GC film released next month. To quote the last comment at the end:

"You're going to get in a lot of trouble for this"

No. Shit.

Well I'd watch them whilst you can cos I doubt they will be there long.

Datun · 11/09/2020 22:03

It was two and a half hours of copyrighted material they didn't own the rights to, of course it got taken down. It will get taken down wherever else it gets posted as well, SKY and the Beeb protect their copyright ferociously.

Source?

They have said that every bit of film they put on there is available elsewhere on YouTube.

I've seen almost all of it before. As has everyone else. All the clips, sky News, the tweets. It's all in the public domain.

jj1968 · 11/09/2020 22:13

Unless SKY/BBC/RT etc have explicitly forfeiting all rights to that footage (which can be done via creative commons) then it is not public domain. It doesn't matter that it has previously appeared on youtube, all that means it is was either posted by the copyright holders or someone else has also violated copyright. Any experienced film producer should know that.

Haha! You're seriously saying sky News has contacted YouTube to say they violated the copyright for that video?

YouTube themselves have said it's because of age restrictions.

And they've left it up as chapters.

Quite possibly, and if they haven't they will. They employ people to search for copyright violations. Or a complaint could come from someone whose personal video footage is included. Youtube may even opt to take it down themselves to pre-empt any DMCAs.

I'm sure they've had a zillion complaints. It's almost the point.

The censorship is what garners the attention. As I said, it's self defeating.

littlbrowndog · 11/09/2020 22:50

Watched it apart from last chapter. It is long

I really liked when Emily mantles was interviewing the lady from Tavistock. Omg how she wriggled as she was skewered and had no answers as to why they had no peer reviewed research papers

PhoebeSnow · 11/09/2020 23:10

Well that’s gone! Anyone know where it will pop up again?

morningtoncrescent62 · 11/09/2020 23:32

I had to sign in (I don't usually sign in on Youtube) and verify my age, after which it was all there, in 15 parts. I recommend the final part, the Coda, @littlbrowndog. There's a moving photomontage of people speaking out, and a final word from Magdalen Berns which made me cry.

Datun · 11/09/2020 23:39

It's not gone. They split it into parts.

I wonder if it was deliberate. You'd have to make quite a few, individual, specific complaints this way.

PhoebeSnow · 11/09/2020 23:47

Thank you Datun will have another look tomorrow

FireUnderTheHand · 12/09/2020 02:19

Yeah the Lebanon stuff was a bit silly, really, and risks boring people completely for the sake of a joke.

Agreed, I unintentionally found myself tuning out during the intro as it felt like a rushed oral report in an undergrad class. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't notable either. Attempting to tie it to the film narrative felt misplaced and out of left field anytime it was mentioned.

With a good editor (one that could break out the tracks, drop the source footage music from the project, and drop new music in to go with the tone and flow) the film could have great impact. Music creates mood/tone or complements it or destroys it... in this case I actively tried to tune most of the music out as I found it to somewhat obscure the seriousness of certain points.

This film needed to be made, and while it isn't perfectly polished or up to certain standards the importance of the prevailing message is not diminished.

I hope to see more from The State based on what I have seen on their site.

Datun · 12/09/2020 11:40

It would appear that after putting up some warnings about content, YouTube have decided to reinstate the full documentary.

Despite the many attempts to have it censored.

OneEpisode · 12/09/2020 11:44

I liked the format.
It’s mostly clips of women (a few men) with captions and a male continuity announcer.
The Beirut thing was a very different perspective and I thought put the “terf wars” into perspective for ordinary you tube users. In the UK “Trans rights are human rights”, and society and logic are being remade, meanwhile women and girls in the real world including real war zones are given no regard...

Whatisthisfuckery · 12/09/2020 13:29

I’ve just watched the whole thing from start to finish on youtube. There’s a content warning but you can now watch it in it’s entirety without having to click on all the different chapters.

FifteenToes · 12/09/2020 21:20

12.20 - Nicole Gibson: "There are two genders: male and female. Sometimes you're not lucky enough to be born into the right one so you transition into the one that you feel most."

Piers Morgan: "Which seems to me eminently sensible, and I jave complete respect for people that do that. It's not an easy process, physically, psychologically, emotionally or any of those things. I salute you, for your common sense."

Is this what they meant in the preamble by "Piers Morgan making sense". Cos it sure as fuck doesn't make sense to me.

BlueboxRedbox · 12/09/2020 22:29

FifteenToes There are several other interviews with Piers Morgan later on, I think the and argument are the main instances the preamble is referring to.

Bbub · 12/09/2020 23:39

I've just watched the full thing and really recommend it. Even at 2.5hrs long I am wanting more detail! It's an absolutely fascinating topic and really scary for lots of reasons. We should all be making ourselves aware

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 13/09/2020 22:48

I thought it was excellent.

Lisz · 14/09/2020 13:06

Some people need to be aware what the Streisand effect really is. Linehan was pretty fond of referencing it too, clearly he didn’t understand it either.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 14/09/2020 14:49

What do you feel they are missing, Lisz?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 14/09/2020 14:50

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streisand_effect

InflamatoryWrit · 11/10/2020 18:05

Why are there no number of likes or dislikes showing on the vid?

Skyliner001 · 11/10/2020 18:17

Oh yeah... Looks balanced. 😂😂🙄🙄

Skyliner001 · 11/10/2020 18:20

Trailer Reminded me of a Qanon film…
