Is Lewis Hamilton GC?!

DH just asked me if I saw Lewis Hamilton’s t shirt at the weekend.

Women’s rights are Human Rights

Science is Real

Has Lewis come out as Gender Critical? I thought the phrasing was particularly interesting following the TRA’s Trans Rights are Human Rights mantra. And Science is Real. And biology is science right?

With the platform he’s got and has already given to the BLM movement could this be more daylight?

Is Lewis Hamilton GC?!

The bottom line is “Love is Love”?

FindTheTruth · 03/11/2020 22:17

refreshing. has anyone else worn the words 'women's rights are human rights'? is this a first?

AgnesNaismith · 03/11/2020 22:18

Well either he’s fully unaware of the current situation or he’s come out as gender critical.

AgnesNaismith · 03/11/2020 22:19

Also - what’s wrong with ‘love is love’??

Posted from the other thread that is running

Love is love...

Hmm.

I suspect it's just a T-shirt he thought looked good, starts with BLM and everything underneath sounds good and virtuous too. The shirt in various forms retails fairly widely.

the thought process was probably as follows:
Women's rights - great all for that
Immigration - topical, good.
Science is real - well duh, who can argue against science?
Love is love - absolutely, anyone should be able to love whoever they want

(So who wants to point out to him some people take love is love that to mean children, animals etc, and that he has inadvertently become transphobic)

Redcrayons · 03/11/2020 22:24

Didn’t he post a video taking the pis out of his nephew for wearing a princess dress?

exwhyzed · 03/11/2020 22:24

@AgnesNaismith

Also - what’s wrong with ‘love is love’??
It's ok that they are under 16 because, love is love

See the problem?

AgnesNaismith · 03/11/2020 22:27

Ohhhhhhh. I see now! Thanks BlushConfused

There seem to be some very delayed repeated posts tonight!

sleepwhenidie · 03/11/2020 22:56

this Lewis Hamilton took the piss out of a child’s clothing? HmmConfusedSmile

Serious answer to the question, I think he probably hasn’t thought very deeply about it. This after all is the man who pontificated about how everyone should be vegan for the sake of the planet whilst spending his life driving race cars and hanging out on yachts and private planes Hmm

olderthanyouthink · 03/11/2020 23:43

Doubt it

Womens rights might be about access to abortions more than the right to single sex spaces

TibetanTerrier · 04/11/2020 00:01

@Butterer

Yep. His humiliating his nephew for wearing a dress was really shitty.
Hardly humiliating. The kid is a toddler, Hamilton said "Boys don't wear princess dresses" and the child giggled his head off.
ClarenceBoddicker · 04/11/2020 00:24

I don’t think he’s too bright really and has flip flopped on several polarising issues over the years. Don’t think he reads around many subjects too much but is a very good racing driver. I wish we didn’t pay too much attention to famous people on such issues unless they seem generally knowledgeable and the attention isn’t because of fame alone.

It’s like rappers or grime artists being lauded as heroes when all of their material is misogynistic and homophobic

NiceGerbil · 04/11/2020 00:27

Agree re he probably didn't think too hard on the t-shirt.

Yes he's the chap who took the piss/ or whatever about a child in the 'wrong' clothes for their sex.

ClarenceBoddicker · 04/11/2020 00:29

Usually by leftie publications as well. Yes looking at you the Guardian. Suddenly Frankie Boyle is a darling and Stormzy is canonised. Got nothing wrong with them particularly and we’re all allowed to mature or change but don’t give celebs so much credit in the first place.

It’s not my right to say stick to this and dismiss them as they’re entitled to an opinion as much as anyone but their opinions tend to be given too credence. I too am as entitled to an opinion as celebs but funnily enough am not fawned over in the papers

ClarenceBoddicker · 04/11/2020 00:33

I’ll listen to him more than Joe Public when talking about Formula 1 but his opinion is no more important than anyone’s here if talking about Global Warming or Gender issues

BettyFloop · 04/11/2020 00:40

I'll believe Lewis Hamilton is on board with the GC position when I see him in a 'This Witch Doesn't Burn' t-shirt Grin

NiceGerbil · 04/11/2020 00:44

Agree that the interest in the views of people who are famous for acting/ sport etc is a bit weird.

Having said that Colin kapernick (sp) is awesome and obv many female sports stars on feminism and dame tanni grey Thompson on disability matters...

So I've confused myself now :D

ClarenceBoddicker · 04/11/2020 00:44

I’m not a Trump fan but can see why some of the idiot virtue signalling elite pontificating from their mansions might sway some. Not sure how many or if it makes a real difference but they clearly don’t help and would be better off being quieter if they really wanted to help. Funniest incident I read was when Di Caprio flew from New York to Cannes to back on a private jet to pick up some environmental award

ClarenceBoddicker · 04/11/2020 00:47

All of the super high earners dodge as much tax as possible which I suppose is something many people would do but they could at least not drone on so much. Higher taxes are for the smaller people who can’t afford an army of accountants and lawyers to do the same thing
