They’ve done it again. I thought I was just a vulva-person but it turns out I am also a vagina-owner!

Spitting and choking tic toc on that vid

For teens

RealityNotEssentialism · 30/11/2020 14:13

I always thought it wasn’t possible to own body parts because we can’t sell them or buy them or rent them out. But according to Teen Vogue I do own my vagina. However, my vulva defines all of me, as I am a vulva-person. I just ‘have’ my uterus though.

Is this really what is being published for teenaged girls these days?! Shock

Greektome · 30/11/2020 14:16

But some transwomen have what they call a vagina.
Masturbation papaya style is about the clitoris, which transwomen don't have.

EyesOpening · 30/11/2020 14:16

“Vagina owner” sounds like someone who has “bought” a girl from sex trafficking or something

yourhairiswinterfire · 30/11/2020 14:18

@broccolibush

Does anyone else find the fact that we own our vaginas a bit strange? I mean, I have a vagina but I don't think of it as something owned or a possession. You wouldn't market shoes to foot owners would you? Maybe to people with feet, but definitely not foot owners.
What, didn't you have to purchase yours?

I picked mine up at our local market. They were 2 for 1, so I've got a spare in the box on top of my wardrobe, should the worst happen and I need to re-assign it.

PotholeParadies · 30/11/2020 14:18

A vagina renter is probably a john. Maybe vagina owner is to be inclusive of johns' existence. (It's all about exissssssstence now...)

There's a Jonathan Creek episode where someone tells him "I've got the most enormous brain"...and later hands him the thing in a plastic jar as a present.

Always think of that when someone says they 'own' some organ or other.

That’s true. I was under the impression that I just had a ‘front hole’. I understand it’s not good for much anyway because the ‘back hole’ is the one used for sex.

Fibroids are f'in awful @viques aren't they?
By the time I had my hysterectomy the uterus and tumors weighed more than my son when he was born! But thats another thread

HecatesCats · 30/11/2020 14:30

Can your vagina be impounded if you park it in the wrong place? No wonder young people disassociate themselves from this bodies. This is women as a set of parts being sold to kids. It's so dystopian.

Winesalot · 30/11/2020 14:33

Oh my... it just keeps coming...

DrDavidBanner · 30/11/2020 14:36

I see what you did there @winesalot WinkGrin

Winesalot · 30/11/2020 14:39

So, if I am a vagina owner, does that mean I can get mine replaced as defective since it is retroverted and frankly, my last smear nearly needed general anaesthetic!!! Has the warranty expired?

What a stupid and ridiculous terminology? Have these people advocating for it thought about just how detached using terms like this is for women? Like it isn't part of our body, it is just a body piece we can attach or detached at will... like we even have a choice of models?

Winesalot · 30/11/2020 14:39

It wasn't subtle....

PotholeParadies · 30/11/2020 14:45

If this involved an Elsa figurine, I don't want to know. Okay?

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 30/11/2020 14:48

Why this obsession with anal? It's bizarre. Blokes like it, ime, but women? Not so much.

The "Is there any hope for straight people?" article is even worse. The author appears only to have met people who grew up in the 50s.

CoffeeTeaChocolate · 30/11/2020 14:53

I have to say I am a bit more relaxed about this than the school curriculum for SexEd. It is phallocentric, generally awful and completely disregarding any female perspective. But it is not pushed to a captive audience without parental consent. And it could possibly be aimed at older children?

At least I can refuse to pay for it, find the appalling stuff if a child of mine reads it and discuss in detail how stupid it is. In fact, I can preemptively already now start telling my children what drivel teen vogue is. And ask them to assign a stupidity rating between 1-10 on anyone who takes it seriously.

However, I think there are some posters who might welcome this edition and give it to their children regardless of age with a pat on the back. Which is (I guess) parental privilege.

DrDavidBanner · 30/11/2020 14:58

That's a really interesting article Prawn, by interesting I mean eye opening and probably explains why so many younger, and I mean not had a relationship yet young teenagers identify as homosexual or bisexual.

I don't get the anus obsession either. Its almost as if its not really targeted to girls at all Hmm

Winesalot · 30/11/2020 15:03

Sadly, I am finding that the push for female sex to normalise anal sex and choking and spitting in females, particularly teenagers, very disturbing. There is such a male agenda here, it is blatant even when it is being pushed by other women.

Clymene · 30/11/2020 15:18

nypost.com/2020/11/10/millions-of-women-dont-know-where-their-own-vagina-is-located/

A quarter of American women can't identify a vagina on a diagram. Perhaps if we stopped referring to women as vagina owners, they may actually realise that term is supposed to refer to them.

Winesalot · 30/11/2020 15:20

Do you think they can identify a paw paw/papaya then Clymene? Is that why teen vogue used the image?

PotholeParadies · 30/11/2020 15:22

Good for them if they can. I can't identify a papaya. I had to find the text description of the image to confirm what it was.

LaVitaPuoEsserePiuBella · 30/11/2020 15:24

@yourhairiswinterfire

It's really fucking creepy, that they're talking to teenaged girls in this way.

Can you imagine if it were a teacher in the classroom, or a man in the park addressing girls like this? There'd be hell to fucking pay. But degrading children and referring to them as their sexual organs is all good as long as you're doing it to be ''inclusive''.

Sickening.

I agree with this. It's absolutely appalling.
