How stupid do you need to be to sign a petition in support of a person, simply in order to leave a nasty comment? Do they not understand how counting works?

tilder, don't be ashamed. I signed for myself and also on behalf of the many women I know who are unable to. We all do our part, whether it's tiny or huge. I'm in a position where I am able to do so without worrying about my job. I know others aren't.

Well, my day job. My writing job may be fucked, but frankly, I don't care any more. It's worth nothing if I can't write what I want to write for fear of falling foul of the mob.
