Kiera will be interviewed at some point between 6 and 9am.

Good grief Phil is a biased interviewer. Keira did very well in the face of that bollocks. She comes across so calm. This must be a very difficult day with a round of interviews before her court case but it is being brought to a new audience.

Its good to see detransitioners having space to speak on a mainstream TV programme. I thought her comments about the use of online forums, initial happiness when she started treatment and background issues she had with being gender non conforming and lesbian were really helpful as some TV shows/articles depicting trans journeys do not feature these (not that this is feature for everyone but it was for her).

Phillip asking her about her statement that you can't change sex was interesting as her response that a few years ago she would have said people could change sex but she now knows its not true. You can only change your appearance. And Phillip asking her about trans children threatening suicide - what would she say to their mum's. Whilst I think its really important to talk about suicide, it should be done sensitively and I'm not sure chucking it in at then end of an interview is very helpful.

The response she seems to have gotten on Twitter for her This Morning appearance is disgusting. It generally seems to be
"You asked doctors to help you transition and then changed your mind and blamed them? Thicko."
No matter that she was a child when this happened. Despite all their talk of how much distress young trans people must go through (which I don't doubt at all), to them Keira is nothing more than an inconvenience to their doctrine.

FairFriday · 06/10/2020 13:58

Then on the other hand people say small children ‘know’ enough to go down the same pathway?

highame · 06/10/2020 15:04

A few things in the offing. Kiera's other case is on hold, but will need a little spade work at a later date.

There is the Girl Guiding one that is due soon and that's important, Kate Alcock, go have a read

@AbsintheFriends you may want to search for "LEGAL CASE TO PROTECT CHILDREN FROM EXPERIMENTAL MEDICAL TREATMENT" and see what you dig up

Well Keira has walked the talk, so you would think she would have a great deal more credibility.

I would also think that with Schofield's recent history you could not expect him to be a balanced interviewer. He will need to toe the line on this sort of issue, even if that line is now looking way off the centre. There has been some good PR around his case and he is beholden. He wasn't a good choice - maybe Holly should have done it alone?

There have been several TRAs on here echoing the exact same sentiments.

It's her fault. And when it's pointed out that this is taught in schools and reinforced online via social media, they said then it's her parents fault.

Your child might commit suicide if you don't comply, and if you do comply, it's your fault if it all goes wrong.

Instead of laying the responsibility firmly on the shoulders of both doctors and lobby groups.

Thankfully, the government are waking up and making statements to at least stop extremist teaching in schools.

I note that Keira talked about forums and when she was asked on Twitter if one of them was Mermaids she didn’t answer.

highame · 06/10/2020 16:17

A wise young woman. In the middle of a court case, you do not go outside of the boundaries your lawyers have set you.

Kit19 · 06/10/2020 16:21

The fox botherer is busily lying on twitter saying that mermaids & stonewall were prevented from participating. He’s been set straight - not that he gaf or will correct

Good on Keira saying she’s now grounded in reality.

ItalianHat · 06/10/2020 16:52

Ms Bell was brilliant! Straightforward, rational, argument & reason-led. And - sorry Keira - but hearing her voice (presumably permanently changed because of unnecessary & harmful drugs) almost made me cry. I know that's wrong of me, but it really brought home the way in which the drugs she was given, without due care, from her account of the "affirmation model" have changed her irrevocably.

And here's to all the gender non-conforming women and girls, young & old! Long may they refuse to conform to oppressive stereotypes. Flowers

They never show up for the detransitioners do they. So any claims to care about trans health care are just untrue becuase clearly you'd want evey avenue explored in order to ensure that what you were doing was absolutely the right thing.

Instead there's just outrage at the prospect that children might not have their development stunted...
