Last few days to support For Women Scotland's fundraising

Just spotted a tweet from Sarah Phillimore that the hearing is on 6th and 7th January, there is £18k to go to hit the target!

I thought/hoped some of you might be up for a bit of last minute seasonal digging to support them.

For those who don't know, FWS are challenging the Scottish Government's redefinition of "woman" to include men, whilst excluding some women. This has implications for the Equality Act throughout the UK.

On a very quick read, the only thing that seems to be positive in this review is that the Government's representative was corrected over her use of the word policy when referring to the Scottish Government's stance that transwomen are women, as it has not been discussed, announced or assessed.

There was an article that showed that the Gov has effectively adopted TWAW

So does this mean that the Scottish govt can do what it likes, but specifically men can replace women on public bodies when there is a 50/50 representation?

I don’t think you understand either what an appeal is, or what the word grift means.

Sophocles I read Disgusted’s comment as high (albeit unwarranted!) praise for FWS, given that the orgs that best represent Disgusted’s perspective are the absolute masters of grift themselves.

Do you mean to say I was wrong and it was in fact just another case of a biologically male person gloating at the continuing oppression of biologically female people? Yet another example of those with power and privilege revelling in the fact the system is set up to advantage them, and persists despite all our efforts to change that?

I’m sure you’re right, talking, after all we must #bekind, of course! Perhaps I’ve read it all wrong and got myself in a ladymuddle.

With the elections coming up it will be interesting to see how this goes down with voters...is it on any manifesto? I really can’t see that it will be popular...but so much has gone on without proper scrutiny FWS will have to be very loud at this point. A big thank you to everyone trying to stop the juggernaut.

Great idea.

Although you can imagine how long said billboards would be up for before they were branded a “hate crime” and the organisers thrown into the deepest available dungeon by the forces of the New Inquisition.

Much like Posie’s adult human female billboard, getting them removed brings more publicity and proves the point that previously factual statements grounded in reality are being policed and becoming unsayable. It would be a win-win.
