How many women in Ireland are here?

Sorry, Im sure this has been done before, but I'm new to posting here, though I was a heavy mumsnet user back in the baby days.

I am entirely gender critical, but in secret. Only talk about it with two close friends, follow debates on Twitter but don't join in because it's all so awful.

I feel like I've got to the point though where I feel I need to do something in the fight against this. But what to do? I don't really want to join in any Twitter debate because its just abuse.

Anyway I don't really know what my point is other than that I'm angry and I'm glad to connect with some like minded women.

Its absolutely a replacement for religion.

Its infuriating to see all these big names 'bravely' condemningthe sins of the past in this country, while enabling tomorrows scandals.

Theses no risk to condemning the Magdalen homes, meanwhile you have City Councillors literally laughing about the women in limerick jail currently locked up with not one, but two rapists.
And smear campaigns against anyone who even notices.

This x 100. I scream at the TV now when I see them and I can only listen to Spin FM (and even then, only a handful of programmes) because the level of critical thought in Irish media is so shamefully low. We seem to love as a people to bow down to an ideology and those people who are at the forefront of this are the very people who could have been at the forefront of condemning women to the Magdalene laundries in former times. There is no justice for women in Ireland.

It is so weird to remember how vilified the suffragettes were by other women, but if you look at your life now you see that is where you are - the irony that all these women politicians expect us to believe they would have been on the side of the suffragettes - by their actions to-day we know they would have been 100% on the side of the establishment.

@NorthernIrishFeminist

Another here, Northern Irish (as you can tell from the name) living in England. I use a variety of names here so you won't see this one much.

My family are from a rural part of the border. Those in the South are oblivious to the law change.

The support for this ideology in Ireland feels like a religion replacement. And let's face it those amongets us brought up Catholic know women's concerns on safeguarding are easily pushed aside by men. How long has it taken for the government to apologise for the laundries, this will take longer

Yes! A complete religion replacement and a "look at us sure we're not homophobic religious bigots anymore " Erasing the sins of the past towards women and children by erasing what it even means to be a women!!

Just to clear up a few points.

The GRA was quietly put through with no public consultation.

Barbie was the subject of a gag order that stopped the press reporting the facts

People are now speaking up, albeit privately, about barbie, lads that went to school with them, people who worked in the facility where they were held, politicians etc.

The Irish tras have started their campaign of slander, threats BS against TCDFFT and anyone they think is involved. They thought they'd figured out who was behind TCDFFT and doxxed an innocent women earlier today.

For all their huffing and puffing their tech skills are as bad as their investigative skills.

Hiya dirty bird, hiya aoife. Yiz'll need to get up earlier in the morning to catch The Countess out mwahhhhhhhhh

GrainneMhaol · 05/10/2020 22:32

Terf hunters in Ireland are watching this chat so be careful re putting personal info on it.

Amalfimamma · 05/10/2020 22:34

grainne
Seeing as they doxxed an innocent woman earlier I doubt they are the smartest tacks in the box.

But I do find it hilarious a Canadian man is claiming to speak for Irish feminists.......

GrainneMhaol · 05/10/2020 22:36

This is true Grin

purplepizzabunny · 05/10/2020 22:43

I find depressing so called feminists are letting him.

irishfeminist · 05/10/2020 22:44

Yes waves at our stalker you can stick all the fadas you like on your name - you're not Irish, you don't speak for us and it's hilariously ironic for you to be attacking the evil overseas influences when you yourself aren't here a wet week!

purplepizzabunny · 05/10/2020 22:45

Coilini.Wink

Amalfimamma · 05/10/2020 22:46

If they are letting him, they aren't feminists are they?

Let them post away, Irish women are waking up another days of appropriating that which is not theirs are numbered.

That's why they are rattled.......

JKRowlingforever · 05/10/2020 22:51

The stupid fadas and the lack of séimhiú really annoys me with these fools. The utter cheek of well named Dirty City Bird to declare who's Irish and who isn't

purplepizzabunny · 05/10/2020 22:52

True.

JKRowlingforever · 05/10/2020 22:56

Dirty City Bird , the Canadian Male who tells Irish women how to be feminists and how to be Irish

Littlebearcat · 05/10/2020 23:06

I’m here too Smile

BuzzOffTranadian · 05/10/2020 23:12

He's got some bloody neck. The hypocrisy of him lecturing Irish women on what being Irish is. Back in your box sunshine. What's worse are those snivelling aunt Lydias kissing his backside for a pat on the head. Learn some self respect women. Big wave to the snoopers ..amadans!!

Amalfimamma · 05/10/2020 23:56

Oh dear. Fumbling attempts and reasonings as to why it wasn't a doxxing (ignoring he doxxed an innocent woman who has sfa to do with anything) and a lockdown .

Run rabbit, run rabbit, run run run..........

Glitterfish · 06/10/2020 00:22

Anseo freisin. I'll openly talk about GC issues to whoever will listen but so many want to shut the debate down to 'be kind'

Amalfimamma · 06/10/2020 00:29

Being kind got us into this mess.

JaneJeffer · 06/10/2020 00:56

a day footing turf would put smacht on you Grin culchies FTW

I'll come back and read the thread tomorrow when I'm less tired.

Deadringer · 06/10/2020 09:32

I heard on the radio this morning that former master of the national maternity hospital Peter Boylan is criticising the HSE for removing the word woman from their cervical screening information. Hopefully this will help bring this into the public eye.

I'm Northern Irish but follow the Irish GC on Twitter. I'm worried that your self-ID laws will be easy to sneak over the border with Sinn Fein working on both sides.
A lot of people rightly see the DUP as religious loons, so if they object to it people may vote it in thinking its the good left wing thing to do.

Steelasprey · 08/10/2020 15:52

Anseo, freisin
Irish, not so secretly GC - I’ve been kicked out of Repeal groups for questioning the dogma - it’s been a lonely place in Ireland for GC women but there does seem to be glimmer (glinnner Wink) of hope with these new Twitter accounts and other groups.
I’m in the position of still getting called a ‘murderer’ by my neighbour and other local catholic fascists and a ‘bigot’ by the ‘progressives’ - both would burn me

barfotoliv · 08/10/2020 16:19

Mise fosta. Also in the North, on the border. Openly GC to my close friends but they are of the view I'm on the wrong side of history with this, so we just don't talk about it anymore. I've been very close to mentioning Barbie Kardashian over the last number of weeks, but in the end, didn't bother as our debates never go anywhere. Following all the new Irish twitter accounts and delighted by them, although I still don't post anything myself. I'm a teacher and I'm not openly GC at work. Although we have had recently trans-identifed students come out lately, and I've been listening to the staff room chat with interest.
