GC film released next month. To quote the last comment at the end:

"You're going to get in a lot of trouble for this"

No. Shit.

Trailer here:

@Skyliner001

Trailer Reminded me of a Qanon film…
So clearly you did not watch it, Skyliner. Fine. Can I get anyone commenting that did?
JellyFishSquish · 11/10/2020 19:05

It is 2 1/2 hours long, but covers a lot. I watched it in bits. Liked their description of "bigoteering" to shut down debate.

Don't know why it does not show the number of likes.

Says only 7,000 ish views as well, while earlier in the thread someone said over 10,000 views? But that could be because it came down and went back up again, and was in segments and now is all in one?

Skyliner001 · 11/10/2020 19:07

Well no, I did love. Hence I commented. Best.

WooblyBoobly · 11/10/2020 19:15

If someone compares it to a Qanon film, that is only because the world has gone so batshit crazy at the moment that normal people would struggle to follow the batshit crazy.

Not the fault of the film so much as society now. Cult. PoMo. Cancel culture. Compelled speech. Doxxing. Authoritarianism. Uterus havers. Cervix havers. Womxn. How many fingers am I holding up, Winston? I could go on.

chunkyrun · 11/10/2020 19:17

Ooh can't wait to start watching it

InflamatoryWrit · 11/10/2020 19:18

Is "Best" like "go well"?

You commented on the trailer. Go well.

Skyliner001 · 11/10/2020 19:23

It just means I'm not stooping to your level. All the best.

NRatched · 11/10/2020 20:56

Going to try this now, looks alright from the trailer but having so much TRA behaviour in one place, is likely to make me rage a little. And possibly get a bit upset too. Its such a shitty situation..

Do it in bits. Better for one's mental health.
vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 11/10/2020 21:09

Oh man. This is not good for one's blood pressure.

I've watched up to the one about the kids. Need a break for a bit.

I try very hard to apply the "am I the bad guy" test - so I followed a bunch of people the film mentioned as trans positive. Have to say, they are a LOT less articulate than this documentary.

How can this be happening? My daughter's trans friends are about to have a horrible time, I reckon. It's a house of cards and they are in the balance.

The idea of a genderist comparing anything to a QAnon film is hilarious.

Re the film- definitely worth a watch for a comprehensive overview of the past few years and how we got here.

Winesalot · 11/10/2020 21:20

The video does provide a good all round update.

It feels a lot has happened since they were uploaded one month ago.

FindTheTruth · 11/10/2020 22:12

halfway through it. v. good summary of everything!

... narrator sounds like one of the triggonometry guys?

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 11/10/2020 22:15

Oh, that last one - all those brave women speaking up (and a few men, thanks, chaps) and then, the last word...

NRatched · 11/10/2020 23:31

Good god, had never seen that Lisa Nandy/Piers Morgan sports 'discussion' anymore..that was shockingly bad from her. All just 'be kind, we need more light' whilst advocating for 'different rules' that basically allow males to compete with females because 'nice' Hmm When pulled up, it becomes 'you are attacking vulnerable people!!!!!'. Totally out of the TRA playbook that one tbh.

NRatched · 11/10/2020 23:31

before, not anymore Hmm Half asleep now, was going to watch in bits and sleep, but nope, watching it all it seems

NRatched · 11/10/2020 23:48

Well. That was great. Of course, certain people will hate it as it lays it all out. Maybe if TRAs think its too selective, they can make one of their view, with all the horrible abuse and such they recieve on a daily basis from women? Or might that show up that the abuse is actually from men, then blamed on women..hmm.

The ending made me fill up a bit tho Blush Not generally an emotional person at all.

CandyLeBonBon · 11/10/2020 23:58

It was very very good.

Winesalot · 12/10/2020 03:34

Of course, many people will not like it and some will seek to discredit it as ‘conspiracy theory’. Maybe because it pulls it all together and shows the behaviour, the dishonesty, and the disjointed arguments of those who seek to demolish the boundaries securing women’s rights one item, one event, after another. There is no hiding from it. None of the real life footage has been falsified, it is pull from public sources. Seeing it all together is certainly impactful. The only thing left is to discredit it as conspiracy theories, I guess.

It almost needs a monthly update.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 12/10/2020 08:42

Did anyone else have to progress through at least three warnings about offensive content before getting to the actual film?

DaisiesandButtercups · 12/10/2020 08:57

I thought it was really good, informative and to the point for the most part.

I wasn’t 100% convinced that the references to the war were well advised although I suppose it did help with making the point about the factions involved and they did put caveats in about not wanting to liken the situation to an actual war...

I suppose the point to take from that is that there are many distinct groups some with overlapping interests and some who have been deceived and captured. The gender extremist agenda is not coming from only one source.

The film is definitely worth a watch and like others say, needs several sittings but does lend itself to that.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 12/10/2020 09:30

The war was confusing... I want to go back and watch it for its own sake but I don't think it added anything.

I'm curious that they are exploring alt-right but not antifa and the alt-left who (although arguably US-Based), I think, are pulling a lot of strings in this via social media and som eon-the-ground groups.

Winesalot · 12/10/2020 09:40

The war comparison did not explain much to me either, but the definition and redefinition of alliances was. Maybe the war comparison was useful if you didn’t have much background already?

YetAnotherSpartacus · 12/10/2020 09:44

I think they could have used a more simple example to say the same thing - and one that is maybe less contentious and a bit less complicated.

I'm also not sure about the Maoism bit.

I think they might also need to be clearer that they are making analogies and not suggesting links. They do this, but not terribly clearly.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 12/10/2020 10:59

So, who are State Media?

I assume they have a background in politics and that is why they included the war stuff. Agree, it's a bit of a distraction. These issues don't exactly need beefing up.

Would love to see them do an episode on the fetishisation of pregnancy and periods. Especially if they pointed out that there does not seem to be a fetishisation of other female dominated health concerns like breast cancer, menopause or hip fractures...
