@HPFA thank you

@DaisiesandButtercups

Psychological conditions need psychological treatments.

Brilliant interview Keira.

Star

that's the sentence!! Well done Keira, you were super clear and got your point across beautifully - all power to you.

Such a true statement and it is so wrong that anyone has tried to prevent it being viewed as a psychological condition. If no one is born in the wrong body, why is anyone being offered medical treatment and surgery? The WHO stated that it is the trans organisations that pushed to have it reclassified so that any sort of gender dysphoria, whatever the root cause, is not offered mental health treatment - they all funnel straight down the affirmation route.

That poor person on the SFW fb page this morning - a 14 yr old suffering from gender dysphoria, double mastectomy booked for two weeks time, hormones already started and dysphoria getting worse.

The mum is researching how to help the child post surgery, worrying that their bed is too low so they will struggle getting up and down with the surgery wounds - why aren't they being helped to investigate the root cause of the dysphoria??

The doctors in America (and private doctors in the UK) are promoting this hard - they instantly create a huge income stream with a patient that has lifelong medical needs (especially if you can persuade them to go for the phalloplasty - I saw a blog last night where a twenty something is now in a wheelchair because the treatment has taken such a toll on their body). No wonder the big pharmaceuticals are funding Stonewall (it is on their public accounts if anyone wants to check) - follow the money.

Just listened.

I dont know what to say reakky other than good luck.

And thank you.

From the bottom if my heart. Thank you. For my kids for everyones kids. There are no words to express how grateful I am to you and how proud of your determination and bravery I think we all are.

I hope that even at the darkest times through out all this that you are abke to remember that. We are here we maybe nameless and we may be just words on a screen on here but we are all with you!

So again. Thank you Flowers

Keira does indeed need a bit of spadework.

The CJ site is good ground to start with...

ChattyLion · 06/10/2020 09:56

Brilliant interview Keira, thank you for giving so much your time and energy to this fight. So many women are behind you. Thank you. Flowers

AbsintheFriends · 06/10/2020 09:58

Thanks tea.

I tried typing Kiera Bell into the search box on the CJ site, but nothing came up. For others looking to put in some spadework, Googling Kiera Bell crowdjustice took me to the page.

Siablue · 06/10/2020 10:02

What a brilliant interview. I think Keira and her lawyer covered all the key points. Psychological conditions need psychological treatment and there is no evidence base for safe use in children. Anyone new to the case would get a good grasp of the key points.

I really hope that proper support for people with gender dysphoria comes out of this.

NecessaryScene1 · 06/10/2020 10:04

I tried typing Kiera Bell into the search box

It's "Keira". Maybe OP could request a title correction?

MaryBCH · 06/10/2020 10:07

Clear, unemotional speaking. Interviewer allowed her to speak uninterrupted. Very unusual.

AbsintheFriends · 06/10/2020 10:20

Ahh - that could explain it Necessary, thank you!

Manderleyagain · 06/10/2020 10:25

She was really very good on the radio. Totally clear, calm message. She's good at it.

It takes a particular kind of person to do something hard like this even though it won't really benefit her directly - it's for other people. Much respect.

The lawyer was very good too. Keira's experience sounds different to the stated policy which (I thought) was 'watchful waiting'. It will be interesting to see how the court pick through that.

If you are looking for the crowd justice page just remember that there was a second keira bell case which has been dropped because the NHS announced the Cass review, but I think the page is still there - the updates state its dropped.

Absinthe it's Keira, not Kiera , but also the one that comes up for me if you search on her name is her other case, which has now been stopped due to the NHS review by Hilary Cass which has now been announced and would cover much of the same ground.

To find the funder for the case starting tomorrow you need to search for Susan Evans as she was the person who originally set it up, but they later decided to replace her as a claimant with Keira (I think that's the right wording!).

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 06/10/2020 10:29

(Excuse partial cross-posts with some of the above!)

persistentwoman · 06/10/2020 10:34

This is really important and well done to her and Susan Evans. If you've previously contributed Susan has emailed with a case update and a link to the allotment.

persistentwoman · 06/10/2020 10:46

Keira is about to be interviewed on This Morning.

BadTimesAtTheElRoyale · 06/10/2020 10:54

She is no on This Morning and has clearly stated that you can't change sex. Best of luck to you Keira you are doing such an important thing.

persistentwoman · 06/10/2020 11:00

She did really well in the face of some tough questions. Mermaids need to tell Philip Schofield that no one is now born in the wrong body- he obviously didn't get the memo.

yourhairiswinterfire · 06/10/2020 11:02

Did you see Phillip's reaction to that? He acted shocked and said that saying you can't change your sex is a 'very bold' claim. Hmm It's the truth, Phil, and claiming otherwise helps no one.

Keira's very brave for doing this, I can't even begin to imagine myself going through this at her age. It must be daunting, but so important.

persistentwoman · 06/10/2020 11:04

Schofield also parroted the old suicide trope about better a live daughter than dead son. He really has swallowed the Mermaids script hook line and sinker.

yourhairiswinterfire · 06/10/2020 11:06

As for the parents of the 'sex changed' children they mentioned saying they're positive their kids would have killed themselves had they not transitioned...we've all seen where, or more like who, that kind of scaremongering comes from...

FairFriday · 06/10/2020 11:14

He said that to her face? Amazing she didn’t poke him in the eye.
persistentwoman · 06/10/2020 11:19

I so wish the Samaritans would openly challenge this . They're so clear in their media reporting guidelines but as usual, when talking about trans and children, ethics and responsibility goes out of the window.

BovaryX · 06/10/2020 11:25

Keira is a brave, principled woman who has been through a medical ordeal she should never have suffered. As many PP have said, this is a scandal and I think Keira shows such courage in making these issues public when so many with a warped agenda want her to be quiet. How many more cases like this before the medical profession is held to public account?
