AIBU to say this board is much busier than it used to be? I'm really thankful for this sanctuary of wisdom and wit and so pleased there are more people here adding their two pennyworth.
Ive been here for about three or four years and very much a lurker. Would love to hear what brought other people here!

I can't remember how I found myself on this board; I'm just glad it happened. I've learned so much over the last year or so. The links to blogs, articles and Twitter threads are much appreciated and I'm grateful to everyone who posts here.

I’d just bloody had enough of the bullshit.
It wasn’t just that there was so much of it, it was the fact that no matter how weird, extreme or just plain hateful it became, questioning it was an act of heresy, and the heretic must BURN!

Tbh, I have a problem with a lot of what currently constitutes the social justice movement. Not that I don’t agree with its basic aims to improve people’s lives, but the rhetoric, the hypocrisy, the deliberately obscuritan pseudo-academic language, the misdirected hate... and it’s so obviously not working. For all the volume generated by the woke over the last five to ten years, look at our actual government, and not only here but abroad as well. If any of this postmodernist crap worked we’d surely be on our way to better things? I honestly believe that atm it’s fuelling and emboldening the right and far right, and those who embrace it are either misguided or downright dishonest. I don’t think being publicly woke automatically makes you a good person, in fact it makes you part of the problem.
