Just that. I am looking at Twitter and here and just so bloody happy!

It's been a shit year, lockdown has just restarted, lots of scary things still in the world, but for a brief moment, let's sit back and enjoy what amazing (extra)ordinary women have achieved. Wine Cake Glitterball

So many incredible women, and the odd men to thank for being here. I propose the first toast, to the inimitable JK Rowling, Wine without whose sunlight on the attacks on women's rights, I very much doubt that the recent turnaround in events would have happened.

Cheers everyone, its been a hell of a week. Everyone who has protested, written letters/blogs/ thank you cards, donated, boycotted, voted with your wallet, voted with your feet, gone public with your beliefs, spoken up at work, shared articles on Facebook, argued with trolls and twats on social media, challenged friends and family, and so much more... we all did this together. Cheers to the high profile women (and men) who have worked so hard and risked their livelihoods, reputations, and physical safety. Cheers to the whistle blowers and the women taking these cases to court. Cheers to the mums of ROGD children, and the transwidows, who are still fighting to keep their children and themselves safe and sane. You're all bloody brilliant. And finally, to paraphrase from Filia, cheers to the rebirth of a woman's movement that is organised, energised, focused, and furious.

Antibles · 25/09/2020 21:30

Cheers all! Wine Glitterball

I'm on the night time tea now but raising a mug to the amazing JKR, to all of you on the FWR board who opened my eyes to this and continue to post such witty, wise and wonderful comments and to the amazing women and men IRL who fight this good fight. Here's to you

gardenbird48 · 25/09/2020 22:02

Wine Wine Wine — lots of love to every amazing person that is part of this journey -and Star Star Star to the fallen. We are making progress and for that I’m so thankful.

As my lovely grandma always said ‘ - count your blessings.’

gardenbird48 · 25/09/2020 22:03

I’m starting to feel a bit like a feminist.

Cheers to everyone who has contributed to this in any way. A wonderful grass roots organisation. Thus weeks successes have given me renewed enthusiasm. I'll keep up the talking to people in real life but also resolving to write to more companies, especially where I've decided to stop using them.

TheChampagneGalop · 25/09/2020 22:52

Cheers FWR Wine

Gurufloof · 25/09/2020 22:53

It's free hug Frida.... oh maybe not just now.
Sorry been on the wine a while, still happy days. Our work is coming to fruition at last. Such a long haul, so worth it.

teawamutu · 25/09/2020 23:00

Raising my gin to:
No self-ID
DfE guidance
Crispin Blunt making a massive twat of himself
Labour getting ratioed to wotsit by enraged women
Morgane Oger losing in Canada
JKR billboard in San Francisco
JKR topping the bestseller list (and having a new Strike to read)
Puberty blockers enquiry
Mermaids reverse ferreting
Posie, Venice and co bringing the sunshine in Leeds

Cheers, vipers. Been one HELL of a week.

houseofstark · 25/09/2020 23:00

I’m usually a lurker but this week has been amazing. Well done to everyone involved 🍷

TheHeartbeat · 25/09/2020 23:04

This week was monumental. Truly! Wine

Redshoeblueshoe · 25/09/2020 23:12

We need to send at least 5 gallons of Gin to MNHQ Grin

SVHJess · 25/09/2020 23:19

MNHQ did nothing though.

ArabellaScott · 25/09/2020 23:22

Wine Gin Cake Flowers to the women of Mumsnet, all of you, every last one of you. You're all amazing, and I am so in awe of the tenacity, bravery, compassion, intelligence and clear sightedness that women have shown in the past years. I've learned more on here in the past couple of years than I have in a lifetime of reading left wing newspapers. It's astonishing to find the breadth of thought and insight, experience and humour that hangs out at Mumsnet, it really is. Humbled.

I'm not even pissed. Grin

teawamutu · 25/09/2020 23:22

Not fair to say MNHQ did nothing. As said on the other thread, they had a bloody difficult job to do, they could have said fuck it and shut FWR down for a quieter, more lucrative life, but they didn't.

If they had, if we hadn't had this corner of the internet to mobilise, self-ID would have gone through.

They may not have got everything right, but what they did do was huge. And would have come at a cost.

I'm grateful beyond words.
