Exactly my thought. How likely is it that someone goes from zero to drugging a 14 year old runaway?

This just isn't possible. Willam belongs to THE most oppressed group of people, in the history of the world, ever. The end.

The group that's never experienced masculine privilege, or doesn't have on average a more aggressive hormonal make-up/higher testosterone levels and XY chromosomes together with a bigger skeleton, larger hands and feet, denser muscle mass, greater height, and far more significant physical strength than your average female. And many (men, that is) are not backwards in coming forwards when it comes to using that strength against women and even children.

But misgender them and that's 'literal violence'. And yes, of course, the old protestation 'that never happens!' How could I have been so lax!

It might be that gaslighting led the victim to incorrectly believe that Willian possessed a risk profile of a female, not a male.

Its not their gender identity that puts them at risk. Everyone knows predatory paedophiles are fair game in prison.

Perhaps Willan could identify as a cat burglar in prison, instead of someone who drugs girls for undisclosed purposes, so the other prisoners won't be tempted to unwelcoming behaviour? That should be effective.

Yes. I used to tell my son to approach the staff/reception or a woman with children if he got separated from me.

It would be absolutely disgraceful if this perpetrator was not punished appropriately for their actions. The victim would be the one deprived of justice.

so that legal precedent means that in the UK, so an offender now claim to be a woman in order to avoid jail and in this case, this repeat offender now has their bona fide 'get out of jail card' - the absence of a GRC. Thus making a mockery of the people who have gone to the trouble of obtaining a GRC - in the same situation, they would have been sent to prison (albeit likely a woman's prison).
That judge really didn't think that through did he?

The case won't have set a legal precedent gardenbird as it was only crown court. I imagine if these defences start happening (and are successful) on a regular basis then something will have to be done about it as offenders will start identifying as women to avoid jail time.

I don't think so because trans men are housed in the female estate because they are female and would be at considerable risk in the male estate. It's interesting that you don't hear reports of trans men applying to be transferred to the male estate isn't it?

Trans women are also at increased risk in the male estate but in most cases placing them in the female estate would not be safe for the women already housed there. It doesn't seem like an insurmountable problem but I guess it's another case of anyone trying to deal with it gets call transphobic and so it'll just rumble on until something really serious happens and they have to do something about it..

What a pity this female child wasn't spared an overdose (other drugs in her system, but maybe they could only pin the Valium on Willan) due to her multiple vulnerabilities (young/ female/ runaway).

You just don’t give random stranger teens Valium. I’m not sure what the motive was in giving them that or anything that happened between the two.

But they are a bit long in the tooth to be taking such a silly and dangerous action. The law should stand - without fear nor favour.

I always told my DC when young to approach someone behind a counter or a lady with a child in a pushchair/pram if they were lost.

I always told DS to find a policeman or security guard (or someone in uniform), or ‘a lady with children’.
