Greetings from the Baroness - and a progress report

I read on Mumsnet last month that Emma Nicholson was setting up a non-party women’s group, so I wrote and asked to join it. The Baroness welcomed me -- as I think she has welcomed all women who want to support women's and children's rights.
Today she sent out a friendly message, with a report on the progress made this year:
Dear colleague and friend,
I wish you a very Happy Christmas and wonderful New Year ahead. We have a common cause in our establishing the empowerment of women and in confirming the Rights of the Child as framed in the Children Act 1989.
It has been a very busy year despite the pandemic and I attach our achievements so far with more in the pipeline. I am also pulling together a Group of like-minded Parliamentary colleagues from all benches of both Houses which will be a non-party parliamentary campaign group, to encourage more activity in 2021.
It is a pleasure to work with you and I look forward immensely to our next steps together.
I'm looking forward to that too!
InterfectoremVulpes · 18/12/2020 18:24
Ooh, how do we join?
yourhairiswinterfire · 18/12/2020 18:29
Interesting, thanks for posting! I rarely bother checking my emails unless I'm expecting a delivery!
Quite a few successes there she mentions, hopefully many more to come.
(You've made me check my emails and realise I have my first ever telling off from mumsnet that I hadn't read either. Does this mean I'm a fully fledged terf now )

Points from the Baroness's progress report:
The CPS withdrew its Hate Crimes Guidance for Schools.
The Government Equalities Office withdrew funding for LGBT+ Hate Crime Training.
Many schools withdrew support for Trans Inclusion Toolkits.
The DoE published new HSE guidance of considerably higher quality and suitability, superseding the earlier, below-par instructions.
The DfE and OFSTED all but discarded Stonewall, Mermaids and the like from schools.
The NHS rewrote its guidance for the treatment of child and adult trans patients, without ideology.
Liz Truss shelved plans for reforming the Gender Recognition Act beyond simplifying the process.
So-called 'conversion therapy' for gender dysphoria was not outlawed.
Mermaids had to abandon its ‘Born In The Wrong Body’ mantra.
The Equalities and Human Rights Commission gained an independent and strong chairwoman.
There's an independent inquiry into health care for children and adolescents with gender issues.
GenderCare's online, offshore prescription of cross-sex hormones has been shut down (still more to be done there now).
The activities of Tavistock Clinic have been examined and judged inadequate in court.
Liz Truss, in her Ministerial statement this week, declared a new mission away from gender focus for the EHRC.

That’s the address she puts on her correspondence.

Great to see that list written out in bullet point form. Heartening.
Progress is being made.
Here's to 2021, and may all women and children find courage, safety and comradeship.
thinkingaboutLangCleg · 18/12/2020 20:48
I’ll drink to that, Arabella.
SirSamuelVimes · 18/12/2020 20:51
I enjoyed getting the email too, it was cheering reading. Cheers all! With a special toast to the baroness herself, of course.

How fucking sad does a mans life have to be to spend time (actual tick tock time) contacting women who they hate?
And stirring up shit for girls and women?
Get a job. Get a life.
HecatesCatsInXmasHats · 19/12/2020 08:51
I was also very pleased to receive her email yesterday
InterfectoremVulpes · 19/12/2020 09:00
@DoubleXcrew
No, I don't have twitter and after looking up that twitter name, 100% definitely not 🤣
ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/12/2020 10:04

Brilliant list. Amazing woman.
tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 19/12/2020 16:23
I had mine too! It made me feel positive for a while, for the first time in ages.
Baroness, you rock.
Also, can I be the first (I think I am?) to wish all you wonderful vipers a happy Christmas and peaceful new year. You have saved my sanity many times this year x
