Is there a link?

Beamur · 16/09/2020 12:35

She's a frequent commenter on the Times online articles. Very smart and articulate.

HumphreyCobblers · 16/09/2020 12:37

Oh I agree and thought about starting this thread the other day.

Jo March - you are excellent. Thank you

LizzieSiddal · 16/09/2020 12:39

Thanks I’ll have a look.

WinterIsGone · 16/09/2020 12:51

I'm so glad you started a thread. I've mentioned her before a few weeks ago, then someone else did at the end of July. I so appreciate all the time she takes to write such thoughtful replies. Hope she reads this and know she's appreciated!

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 16/09/2020 13:00

Yep, she's great. If she's not on here somewhere I'll eat my hoodie (don't have a hat)! Hello Jo WinkGrin

I'm always pleased if she likes one of my (much more occasional) comments too Blush

There are lots of other great commentators too, and I'm sure some of the others must be on here as well - the likes of flapjack, Briz, Silver Lady, too many to name them all! Not to mention others doing sterling work on other newspaper and media sites.

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 16/09/2020 13:06

Yes, I love Jo too. Hi Jo if you are on here and anyone else who posts to educate the wider readership.

StandWithYou · 16/09/2020 13:14

I love JM too 💕

She is fab - especially when she calmly dissects someone’s argument. I also feel pleased if she likes one of my comments.

Whatwouldscullydo · 16/09/2020 13:16

Shes great. Always talks sense.

Always factual.

Always civil

She is amazing

AtrociousCircumstance · 16/09/2020 13:17

Can someone c&p some of her comments here please? Not aware of her but she sounds great Smile

midclegs · 16/09/2020 13:39

You can read some of her comments in the latest article about the other Jo Smile

Shout out to silver lady (I think that's her username, some thing like that, anyway), who also comments a lot on Times articles about trans issues, and is also great. Bet she's a MNetter too

And to Times BTL commentators generally, who are about 95% GC.

happydappy2 · 16/09/2020 15:58

I really enjoy reading comments by 'Disgusted of Manchester' completely incoherent, often mildly abusive and easily refuted. Also it is refreshing to articulate things in a way which would be deleted here....

ThePankhurstConnection · 16/09/2020 16:01

I was just about to say Jo March and Silver Lady both of them are excellent.
MsWonderful · 16/09/2020 16:09

Yy Jo March is great. She must be on here too I would think Smile

MichelleofzeResistance · 16/09/2020 16:13

Love her comments, always well explained and straight to the point.

ThePankhurstConnection · 16/09/2020 16:22

And Jacky Holyoake she's another great poster in the comments on those articles

FWRLurker · 16/09/2020 16:27

By the title alone, I was worried for a second that some fool had “transed” her or Laurie.

I enjoy the Times Jo March very much. Thanks Jo!!

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 16/09/2020 16:51

Oh yes Jacky too!

CatsFantastic · 16/09/2020 17:00

I always love Jo March’s comments - i even look out for them!

And I would also put money on her being a mumsnetter!

And I have also considered the possibility that Jo March is a writer called Jo in real life.

ErrolTheDragon · 16/09/2020 17:11

By the title alone, I was worried for a second that some fool had “transed” her or Laurie.

There are certainly some fools trying to do that, or 'queer' her (whatever that may mean).

CaraDuneRedux · 16/09/2020 17:35

I thought that for a moment too, Errol.

But yes, Jo March and Silverlady and JackyHolyoake are good value. (And on here - I'm sure I've seen the occasional turn of phrase I recognise - not enough to pin them down to being a specific poster, but certainly enough for me to have thought "aha, mumsnetter.")

Disgusted of Manchester is a complete pillock, isn't he?

WinnieSandersonsCat · 16/09/2020 17:37

I genuinely thought this would be a book club style post about Little Women... was all ready for a discussion about the book and recent film Haha!

Muttonindistress · 16/09/2020 17:50

And I have also considered the possibility that Jo March is a writer called Jo in real life

Ooh, me too! I thought the user name could be a clue, as Jo March is an author too. But maybe just me getting a bit carried away. Whoever she is, she is very knowledgeable, expresses herself brilliantly and is doing a great job of actually educating people. So 💐from me as well and 🖕to Disgusted of Manchester.

WinterIsGone · 16/09/2020 18:01

I am amazed that today's article in The Times has more than 750 comments, most of which are well-informed (and gender critical). The top comment alone (suggesting JKR receives an honour) received over 300 likes. Not so long ago, the subject would have been regarded as niche, and ignored by most people. What a turnaround! I feel a major part of this has been thanks to all of those Times readers who have bothered to comment, link and like on every story.

Love the idea that Jo Marsh is another famous writer... And as for Disgusted of Manchester... Grin
