If Eddie is fine to be referred to as he or she what does that mean for Eddie wanting to be in female designated spaces? Does that mean men can just decide that that particular day they wish to be a "she" and so therefore are entitled to go into women's changing rooms?*

And what happens if Eddie stops being in "girl mode" whilst in the woman's lavatories and suddenly finds Eddie is in "boy mode" now? Does he leg it from the facilities in a panic about his terrible behaviour? (Does he have to apologise to the "girl mode individual" whom he was five minutes ago?)

I want him to verbalise exactly what he thinks he has in common with my daughter - his girl mode - and not with my husband. He's supposed to be intelligent, surely he can use his words.

Archive copy if the telegraph article, thanks to the poster who put it on the main izzard thread.

There's also a 'full interview' in the telegraph, maube that's archived somewhere.

Yeah, whatever. Willoughby also makes these kinds of 'I'm the sensible middle ground' statements, and the intent is always to cast Willoughby in a certain light. So basically, it's all about them. This is no different. I'm not interested in the self serving witterings of someone who scared girls in a female toilet and told the story as an example of him being persecuted. (Male pronoun used as the male in question has given permission. Aren't I a good girl? Hmm)

Have tbh I’m enjoying the wailing & dismay on twitter 😆😆 ppl getting annoyed at prick news for ‘misgendering’ Eddie & soooo many couches clearly being fainted upon

Astonishingly though not a fuckton of rape & other sexual violence threats being directed at Eddie. It’s almost as if ppm know Eddie isn’t actually a woman

Eddie plans to stand for election as a Labour MP and has just remembered that trans people and their “allies” do not constitute a significant voting block. “Gender critical” people meanwhile . . .

Going by the performance of previous interlopers usurping AWS, I doubt he would risk scuppering his ambitions by taking that route.

From what I have seen of Eddie being interviewed, eg. by Joe Rogan, he doesn’t seem very intelligent and comes over as thoroughly confused about the whole trans thing. Not that that being unintelligent is any bar to election in a safe seat.

However, if he is actually being groomed by Labour as a candidate the advice from the machine will be rather more pragmatic than that from the trans lobby.

There seem to be a lot of people in marketing departments/managing social media comms confusedly arguing both that trans people are simultaneously the most marginalised minority ever and that the trans pound is also a huge untapped market.

It cannot be both.

How many safe seats do Labour have these days?

Molesmokes · 03/01/2021 02:39

PotholeParadies - ”How many safe seats do Labour have these days?”

Not so many after the last election but there might be a few where the sitting MP decides to age-out in favour of a seat in The Lords and/or the Speaking Circuit, Corporate sinecures, etc. Mine is one and has an astonishing high representation of the Wokerati controlling the CLP for a deindustrialised, impoverished working class area.

If Izzard has the backing of the election machine they will helicopter him in somewhere they are confident there is no chance of credible opposition. He might make a good MP but if they put him on an AWS that will really be taking the piss!

Whatever Eddie says doesn’t change the fact he terrified those young teenage girls in a women’s bathroom.

DickKerrLadies · 03/01/2021 07:41

Well I guess we'll soon find out whether the TRAs really think Eddie is a woman or not...

*"I think we need to look at the things she has written about in her blog."^

Woah Eddie! Suggesting people actually think about things for themselves is totally heresy or something. Blind ignorance only!

From the Mirror:
"Backing Izzard's bid to become a Labour candidate, Mr Watson, 53, told the Mirror: “Eddie Izzard is one of the kindest and most intelligent people I have ever met."

If Izzard is the most intelligent person Watson has ever met, Watson is to be pitied. Izzard clearly could not reason his way out of a paper bag.

notyourhandmaid · 03/01/2021 22:49

The female loos thing was written about in his autobiography, which was published a few years ago. It would be interesting if someone asked him if reading JKR's blog post has made him revisit this take.

I don't think Eddie deserves a big pat on the back for publicly supporting JKR. It's the right thing to do. I am glad but not grateful. It will melt the heads of many of those who leapt to congratulate Eddie on 'her' bravery.

Eddie's website still uses male pronouns, btw.
