Retailer called MeUndies announces new range of Harry Potter themed pyjamas. Attracts predictable responses. Also, notably, huge kickback against the first few woke replies.

This person has utterly lost the plot. No attempt to engage with any replies, of course. I'd have said alleging JKR is advocating violence against trans people was libellous.

Brands continue to disappoint, but @MeUndies takes the cake this week. For a purported LGBTQI friendly brand their Harry Potter partnership upset me. I wrote them and asked them not to support anything that helps a TERF profit, and they said no. Don't buy their stuff. Ever.

Seriously, multiple super-defensive and dismissive emails that they've done enough for the LGBTQI folx out there. You can't hurt people with a campaign like this and not care, say you've done enough in the past, @medundies. Your greed is showing.

Seriously, this wanton disregard for the safety of LGBTQI folx makes me hope that @MeUndies takes a serious hit to their bottom line. Soft underwear is everywhere, people. Buy the stuff that doesn't support campaigns and voices that advocate violence against trans folx.

Disregard for safety? For selling pyjamas Grin I'm not surprised they weren't taken seriously, that's embarrassing.

Tannins · 30/10/2020 12:34

Folx?

My word.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 30/10/2020 12:36

It's a horrible word, isn't it. What's it supposed to signify? Is ks offensive in some way that x isn't?

Harry Potter merchandise is violence Shock

Beamur · 30/10/2020 12:50

This is the kind of response women get from the likes of Always/Flora/etc when we complain...no one likes to be on the receiving end!
Good for MeUndies if they hold their line.
I suspect HP merch is just too lucrative to bin off.

DrGachet · 30/10/2020 12:52

But they're just pyjamas! (For folx sake)

Deliriumoftheendless · 30/10/2020 12:53

someone knows who will be handing over their cash and who will be noisy on social media.

BaronessWrongCrowd · 30/10/2020 12:53

Halloween Hmm I wonder if any of these people actually enjoy life and know how to laugh? Or do they spend all day policing the internet trying to make everyone else as miserable as they seem to be?
Halloween Confused

Escapeplanning · 30/10/2020 12:57

Hilariously, they only sell women and mens sizes.

ChristopherLillicrap · 30/10/2020 12:58

Those perilous PJs, eh? Confused

Malahaha · 30/10/2020 12:58

And at the same time, what beautiful publicity for MeUndies!!! Promotion you couldn't pay for. I'm not into Harry P and would never have heard of them otherwise; but now, if I were a fan, and heard of then through this brouhaha, I'd be off to by a nice new pair of pjs!

These people are beyond ignorant. They are bringing attention and MORE SALES to this company. Who'd a thunk it?

Collidascope · 30/10/2020 13:00

Folx 😂 Is that the woke - I mean woxe -version of folk? I actually did laugh out loud at those tweets.

PostItJoyWeek · 30/10/2020 13:06

The replies are excellent.

Shame it is US not UK. I hope they do gift wrap because if so I'll order HP pyjamas for Christmas for my US family.

AgnesNaismith · 30/10/2020 13:14

Looks like they ship internationally......new customer here!

BraveBananaBadge · 30/10/2020 13:30

We get MeUndies in our house already thanks to blanket podcast advertising over the years 😁

In the replies they say they don’t agree with the author’s comments but it doesn’t seem to be doing them any good. “Make amends”, “give the profits to a trans charity”, “you’re funding hate”. How fragile do you have to be? How do these people get through life?

PostItJoyWeek · 30/10/2020 13:35

They have some right loons posting.

I thought this was a joke but no, 100% sarcasm free, totally serious.

This is so fucking ridiculous. People are "hurt" and feel "unsafe" because a company is selling products they don't like? What the fuck is wrong with everyone. They're pyjamas! This is all just so fucking STUPID.

IwishNothingButTheBestForYou2 · 30/10/2020 14:07

Why are they called meUndies?

Is it "me" as in "my" and do they just sell underwear (and pyjamas)?

PostItJoyWeek · 30/10/2020 14:23

They sell underwear/nightwear/loungewear with a focus on comfort and gender neutrality. They promote themselves as woke and supportive of gender non-conforming people.

It seems they are genuinely supportive of being gender non-conforming, given they won't condemn JKR. They will have known what the TRAs think of her so won't have gone into this HP promotion lightly. All of this seems to have surprised some of their TRA woke customers.

Hilariously the ones having wokey tantrums keep recommending TomboyX to each other as an alternative for gender neutral underwear, then one points out that TomboyX is not fully on board with the TRA agenda despite selling comfy boxers for women. Who would have thought it with a name like that? Not a brain cell between them.

SunsetScreech · 30/10/2020 14:27

My word, the hyperbole!

TweeBree · 30/10/2020 14:29

I must have clicked on something Harry Potter-related because I get tons of Harry Potter merchandise posts directed at me on FB. There were a few anti-Rowling posts when it first happened but it's barely even mentioned anymore. Retailers know HP is still a goldmine.

LockdownLump · 30/10/2020 14:37

Folx 😂😂😂

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 30/10/2020 14:41

Harry Potter and the Killer Pyjamas

Are they in league with the Dressing Gown of Doom?

Grin
Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 30/10/2020 14:51

Harry Potter and ...

The Pants of Perdition.

The Lethal Lingerie

The Boggart's Brassiere.

The Assassin's Socks.

Hmmm, looks like the company realises that the money they’ll make out of HP merch far outweighs what they’ll lose from a couple of hundred (maximum) woke folxs on Twitter who say they’ll cancel they’re subscriptions.
Are companies finally realising that loud people on Twitter are a massive irrelevance? God, I hope so, should have happened years ago.
