The bullying by students around the UK of anyone who wont submit to their rainbow mantra continues.

Information via WPUK:

Edinburgh Labour Students today published a statement attacking Ann Henderson, a prominent and respected Labour Party and trade union activist for attending our meeting on Sex and the Census on Sunday 18th October. Around 500 people attended this webinar which you can watch on our YouTube channel.

(NB ELS have now taken down their facebook post which was really nasty in tone.)

womansplaceuk.org/2020/10/26/edinburgh-labour-students/

James Kirkup has written in the Spectator about student campaign to get Kevin Price sacked from his job as a College porter
www.spectator.co.uk/article/the-trans-debate-could-cost-this-cambridge-porter-his-job

(text on WPUK fb page www.facebook.com/womansplaceuk/posts/1263587303995453 )

Really depressing to see students behave in this way, but as someone commented on facebook, even more depressing to know that these students will one day be in positions of influence, eg media and politics.

Students led the way in the Cultural Revolution too.

PopperUppleton · 27/10/2020 18:47

Ann Henderson, the Rector of the University of Edinburgh?

stumbledin · 27/10/2020 18:56

Yes, it seems so though WPUK dont mention that, but it looks like there was another attack on her in 2018 that WPUK wrote about womansplaceuk.org/free-speech-at-edinburgh-university/ so presumably this is just a continuation of bullying and harrassing a women who stands up for women's rights.

Its all so depressing.

If you search for SunsetScreech's thread Deep Dive Into the Dentons Document by @STILLTish ( background: www.spectator.co.uk/article/the-document-that-reveals-the-remarkable-tactics-of-trans-lobbyists/amp ), you'll find links to a review which shows that targeting youth politicians has been a deliberate tactic by TWAW lobbyists.

Does the new gov't guidance on teaching students that cancel culture is unacceptable apply to college students? Halloween Hmm

stumbledin · 27/10/2020 19:02

Have found the text of the Edinburgh students statement on Butterflies and Wheels www.butterfliesandwheels.org/2020/point-hiss/

It seems to be part of a campaign to make sure she doen's get voted onto Labour NEC.

It's all very Salem Witches with more than a hint of McCarthyism.

Have you ever been, or are you ... a woman? In which case you are guilty. Angry

Now, I didn’t go to Oxbridge and I’m not much for Marxist analysis of society as a class struggle. But I know enough about both to suggest that there’s something both distasteful and revealing about a bunch of Cambridge undergraduates threatening the livelihood of a man employed to serve them because he refuses to share their opinions and adopt their language.

The obnoxious, entitled, viciously snobbish little shits. Some of the most privileged and cosseted brats in the country, officiously demanding that a support-staff worker be fired for not genuflecting to their gods. They are vile.

And my heart goes out to the gender critical students, who will exist, and will be scared shitless by this totalitarianism. Apart from anything else, their idea of 'inclusion' is to alter the signs on the loos to read, "stalls" and "stalls and urinals". Truly, women are allowed nothing of their own... while men? As you were, lads.

Labour MNers will have to make sure she does.

I’ve given up on them. DH hasn’t, but he’s promised he will do his bit on this.

I voted for her... I'd forgot I had the link in my inbox

The Cambridge porter story has been picked up by the daily mail.
It shows up under the story about the police officer who accidentally strangled his mistress and next to the story about the young headmaster who is not being jailed despite watching child porn on the dark web while his wife and child were asleep.

I hope Kevin’s ok. I don’t think these students understand the reality of unemployment. Or free speech. Or safeguarding.

fakenina · 27/10/2020 23:20

ah, god speed to the brave, underdog, salt of the earth, justice warriors of Cambridge uni, taking on their facist working class overlords.

stumbledin · 27/10/2020 23:41

Also we should acknowledge the Feminist Student Group at Cambridge (cant remember precise name) who have been standing up for the ex councillor Kevin Price.

What a topsy turvy world. Feminist standing up for a male porter at a posh college, and Labour students campaigning to get him sacked.

Exactly.

Fortunately this sort of targeted cancelling is on the government so radar now.

They need to intervene.

Datun · 28/10/2020 00:06

Random 'so' in there.

FWRLurker · 28/10/2020 00:26

So I actually think that these students have every right to make ridiculous and stupid demands, assuming they make no direct threats or commit violent acts. IMO the solution to bad ideas/speech is more speech.

What needs to stop is anyone giving these people a second of serious concern. And they should expect to have their ideas challenged and torn apart in turn.

The occasional firm 'no' wouldn't go amiss either
stumbledin · 28/10/2020 01:00

I think it was more that they published untruths about WPUK who asked them to rretract.

They did retract, but refused to say they were in the wrong, but had had to defend their poor trans allies from horrible bullying - ie WPUK asking them to publish the truth not lies.

Title makes it sound like she was assaulted.

Tissueboxcover · 29/10/2020 12:14

Anybody seen " The Killing Fields"?
Watching those teenagers killing their teachers and doctors because of brainwashing ideology was chilling.
It is really, really disturbing, in 2020, watching supposedly intelligent students being convinced by this evil ideology and turning so viciously on good people.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 29/10/2020 12:29

I haven’t, Tissuebox, but there’s a book called Between Shades Of Grey by Ruta Sepytys about a Lithuanian family who were exiled to Siberia by the communists after WW2. It’s fiction but very well researched and there is a very disturbing and upsetting scene where the soldiers are going round rounding people up including a woman who is dragged from hospital right after giving birth. The soldiers are young, some of them teenagers.
When young people express the view that anything is fine if it’s against terfs my blood runs cold.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 29/10/2020 16:15

Stop, stop, we're all wrong! The students aren't a bunch of overprivileged little shits!

The writer of that piece in the student magazine, calling for a porter to lose his job because he wouldn't say TWAW, has explained everything in a tweet:
"Hello, as the author of this piece I am happy to inform you that every person cited has participated in extensive class-based activism since arriving in Cambridge and several of us also study it "

There. You silly feminists. We should listen to our betters, who know all about class-based oppression because they do it all the time but are too far up their own arses to recognise it have actually studied it.

Thanks Graham Linehan for the tweet screenshot at
grahamlinehan.substack.com/p/things-that-make-you-go-hmm

The student rant was printed with a warning for the faint-hearted: "This article contains discussion of transphobia". You can read it if you dare at www.varsity.co.uk/news/20079 But don't blame me if the horror literally kills you.
Grin

You're trying to get a working class Labour activist sacked for not subscribing to your luxury beliefs, and for being fully aware that the most marginalised women in society - those in prison, or accessing homelessness shelters, or who rely on state provision for rape survival care or a refuge bed - suffer most from any removal of their sex-based rights. A gaggle of extraordinarily privileged kids, hectoring working class people on what they may think, and threatening their jobs if they won't comply. And this bullshit is not new.

Horrendously privileged children, imperiously demanding that a man who is employed to wait upon them be fired for defending the horrendously underprivileged women in the links above.

But I'm probably being awfully unfair to Antonia. I bet Mummy bravely ventured into Lidl once.
