Bingo 2.... irresponsible pitting women's rights against trans rights

I heard the same trailer, and I've been listening to AQ for fifty years - they were not announcing topics, they are ASKING for YOUR questions - get in there! The topic will only come up if someone actually submits a good question which gets selected!

Thanks for the heads up. Will think on a suitable question. But I am very, very annoyed that the BBC is only deciding to have these debates now, after the government has made its decision on self ID.

Agreed that Lisa will fall back on all her anecdotes about her constituent - because one example is always what MPs use to make laws.
I suspect we'll all be disappointed as TWAW will be repeatedly trotted out alongside 'be kind' - but maybe someone will challenge her on her desire to place paedophiles and rapists in women's prisons?

I would be delighted if they chose to put forward a question on this. But extremely surprised. I've listened to the program many times, but I don't think I've ever heard a question on it, even when trans issues are high in the news agenda.

A good question would be about the percentages of ordinary people who do not support self i-d.

Lisa will probably say we need educating and might come out with some incorrect stats as she has definitely been Stonewalled.

I think asking what a woman is, is too narrow a question and might baffle some of the audience

Though a long-time listener to 'Any Questions?' I've often given it a miss in recent times - so many politicians are unbearable or boring - but I will definitely listen to this one, despite the presence of Lisa Nandy.

Who wants to bet that they'll weed out all the gender critical ones?

Would anyone be up for asking whether the GRA had been a big mistake as it isn't actually possible to change sex (and the issue of same sex marriage is no longer an issue) so surely it is more about building a society where people aren't forced into gender boxes, something DoE now recognises.

And the issue is how well orchestrated caucuses can capture MPs to the point that they start talking as thought Mermaids are real.

Now that same sex marriage is legal, why is the government issuing Gender Recognition Certificates to male bodied people giving them the legal status as a woman? Clearly this is problematic for women. Sex is a protected characteristic-there is no other protected characteristic a person can ‘identify into.’

Not holding my breath though....

Helen Whately could have become my MP some years back but failed to get elected against the sitting Lib Dem, now the Dear Leader of his party. She was a doctor at the time and one of Cameron's modernising list to get more elected women in his party. She then got a seat in Kent, in, I think, the 2015 election.

With her medical background she has a ministerial post in the health and social care department, which hasn't done well lately with the pandemic crisis and she has taken some heavy flak in interviews.
