Like they say get involved. To nominate just click the link.

Of course if anyone else comes to mind choose them too but they are trying it with Rowling.

I have just voted for JK Rowling for Kings Cross.

rabbitwoman · 03/08/2020 08:27

You know, I really wasn't going to bother - but read some of those twitter replies, about jk being hateful and spreading bile - huh!? Wtaf??! So I have filled it in and nominated her - who else for Kings Cross anyway!!??

rabbitwoman · 03/08/2020 08:28

My hope is that Emma Watson feels a bit of a nob about her very public support for mermaids before too long....

goodthinking99 · 03/08/2020 08:54

Done, and will go back for Martina and more.

CallarMorvern · 03/08/2020 09:09

I wanted to be harsher on my pp, but I'm aware it is hard to stick your head above the parapet with this issue, especially if it will have career repercussions. I'm a total hypocrite as I'm not willing to share GC posts on my FB (we have a transwomen in the family which makes it even more difficult). But Emma Watson could at least have sat on the fence a little.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 03/08/2020 10:38

This inspired me to find some inspirational women this morning. I've found out the first 'official' female doctor in the UK was born in Whitechapel (Elizabeth Anderson Garrett). Love her or hate her, Margaret Thatcher is an obvious choice for Westminster. How about replacing Harrow with a famous girls school instead. Then I got stuck...

Shedbuilder · 03/08/2020 11:25

Voted for JKR, also Elizabeth Garrett Anderson (Euston) and Rachel Heyhoe Flint (The Oval or St John's Wood). Will add others as they occur.

DidoLamenting · 03/08/2020 11:41

Agreed re Margaret Thatcher although never voted for her. If were to get it the wokey- cokey explosions of outrage would be a joy to see.

DidoLamenting · 03/08/2020 11:44

Just nominated Margaret Thatcher for Westminster.

Why is Emma Watson making that silly face in the photo accompanying this campaign?

DidoLamenting · 03/08/2020 11:47

Mary Quant for Chelsea.

DidoLamenting · 03/08/2020 11:51

Aargh Quant would have to be South Ken or Sloane Square.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 03/08/2020 11:53

Other ideas...
Nell Gwynn... instrumental in the foundation of the Chelsea Pensioners home
Boudicca.... Statue near Westminster Bridge
Amy Johnson (pilot) trained at London Aeroplane club.
Emmeline Pankhurst-

Will work out best stations for them

DidoLamenting · 03/08/2020 11:58

Margo Fonteyn for Covent Garden.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 03/08/2020 11:59

From what I can work out, the London Aeroplane Club was near Edgware Road (Amy Johnson).

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 03/08/2020 12:02

done

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 03/08/2020 12:04

Boudicca statue is near Westminster, but also pretty close to Embankment.
Florence Nightingale museum is near Lambeth North

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 03/08/2020 12:11

Elizabeth Fry... Newgate for her Prison work, or Hackney for her Women's Refuge.

slug · 03/08/2020 12:19

I also nominated Kara Ingla Smith for St Pauls as it's the nearest stop to the old Bailey where so many men are (not) convicted for their violence against women that she documents.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 03/08/2020 12:22

Where was Magdalen Berns born? Would love to give her a mention but can only see born in London when I google.

Thelnebriati · 03/08/2020 12:46

List of tube stations;
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_London_Underground_stations

I've nominated Maureen Lipman for Mornington Crescent Grin

Magdalen Berns isn't remotely in the category of women who deserve a station allocated to her.

I've never heard of WOW so I looked at their website.
"The WOW Foundation is a charity that believes a gender equal world is desirable, possible and urgently required."
"If you identify as a woman or know a woman, WOW is for you"

Do I really want to give them tacit support by engaging in their game?

ErrolTheDragon · 03/08/2020 13:29

I've nominated Maureen Lipman for Mornington Crescent

Why? Afaik she's not a player of the great game?there are a few women to choose from in here:

ErrolTheDragon · 03/08/2020 13:29

Haven't a clue what I did to that link ...

Thelnebriati · 03/08/2020 14:01

It was supposed to be in the spirit of the game.
