thelincolnite.co.uk/2020/10/transgender-police-woman-found-with-explosives-and-gun-appears-in-court/

The photo is a still from a YouTube video showing this person clubbing a water melon with Germaine Greer's photo on it.
Obviously not keen on feministsHmm

Other media like the BBC refer to this person as simply a " woman'"Confused No pictures of course.

Scary photos

Zoe, who was also a trade union activist serving as the equalities officer for the Lincolnshire Police UNISON

Terrific.

gardenbird48 · 08/10/2020 13:22

yes, I heard that on the news last night and thought it sounded strange. It seems like an unusual crime for a woman then I googled it and there was another person convicted in 2018 who was actually listed as a trans gender woman and then another 'woman' in 2016 without a picture.

Nowadays if there is no picture and the crime involves violence I tend to assume it wasn't committed by a woman even if that report implies otherwise.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 08/10/2020 13:24

The comments are depressing. Lots of wokies complaining that the article mentioned that this person is transgender.

BovaryX · 08/10/2020 13:26

This person was serving as the 'equalities officer' for Lincolnshire police? Gosh.

BovaryX · 08/10/2020 13:28

Yes. A curious career trajectory....

The comments improve! Plus the number of likes for them. Do help...

The war on women is raging, and they're coming at us from every angle.

MaudTheInvincible · 08/10/2020 13:39

I think IPSO's guidance has a lot to do with why the press often leave the fact these people are trans out of the report. It says that it shouldn't be mentioned if it's not necessary for the piece, so if it's an attack on a trans person the assumption is that their gender identity is a aggravating factor and therefore necessary to any article, but if it's an attack by a trans person it has no relevance at all and should be left out.

The BBC article is illuminating in what it has deliberately omitted. No mention of this person's job as 'equalities officer.' No picture.

CaraDuneRedux · 08/10/2020 14:17

Oh lovely. Baseball bats wrapped in barbed wire or with nails in them.

Just as well this never happens, isn't it?

andyoldlabour · 08/10/2020 14:23

Large human being smashing hell out of a water melon, arrested for owning an illegal weapon, explosives.
But the woke comments are only worried about mentioning the transgender status and deadnaming.
God help us for the future.

Exactly. Well said.

Thesuzle · 08/10/2020 14:32

Think I’ve managed to send a complaint email to BBC Lincolnshire

BrassicaRabbit · 08/10/2020 14:34

Wasn't there a study showing those who seek to commit acts of terrorism are often already violent towards women?

Or is that yet another interesting area of research that needs to be suppressed in order to fit the new woke world.

JaniceBattersby · 08/10/2020 14:47

I am a journalist and have avoided trouble with IPSO by the skin of my teeth for ‘needlessly’ Hmm mentioning someone was trans in my headline. The guidelines are very clear and if you want to report someone is trans these days, you basically have to ignore the guidelines which means you could get the sack.

The Lincolnite’s report goes way beyond the scope of what is allowed to be reported in Magistrates Court Act 1980 and I’d be surprised if a professional journalist had written it. IMO the pictures and videos of her and in particular the headline which has already said she’s guilty before the trial (!) are in contempt of court and could potentially put at risk any potential conviction should the charges go to court.

NotTerfNorCis · 08/10/2020 14:51

Other media like the BBC refer to this person as simply a " woman'"

Should be illegal.

Kantastic · 08/10/2020 14:54

IMO the pictures and videos of her... are in contempt of court

could you explain that? I understand the part about the headline, but with respect to pictures and videos, they not edited, and this person made the pictures and videos freely available to the public unprompted and uncoerced, why can't journalists report it?

As you can see I'm very ignorant on this subject!

CaraDuneRedux · 08/10/2020 15:05

I think (correct me if I'm wrong Janice ) that the article should use phrases like "charged with" and "alleged to have been in possession of" because the case hasn't been to court..

I fear Janice is right - this person will walk free because they can't be guaranteed a free trial now. (Echoes of when the Daily Mirror managed to collapse the Leeds footballers trial back in the 90s with an I'll timed front page).

NewlyGranny · 08/10/2020 15:54

First image of an actual barbed-wire wrapped baseball bat I've seen - so far. Of course we want to share our songle sex spaces with this sister! Whay wouldn't we?

Clymene · 08/10/2020 16:06

IPSO guidelines:
12. Discrimination

i) The press must avoid prejudicial or pejorative reference to an individual's, race, colour, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or to any physical or mental illness or disability.

ii) Details of an individual's race, colour, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical or mental illness or disability must be avoided unless genuinely relevant to the story.

So despite the fact that this violent individual is behaving in a very male way, the media is not allowed to report their sex as a fact?

I'd argue it's genuinely relevant to the story

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 08/10/2020 18:10

Well TRAs do like to imagine they’re American. That’s why they all say ‘y’all’ as well.
