Most of the comments I read are pointing out the obvious.

OP posts:
AvocadoBathroom · 08/12/2020 08:54

Waiting for Emma Watson and Jameela to start saying we should celebrate unwomen.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 08/12/2020 08:57

And being told that they can’t be unwomen and stay in their lane?

Babdoc · 08/12/2020 09:43

I clicked the Twitter link and was hugely encouraged by the ratio!
A year or two ago, it would have been full of the virtue signalling woke brigade fawning all over them.
Now it’s wall to wall fight back for women’s rights. Add this to the Keira Bell victory and I think we can definitely say the tide has turned.

MichelleofzeResistance · 08/12/2020 10:01

It is inclusive. Of all females.

Agree with the pp who asked ok, if we surrender that term and concept, what do we call it when biologically female people want to discuss and gather around the specific issues and disadvantages politically and otherwise to being born biologically female?

The answer from those steering this male led, male interested agenda: nothing. No word. No discussion. No gathering. Because we're supposed to pretend we don't exist in that way, so we don't upset male people.

So, that would be no. Grin I won't co operate nicely with my own oppression thanks.

TofuDelights · 08/12/2020 10:39

Is it just me or has the tweet been taken down? I was reading the comments earlier but had to take a work call and can't see it now.

I can't either, even after trying to reload a couple of times (tweets quite often don't load the first time). Too much pushback?
ArabellaScott · 08/12/2020 10:47

@chipperfish

OK, Scrolling through the comments on that I see one from a well known late transitioning boxing promoter saying of course TW need to be included and heard

This is on a post for 16 days against gender based violence, a campaign against violence against women

By an individual who strangled their wife

I am really struggling to phrase this in a way that does not get banned but this makes the whole clueless virtue signalling even worse

Right. I am writing to them. This is utterly unacceptable. This is spitting in the face of women. Who is best to write to, anyone know?

As for Monroe: 'Monroe is a great advert for vacuous choosy-choice feminism-lite.' - well, maybe, but I credit Monroe for forcing the scales from my eyes, so I'm ever grateful to Monroe and will always have a soft spot in my brain for them.

MichelleofzeResistance · 08/12/2020 10:50

I'm getting This Tweet is Unavailable.

Although instead of thinking, 'did we get it wrong?' they'll be shaking their heads while sadly reassuring each other that they just had a pile on by two horrendous phobes with a lot of socks.

ArabellaScott · 08/12/2020 10:50

MB tweet 'unavailable'.

And, ah, chipper, I thought that the one who had strangled their wife was being promoted by unwomen - not quite that bad, then.

gardenbird48 · 08/12/2020 10:52

interesting..... I was intrigued as to how we can centre everyone in everthing - a bit of a pointless exercise?

ArabellaScott · 08/12/2020 10:54

Unless you look at it from a philosophical smooshy sort of viewpoint, gardenbird, sort of everything is everything - the Lauren Hill school of postmodernism?

JulesJules · 08/12/2020 10:54

I'm getting 'this tweet has been deleted by the author'

CatsCantCatchCriminals2 · 08/12/2020 10:55

I can't see the tweet either, have they taken it down?

gardenbird48 · 08/12/2020 11:01

ah ha.. and who sang 'I am everything and everything is meeee'.

Either that or we are all just a big floofy blob (I am atm as we took our heating out so several jumpers required)

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 08/12/2020 11:01

They deleted it? I’m sure as someone before said ‘those nasty women made us do it. The ungrateful, hysterical wretches...’

Winesalot · 08/12/2020 11:03

Ahhh! What a shame! I am sure that they will be commiserating with Amnasty then. Wouldn't it be interesting if they actually read and took notice of what women were saying though? I mean, there were plenty of very well written and reasoned replies to that tweet as to why it was inappropriate.

Just like the newspaper who centred MB for a feminism discussion and they used a photo that no profession woman would ever dream of using. But the organiser reacted personally and I doubt the message got through.

Women replying to a tweet with calm and reasoned replies is NOT a pile on. It actually is reflective of the number of women that have an opinion on these issues. To disregard our voices as 'pile ons' will mean that these organisations will remain entrenched. Yet if the self reported most marginalised reply to the negative it is completely centred and great effort made to modify policy and communication. The inequity is clear.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 08/12/2020 11:04

I wonder if they have any other messages that they could put up? They really aren’t doing themselves any favours and I hope they are actually listening.

SunsetBeetch · 08/12/2020 11:07

Has the tweet gone now? It's unavailable for me.

SunsetBeetch · 08/12/2020 11:08

Oh sorry, should have refreshed!

HecatesCatsInXmasHats · 08/12/2020 11:09

chipperfish · 08/12/2020 11:09

ArabellaScott - Sorry if my post was unclear
the individual I referred to was not being promoted by UNwoman but had joined in the discussion under the line and on noticing the name I had felt the extreme jarring sense of

!!What the fuck is a self confessed violent abuser of a woman doing joining in on the 16 days campaign to tell women that they need to center TW in their campaigning!!

I find it difficult to perform the required mental gymnastics of not noting the sex of an individual even when we are all perfectly aware of it - and apologise if the syntax and clarity of my posts suffers.

CatsCantCatchCriminals2 · 08/12/2020 11:13

@HecatesCatsInXmasHats

Amnasty

Grin

Wish I'd thought of that.

(My friends and relatives will think I did!)

ArabellaScott · 08/12/2020 11:15

Not your fault, chipperfish, entirely my brain/reading comprehension!

DontCryForMeNextdoorNeighbour · 08/12/2020 11:16

The UN can go fuck itself.

HecatesCatsInXmasHats · 08/12/2020 11:20
