Quite refreshingly they acknowledge that their experience of life is different to that of someone born a girl, and they don’t mind if they are referred to as a trans woman, or a woman. Hopefully someone can share a link to it? Clare is responding to comments under the article.

In a spirit of compassion and kindness towards myself, I have to say that I find the constant disregard of women's feelings and women's wellbeing wearing. It's always juxtaposed with this highly exaggerated regard for male feelings, as if male egos are as delicate and precious as Faberge eggs.

This thread is why I keep coming back to mumsnet feminism board. Women on here are amazing. Thank you for putting into words what I’ve been struggling with.

I have had an “altercation” with a trans person in a women’s bathroom. I was not the instigator. But the whole thing was terrifying and only “being kind” to them got me out of there. I put it down to their possible mental health problems, and tried to put it behind me, but it rattled me more than I care to admit. Fast food restaurant, late at night, I was on my own (thankfully my kids were home but I wish I’d had friends or husband with me).

I am now always on my guard, in public, especially when with the kids. It’s really not right or fair.

I'm not grateful for the crumbs of my own rights offered me by men after they've first feasted on whatever they felt entitled to.

I missed this thread the first time around, including that amazing post from Barracker, above. Especially this quote - what a reality check.
