Planned Parenthood jumps the shark

Planned Parenthood have posted:

Part of observing #TransAwarnessWeek is acknowledging that the use of woman-centric language in reproductive & abortion advocacy is erasure of trans health care.

^Not all women can get pregnant, and women aren't the only people who get pregnant.

Not all women menstruate, and women aren't the only people who menstruate.

Cisgender women aren't the only people who get abortions.^

I do hope someone asks what proportion of their national audience for these services is trans, what proportion don't have English as a first language and if neurodiversity plays any part in their thinking. For the sake of inclusivity. How many women are they in fact excluding with this shift in language?

Americans like to ask why the UK is a hotbed of GC feminism. But why are Americans so intent on robbing women of their rights? The right to name themselves, to single sex spaces, to single sex sports and so on. What went wrong over there?

True vulva.

I think that it doesn't even occur to any of these groups to relabel men. I don't think that they sit around saying hey. Let's start calling women and girls ovulators, menstruators, vulva people, vagina owners, uterus havers, people with front holes etc etc but let's definitely not do that with men because reasons or because we're bastards who hate women.

I think they get pressure from outside groups to change their language for women and they say yeah that's more inclusive. And it never crosses their minds that men are still men.

Rather than. Scrotum owners. Ejaculatory. Semen producers. Penis people. People with a rear hole only. Etc etc...

The hole stuff fucked me off so much. Biologically inaccurate. Men have called us holes forever. Etc.

Would men be ok with being referred to as single hole, rear? I'm guessing. Not so much...

'The other 70 million + have the right to vote plus media, universities, third sector, medical establishment etc etc etc on their side. Those are the people that make decisions. The decision in this case being to erase women as a class.'

That's a pretty big statement.

This stuff is not even known by most people.

The idea that in the USA 70 milion plus all the other bits have had a good think and decided. Let's erase women as a class. Is scaremongering.

People voted the way they did they and now for whatever reasons.

If we must talk about the USA then it's a two party right wing either way choice with neither way giving a shit about women except when it helps them sound strong/ nice etc.

In the UK. Which I'm more familiar with. Being not American etc. (Why do we have to keep talking about America?). No parties stand for women.

We have our fight here.

I'm perfectly happy to talk to USA posters but please remember. We are thousands of miles away with a totally different culture. Cultures. We are a group of countries. Who to be honest have quite enough to be going on with.

If people are upset or whatever about people in the USA voting for trump. Go and talk to them.

The increasing influx of USA posters who are. I dunno. Just being totally tone deaf is increasingly getting on my tits.

I think it's important to keep an eye on America and discuss the issues there because we in UK don't exist in a bubble. Lots of the thinking from over there have made inroads here and continuing to do so. Critical Race Theory being one, for example. It's grown out of a unique American historical experience but the ideas are being imported. Well, all identity politics really.

I'm afraid five minutes on that planned parenthood Twitter thread makes it very clear how very gleefully enjoyable some of those activists are finding their provoking and degrading females. They absolutely delight in it. The 'cry me a river' childish nastiness is staggering in how extreme it is, it's a very infantile version of the kind of arse who shouts sexual comments at women in the street until they get a glare and then shout back their enjoyment of control and abuse and seeing that she hates it but can't escape them with the "you're beautiful when you're angry darling" line.

These kind of posters are not well or at all appropriately behaved people, these are people with serious problems. And it is quite obvious they are getting off on having found a way to unleash this kind of very inappropriate nastiness to meet their own needs, that doesn't lead to disapproval from others. It reminds me of a bunch of kids with a weak teacher who have reached the point of riot because of the lack of boundaries, but yes, it's absolutely intentional to degrade and attack the language for women and hopefully to see women show some emotion about this because of all the lovely power and reward involved. And these posters are not a few rare voices in this thread and hundreds of others, they are the massively dominant voices and often the only voices representing the community they claim to speak for. The time when this could be excused as these are just a few extremists is rapidly passing; particularly when these extremists are the ones directly speaking to and engaging with and supporting actions such as Planned Parenthood is taking. Planned Parenthood are actively supporting abusive misogyny on that thread by not speaking out. The language is therefore not neutral. At all. Planned Parenthood are colluding.

Lundy Bancroft could write a library on posters like these, and their ridiculously stupid enablers.

I'm British with one foot in the US. It is myopic to say we focus only on what is going on in theUK. America's cultural imperialism is partly why we women have the problems we have with regard to the TRA lobby's attempts to erase our rights today in the UK.

And yes, @leafinthewind, neo-Marxism. A world view where every interaction is seen through the lens of oppressor and oppressed, leading to the creation of a new order in which only the Most Oppressed have rights.

See: counter elite as a concept.

And see: the most oppressed had bloody well better do what they're told or else.

Exactly this. That is the time the adult needs to step into the room and say ‘hang on a minute’. They need to take some responsibility for their own content and be prepared for disagreement, not just drop the bomb and bugger off.
