Vulva owner? Well, I suppose they are quite reliable cars, if a bit on the clunky side.

I almost certainly don't want to know the answer to this question, but while I know that transwomen can get neo-vaginas made out of penis tissue, are neo-vulvas even a thing?

My understanding is that scrotal skin is often used to reconstruct A facsimile outer labia, and part of the penis is sometimes used to create a clitoris.

Inner labia isn’t usually constructed from the diagrams/images I’ve seen. Probably something to do with men thinking it’s “gross” / not wanting to see that (see Australia’s “decency” laws)

Or was the writer being - shock horror - transphobic? Was she deliberately excluding transwomen by referring to vulvas rather than vaginas?? Confused

'Zero-depth' vulvaplasty is a thing, for people who don't want/can't have the full works.

That was done on the first page.
AsTreesWalking · 26/08/2020 14:10

I may be wrong, but I detected a certain smug undertone of "look at me saying 'vulva' - not like the ignoramuses who always use 'vagina'. I'm a professional, me."

ItsLateHumpty · 26/08/2020 14:29

That was done on the first page.

And?! I guess I’m missing your point, can you elucidate?

I thought it was because of the potential wrongthink in implying a neo vagina and vagina are different.

See this: www.reddit.com/r/changemyview/comments/8v1vut/cmv_it_matters_to_distinguish_a_neovagina_from_a/?utm_source=amp&utm_medium=&utm_content=post_title

However....surely SRS also reconstructs a neo vulva. Gosh. It's a minefield.

Alabamawhirly1 · 26/08/2020 14:57

And, if the relationship involves a vulva owner, there is little understanding of the arousal systems of the vulva owner and very little knowledge of how that person experiences pleasure during sex. That can lead to the vulva owner becoming disinterested in sex that is not pleasurable or uncomfortable.

Completly unnecessary. If she wanted to cover the inclusivity base, she could have just caviated the sentence with "in the context of a heterosexual relationship". Then freely used man and woman.

Also owning a vulva1 sounds like somthing a serial killer would do, I've got visions of Jack the ripper with jars full of reproductive organs. Or possibly somthing from one of those 50 shades bdsm contracts. Mr Grey shall own your vulva. It definitely doesn't spell out woman to me.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 26/08/2020 15:04

I feel totally and utterly dehumanised by this.

We cannot say what we want to say about the definition of women, but others can call us 'vulva owners' and this is OK?

Something is wrong with the world.

Whilst non females are perfectly entitled to define themselves as women.

That reddit thread. The woman had a thought process change. Instead of Harry Enfield “women, know your limits”, it is: “Vulva haver, check your thinking”...

yourhairiswinterfire · 26/08/2020 18:16

The comment that got me "That said, it is a real vagina, even though it was made through artificial means."

Artificial but real. Confused Maybe they mean real in the sense that it physically exists on their body, but it's no more a real vagina than an artificial leg is a real leg, or breast implants are real, natural breast tissue.

What I have is a complex organ with multiple functions.

That's what really irks me about the 'functions exactly the same' comments. How so? Just because it can be penetrated? Cause that's the only purpose of a vagina, right? 🙄

QuentinWinters · 26/08/2020 18:21

This one made me Shock
2) They can look and feel the same, so intercourse is the same. (Even if reproduction is a goal, that's a uterus/ovary problem, not a vaginal issue.)
Intercourse is the same for the person doing the penetrating. But given no muscle, I'm not sure it can be the same for the vagina haver

twoHopes · 26/08/2020 18:31

Trying so hard to be woke whilst simultaneously forgetting about the existence of lesbians.

FireUnderTheHand · 26/08/2020 18:31

Why does everyone use the word 'reconstruct' when speaking about neo-vag and neo-vulvas? These are not 'reconstructs' they are constructs as those parts did not exist on those bodies prior to manipulation of either penile/testes tissue and/or gastro tissue for construction.

I think this thread will go soon.

Anyway.

Yes the narrative around organs is v make centric in line with everything else.

EG front hole is a good word for vagina for trans men. Erm. Urethra? Is more front. Hole? Word used by men talking about fucking.

The vagina is only a hole at the front if your question is, what can you stick a cock in.

With so many things. The complexity of our bodies is done away with, and that we are people. Surrogacy and the language surrounding that is a good example.

Deliriumoftheendless · 26/08/2020 19:00

Well my hair is real blonde even though it’s done by artificial means.

I seriously doubt it could be the same for the penis owner either.

A vagina is a complex web of muscles ending at a cervix which guards a uterus with greater vestibular glands for lubrication... for those of us with vaginal muscle control there would be no comparison (for the person penetrating unless it wasn't a live member i.e. a strap-on or vibrator).

I mean I guess if you had zero control it might kind of sort of maybe be similar for the penetrator but I still doubt even that considering the positioning of the neo-vag versus natural vag paired with neo-vag=no contracting muscle so no possible muscle control and nat-vag=contracting muscle and possible muscle control.

At least those are my thoughts but I don't own a penis so what do I know about being the penetrator (not much TBF)?

Lol! Mummy that is such a disturbingly funny image!

Thanks for the laugh Grin

QuentinWinters · 26/08/2020 19:55

It is hard because if I had breast enhancement I would be offended if someone refused to call them my breasts.

However I also would recognise the enhancements didnt have the same function or feel as breast tissue

NiceGerbil · 26/08/2020 20:34

That's why it's called breast enhancements though.

You already have breasts. They have been surgically altered to make them bigger.

If you had, I dunno. Feelers like an insect put on your head. Then they aren't feelers at all.

Sorry for shit analogy!
