Like they say get involved. To nominate just click the link.

Of course if anyone else comes to mind choose them too but they are trying it with Rowling.

@CallarMorvern

So much love for Emma Watson on that Twitter feed, which makes me feel a bit sick, I suspect she'll be the choice.
Watched her on Youtube interviewing some of the woke brigade. She's really not very bright and so full of her own importance.
Shedbuilder · 03/08/2020 14:10

Magdalen Berns was born in Camden (Camden Town) and educated in Hampstead (Hampstead).

@senua

I've never heard of WOW so I looked at their website. "The WOW Foundation is a charity that believes a gender equal world is desirable, possible and urgently required." "If you identify as a woman or know a woman, WOW is for you"

Do I really want to give them tacit support by engaging in their game?

Even without contributing to WOW, I think it's a fun and informative exercise. 200+ female Londoners (or associated with London) that have made a difference to society. Maybe the Mumsnet list instead (and contribute to the original project if people want... I'd rather put a few names than run the risk of it being all modern and 'woke' with people being omitted as they are apparently controversial.)

I nominated JK, and also Jenni Murray, for her time as Women's House host.

TwitterTwatterofTinyMinds · 03/08/2020 15:20

House? Hour, Women's Hour.

Which station for JM- one near broadcasting house?
KittiesInsane · 04/08/2020 09:53

Myra Hess for Trafalgar Square (wartime concerts)?

TwitterTwatterofTinyMinds · 05/08/2020 13:23

Errol - I went for Oxford Circus (near to Broadcasting House).

TwitterTwatterofTinyMinds · 05/08/2020 13:24

I also went on a bit of a spree, and nominated Sharron Davies, who has spoken out in support of women's sport for Tavistock Square (it's a stretch - she went to school in Tavistock!)

CatandtheFiddle · 05/08/2020 14:40

Yes, I've nominated J K Rowling for Kings Cross, and Virginia Woolf for Russell Square.

belvoirbeaver · 05/08/2020 14:59

I've nominated JK Rowling for Kings Cross, Rosalind Franklin for St Pancras (You can see the Francis Crick institute on the train into St P and her work with Maurice Wilkins was a massive part of Watson and Crick's work on DNA discovery)

And Betty Boothroyd for Westminster because she was brilliant as speaker.

CatandtheFiddle · 05/08/2020 15:55

OOOO That's a good call for St Pancras! Dr Franklin wuz robbed.

She was... but unfortunately in part because she died young, sadly, and the Nobel prize isn't awarded posthumously. (Though totally agree that Watson and Crick deliberately downplayed her role and tried to edge her out of getting the credit she was due.)
