Well, you could knock me down with a feather...

CaraDuneRedux · 02/12/2020 20:17

Suzanne Moore's twitter feed is full of the most hilarious gifs of "well, colour me surprised..." "who could have seen that coming...", "knock me down with a feather..." Grin.

TheClitterati · 02/12/2020 20:22

A-MAZ-ING!

Grin

The Guardian should be ashamed. Owen Jones named but probably not shamed as a blowtorch couldn't mark his brass neck.

LaValliere · 02/12/2020 20:27

I do appreciate Suzanne Moore is very popular. But my sympathy for her is tempered by the fact that I don’t understand why it took her so long to realise the Guardian was a misogynistic prick fest determined to dismantle women’s rights. I don’t understand how she can have ever expected Viner to stand up for her, or expected Owen J to be civil at a party, or expected the Guardian to stick up for free speech & diversity of opinion. How did she manage to avoid seeing the misogynistic, authoritarian, irrational nature of her colleagues, for so long?

Nomnomarrgh · 02/12/2020 20:30

Hope. And bills to pay, I should imagine.

Al1langdownthecleghole · 02/12/2020 20:33

The name no one needed to print.

A story about women; KV, SM and others being bullied by a man.

It's not exactly man bites dog is it?

I think these things are often easier to see from the outside.

I am reminded of the big problem we had with bullying at DS's school. Half his class left over it, but the teaching assistants kept saying they couldn't understand why people were saying this was happening, as they never saw anything even though they were looking.

Then one of the children of a class helper was beaten outside school and his playmates threatened with rape, and she saw it then.

notyourhandmaid · 02/12/2020 20:39

Frog in slowly boiling water...

Pikachubaby · 02/12/2020 20:40

Yes, I read this too

In the Telegraph (of all places)

LaValliere · 02/12/2020 20:48

Those are all very good points. Hope can be very deceptive. Bills need paying. We all make compromises.

NonCisWoman · 02/12/2020 20:56

I'm proud that OJ has blocked me on Twitter. I wouldn't want to talk to him anyway, so he's doing us both a favour.

I'd feel the same if I was at a party with him TBF. His flounce wouldn't bother me.

Quillink · 02/12/2020 20:59

I don’t understand why it took her so long to realise the Guardian was a misogynistic prick fest determined to dismantle women’s rights.
I think she knew, but didn't see it as a reason to stop working at the Guardian.

Quillink · 02/12/2020 21:01

Meant to add: source, her UnHerd interview on YouTube

whataboutbob · 02/12/2020 21:05

Who is Owen Jones?

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 02/12/2020 21:09

He’s an odious wee scrote? Shocked I tell you Grin

whataboutbob · 02/12/2020 21:10

That’s interesting @Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons, is that his job description??

LizzieSiddal · 02/12/2020 21:12

He really is a nasty, vile man isn’t he.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 02/12/2020 21:14

Haha I wasn’t actually replying to you @whataboutbob I have no knowledge of his job description

FlibbertyGiblets · 02/12/2020 21:16

Come on, Bob, faux naivety doesn't wash with us. Smile

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 02/12/2020 21:24

Owen Jones's job description?

Sanctimonious morph isn't it?

justanotherneighinparadise · 02/12/2020 21:32

Well of course it was!!!

CaraDuneRedux · 02/12/2020 21:36

Rumour has it someone gave him a trip in a time machine, and he met Orwell, thus inspiring a certain character in Animal Farm.

BewaretheIckabog · 02/12/2020 21:37

What a surprise - bullying a woman out of her job for talking about women’s issues.

Sanctimonious, odious, little woman-hater.

PotholeParadies · 02/12/2020 21:40

Owen does realise he's not much off 40, doesn't he?

He's not the yoof any more.
