Facemasks on for a trip to the Bluestocking

We haven't had a Bluestocking thread for fucking ages.

Anyone fancy a socially distanced, tables of no more than 6, Bluestocking?

The goat has been covid tested and the patriarchy busting canon polished up to remove all possible virus traces from its surface.

Remember, MN spans the globe, and it's always before the 10pm curfew somewhere.

Just use cooked new potatoes as a sandwich filling. They're good for rambles when you need carbs and plenty of them

theThreeofWeevils · 31/03/2021 13:17

Ta, Pothole.
I'm thinking a touch of garlic mayonnaise might not be a bad thing...

highame · 31/03/2021 14:18

I'm thinking Campari and Soda and wondering where the heatwave went, some of you must still have blue sky. This evening I have a zoom art group. Our theme is 'Treasure' so I'm going for 'international treasure' and have chosen Jimi Hendrix. The term national treasure has always hacked me right off because the choices are not mine and there was no national poll just some arty type telling me. So that I can spend longer here and down a few more -

Who would your non-national treasure be?

PotholeHellhole · 31/03/2021 14:53

The works of Monet. His genius for painting water enthralls me.

Thelnebriati · 31/03/2021 16:03

The Lascaux cave paintings. Those ceilings are 30 feet high, and the entrance tunnels are so twisty you couldn't carry in a 30 foot ladder.

MaudTheInvincible · 31/03/2021 16:15

I would quite like a vodka tonic in a beer garden on the river. Is The Bluestocking near a river?

DaisiesandButtercups · 31/03/2021 17:05

I’ll vote for the Lascaux cave paintings, that is some impressive stuff.

There’s a river running past the garden. There are otters living under the bridge. There is a lovely display of primroses out on the other side of the river bank...

It is a shame about the weather today, yesterday was gorgeous.

ErrolTheDragon · 31/03/2021 17:42

Lovely weather in Lancashire still. Set fair for the next few days, cooling down a bit but that's better for walking and the gorgeous spring flowers will last longer if it's not too hot. (I'm going to put in a shameless plug for the Nature Notes thread hidden in the depths of the No Corona Zone board).

I'd like to propose a toast to the welcome return of R0. Wine

CardinalLolzy · 31/03/2021 23:23

I'll join you in that!

R0wantrees · 31/03/2021 23:30

I thought I would pop in for a nightcap and have a half bottle of a smoky malt with me if anyone would like a wee dram!

Its been a long time and is lovely to be back.

RabbitOfCaerbannog · 31/03/2021 23:39

If I may be so bold I'd love to shout you a whiskey R0 🥃 Cheers!

R0wantrees · 31/03/2021 23:46

Cheers Rabbit !

PotholeHellhole · 02/04/2021 11:18

I'll have a bottle, barkeep.

terryleather · 02/04/2021 11:36

Good to see you back R0, it feels like we've lost a lot of the old guard (maybe they've name changed...?) so it's lovely to see you return.

Have a whisky on me and I'll have a sneaky shot of Rumbullion.

Chin-chin!

DaisiesandButtercups · 02/04/2021 17:58

Mine’s whiskey and ginger please.

Cheers all.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 03/04/2021 15:07

Watching the TV in the snug, I'm surprised by the pointedness of some of the items in A Black Lady Sketch Show - I might well look for it elsewhere.

I liked some of the random lines in the 'New Instructor - Critically Acclaimed AUTHOR' - WORLD RENOWNED PHILOSOPHIZER' sketch.

You've got to ignore the empirical evidence that contradicts your own beliefs.

There's also a "Bad Bitch Support Group" - missing vipers of course.

Many thanks terry Its a shame so many wise women have left the board / been forced out. Good to see some familiar names though and the Blue Stocking is looking lovely this year.

Chin-chin!

OwBist · 12/04/2021 16:22

I think this bar could get quite busy..... But silent, as we all sit in splendid isolation, and don't dare to talk amongst ourselves, just in case we draw the attention of our external monitors.

So, in true casual bar-speak;. Nice to see you. Been anywhere nice recently? Oh, wait. How about; got any exotic holidays coming up? No.... I'll get the tumble weed ready.

TinselAngel · 12/04/2021 16:25

At least we can sit in the beer garden now.

Bordois · 12/04/2021 16:27

Only in groups of 6 though 😉

DaisiesandButtercups · 12/04/2021 16:28

Yes isn’t lovely out here?!

I am so happy to see you two! I really needed a drink and some pleasant company whether to sit in silent companionship or shout at each other across the garden.
