. It reduces gender stereotypes.

I don’t support EI suddenly getting access to a womens swimming pool changing room where there are 13 year old girls. Or lesbian groups. Or women’s sports. I worry that affirming the ‘she’ narrative and the vague allusions to ‘coding’ blurs the boundaries on access and what is socially acceptable behaviour. It reinforces gender stereotypes. It goes against safeguarding. It might reduce opportunities for females if EI now takes the ‘token woman on tv show’ role. EI seemed more genuine before this.

But yeah call phobia if you want.

Thing is, it doesn’t even need her to be really hard hitting, it needs a simple “how do you mean exactly?” Or a “can you explain that a bit more” when he’s talking about how hard hitting roles are for boys and simpering is for girls. Hand the person the rope.

Evan a simple “why do you call it girl mode?” Or a “so if you can switch between girl mode and boy mode, presumably you don’t mean that you switch between actually being a girl and a boy, because being a girl or a boy is about more than the clothes they wear, so what does it mean to you to be in boy mode? What can you do in boy mode that you can’t do in girl mode?”
