The other weird thing about Helen is that her Twitter account purports to have 14 thousand followers, yet her rants get more attention here than they do on Twitter, a smattering of likes and replies here and there, and often retweets herself. She’s either fading into irrelevance or those followers aren’t exactly genuine.

This is why I will not donate to Children in need or Comic relief. I do my homework and make sure my small contributions go to organisations that do actually help vulnerable women and children.

No half a million pounds of lottery money, no government funding. Just ordinary women and men horrified that safeguarding and women's and children's rights are being erased.

Pretending that Nicola Williams is obtaining money, in order to undermine the equality act, rather than to uphold it, is seriously out of line. I hope she sues.

Did they meet the stretch target? Or is the funding website doing the same thing they did with Allison Bailey and closing the donations option as soon as the initial target has been reached?

Hi Squirrel Nutkin. Nothing sinister here. As I understand it, it's standard to run for 28 days so it ended on Sunday night. I know they are delighted with the support. They got very close to the stretch target with a huge rush on the last day. They had not asked for any funding for two years so they really needed it. You might notice that the DONATE buttons are a bit more prominent on their website now so hopefully they won't have to do another big ask, unless there's something major like a legal case.
