Audi drops not to subtle paedophile car advert!

There is no way this was just badly thought through.... Hmm

I think this comment sums it up

“Let's add it up: Red=eroticism, sports car=substitute for potency, animal print mini-skirt=sex appeal, banana=phallic symbol. But sure this is all just accidental...”

Do you think this was someone testing the waters so to speak about how society might respond to something like this? I’ve read quite a few things on here about how the MRA has as its core aim to normalise paedophilia as just another sexual preference (eg minor attracted person) and this was what immediately jumped to my mind with this ad.

What do you think??

The fact that I’ve stuck around even though most posters are directly aiming their posts at me and have said very rude things to me is testament that this is a topic I take very seriously.
I could have came on here saying these are my views and everyone with a different view can fuck off and then leave the thread but I haven’t.
The term you are looking for is "sea lion".

Sunrise234 · 08/08/2020 21:23

What does sea lion mean?

If anyone has been directly rude to you on here, report it and it will be removed.
Am sure you can Google sea lioning

Ok thank you for that. I’m not offended easily though so I won’t need to.

It is easier if the person accused me of it explains what it means as they must know. Or someone else who definitely knows. As it’s a slag word I could google it and end up with the wrong definition or more likely have a million pages to do with the marine mammal.

I think if you think that is sexualised it says a lot about you as a person...

"However, Mark Kreuzer, an engineer and blogger, tweeted: "Hmm, well for me the message is: Audi RS4 = family car. Just as your own daughter makes your heart beat faster, so does the RS4. And both are of course cool."

If I heard a father say IRL that his daughter made his heart beat faster, I'd be Hmm

Datun · 08/08/2020 22:34

A picture of a girl and a car is not described as 'every aspect'.

That explanation doesn't make the slightest bit of sense.

Sunrise234 · 08/08/2020 22:35

Knoxinbox

Thank you very much.

I wouldn’t call myself a sea lion as I’ve not asked for any evidence from anyone and more people have asked me questions than I’ve asked them. But I wouldn’t call them seal lions either as surely that’s the point of a discussion thread. I would say I am civil and sincere though because this is a thread for adults to have a civil discussion and if I felt someone was unreasonably uncivil to me then I probably wouldn’t acknowledge them and vice versa. I don’t think there’s any reason to be rude to people just because you have different views as that isn’t going to do any good.

TehBewilderness · 08/08/2020 23:07

I despair for the educational system.

Sunrise234 · 08/08/2020 23:21

I despair for the educational system.

Why because I didn’t know what the slang word for sea lion meant?!

Ask me about actual sea lions and I’ll be happy to tell you everything I know.
There are many slang words you probably don’t know as they change all the time. Don’t act like we’re in the school playground - like omg do you not even know what this word means duhhh.

I swear some posters only post when it’s the school holidays I wonder why Hmm

PearPickingPorky · 08/08/2020 23:26

An advert with a nice shiny Audi and a dull grey rock would be effective on this thread, I think.

TehBewilderness · 08/08/2020 23:44

Not at all. Because I took you at your word that you are a teacher.

nauticant · 08/08/2020 23:57

It is a subtle and very effective derail. What the motivation might be behind it I can only guess at.

Just when we thought we were making headway, someone reads the first posts and undos all the hard work we have done.

We are not paedos. We do not think this is paedo bait.

We do however see it as a stepping stone towards them.

StillNotAGirl · 09/08/2020 08:55

And as Audi is a massive company then surely loads of people would have had to check the advert?

As someone who has worked as a 'troubleshooter' in several companies of similar size to Audi I can state categorically that large companies do not have 'loads of people' checking things like this. Whilst some do try and have various controls in place it is shockingly easy for a forceful individual to push something through. Despite the number of employees the scale of operations mean many employees can be overwhelmed with work and the compartmentalisation of operations means it's can be very hard to challenge things.

The many large corporation scandals and various minor incompetences demonstrate this.

MarshaBradyo · 09/08/2020 09:00

It’s not an advert it’s a post on Twitter. More controls for an advert.

I reckon it’s some reprobate (some unsavoury types in SM who are also juvenile) doing it, but not a team.

EvilPea · 09/08/2020 09:05

There’s no way I’d let my kid into an rs4 eating fruit either.

I don’t get the paedophile thing with this advert, but I was the car mad little girl who would have thought that car and girl were incredibly cool and would want one when I had a family.

Sunrise234 · 09/08/2020 13:44

Not at all. Because I took you at your word that you are a teacher.

If you think you can protect children better than me and my colleagues then feel free to make this your career.
Regardless of whether we think the advert is sexualised or not we can all agree we want to protect children so if you have the skills then seriously consider it.

Sunrise234 · 09/08/2020 13:48

Yes I do agree actually as I remember pepsi got in trouble for their advert and they’re a huge company. And the Audi photo in question was one of many that someone picked out and then put the tag line on SM so there is even more chance that only one or a couple of people had any say in it.

NotDonna · 09/08/2020 19:46

But @Sunrise234 how can things be raised if you’re missing ALL these red flags?
I’m horrified that you’re a teacher, have friends in childcare and none of you can’t see these issues? Really? Despite the training you will have received? It just goes to show how much you and your friends have already been brainwashed to see this as acceptable. That worries me.

The only thing I said was that I don’t believe they would have purposely designed it with peadophiles in mind!! Precisely! So why did they purposely design it? Because dolls don’t get designed accidentally. Neither do car adverts. Lots & lots of processes involved. Neither the doll nor the car advert are accidental. I struggle to understand why you cannot get this.

Sunrise234 · 09/08/2020 20:52

how can things be raised if you’re missing ALL these red flags?

Everything gets flagged up on a computer system. In my school even unbrushed hair or dirty shirt would need to be flagged up. This gets sent straight to the safeguarding team who decides if this is just a one off or other teachers have flagged things up too. So messy hair usually means nothing but pair that with no equipment, upset/angry outburst or quieter than usual, falling asleep etc then things will be looked into further. If the safeguarding team don’t pick up on it and a few things have been flagged up then it goes straight to SS and police.
So it is very unlikely that anything will get overlooked.
As I’ve said my colleagues have years more experience in safeguarding than I do and none of them have seen anything wrong with the advert.

Precisely! So why did they purposely design it?

They designed it to try and reach their target audience which in this case is young families.

I am 74 years old. I won't be starting a new career any time soon.

Or a guy designed it who gets off on toddlers in barely coded sexual poses...
