I was sympathetic to her the first two times though Lass

This time though she RT something critical of JKR which is baffling. Surely the best thing if she didn’t want to call down the world of pain she’d experienced before is just to not say anything but she didn’t, she poked the hornets nest & I don’t get why at all.

On the positive side, she's due to appear in a play which has been postponed because of COVID. It'll hopefully go ahead with the original cast, because one of her co-stars is Frances Barber and I'm sure they'd have lots to chat about

Instead retweeted an account dragging down another woman, TRA enemy number 1, possibly for a quick 'look at me capitulating' win. Nope.

Don't deal with getting a load of shit off Twitter by retweeting an attack on another woman who is also getting a load of shit 😐

I agree and I think she's realised that and maybe that's why she's deleted her whole account. It was a shitty thing to do.

I pretty much agree with others here, that I can understand why Amanda capitulated, but think it was cowardly of her to stick the boot in to JKR while she was at it.

I'm starting to get really sick of this constant fear of being "cancelled" famous people seem to have. If enough of them took the JKR route - adopted a compassionate but concerned stance and refused to deviate from it despite the Twitter hysteria - gender criticism would gain legitimacy as a point of view and the mob would lose their power to bully people into silence.

It can't come fast enough for me. I really do think JK Rowling has done a lot to cement her legacy with this, and history will judge her kindly for it. Other people will be struggling to live down some of their own comments in ten years' time.

Just read her Instagram post. What exactly was she expecting? She sold us out and they will never forgive despite the grovelling.

That is a very disingenuous post of Amanda's on Instagram.

I can understand her protecting her career, but not by putting the boot in to JKR when she clearly agrees with her. Now all she has managed to do is piss everyone off.

It's all very strange, why has she been targeted so viciously, is it literally because she is a woman (and a not particularly 'powerful' one at that - in a difficult industry, has already publicly had financial difficulties)?

Yes my issue with it was that she trie to redirect the mob to another woman (who's already getting rape and death threats) to save herself. That's low.

And it'll never be enough for the TRAs. Anyway, they don't want her to actually believe that TWAW, their aim is for her to be so terrified of them that she starts doing their dirty work for them, bringing other women down, so they do have to look like the bad guys and so other women watching are too scared to ever speak.

Pretty stupid to burn her bridges on both sides. I suppose she just panicked.
