It's extraordinary how attempted censorship can be simultaneously both sinister and positive.

I loved popping over to the Standing for Women website this morning and giving a contribution to the billboard/'birthday gift' for JKR as well as a message of encouragement.

Well played, Posie!

yestheyhavethesamedad · 30/07/2020 09:11

Wonder if the protesters will complain about the ickabog book , they have on twitter to waterstones but the proceeds go to charity

DialSquare · 30/07/2020 09:13

This had just reminded me to donate to Standing For Women too.

AbsintheFriends · 30/07/2020 09:15

Can someone on Twitter post the clip of Dr H's TV 'involvement' with Posie in his replies?

Obviously he's going to be glad he didn't have to embarrass himself a second time.

BaronessWrongCrowd · 30/07/2020 09:17

I ❤️ JKR

Cismyfatarse1 · 30/07/2020 11:04

It is worth watching. Again and again.

thanks didn't realise it was Standing for Women who did it - have sent a small donation for the joy of seeing that poster

WhatKatyDidNot · 30/07/2020 11:42

The woman is a master tactician.

And TRAs learnt absolutely nothing from Posie's 'we knew chaps like you would object' speech.

Exactly. And every time they fall for it, another several thousand normies wake up to what's going on - you can just hear the chorus of "WTF? Now, just hang on a bloody minute!" can't you?

I want to be Posie when I grow up.

xsquared · 30/07/2020 11:51

That Adrian Harrop is really unhinged in that video.

KingFredsTache · 30/07/2020 12:15

I will never get tired of watching that video! 😂

Aesopfable · 30/07/2020 12:38

It is worth considering that under the SNP's new hate crime law that poster/ad would probably be a criminal offence!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/07/2020 12:41

Just seen #IStandWithJKRowling is trending again in Arts and Culture

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/07/2020 12:44

TRAs won't allow anyone to advertise the new Robert Galbraith books, I bet.

I can imagine they will refer to that stupid conspiracy theory they've made up about the name. Hope they have deep pockets because it won't just be JK involved if they disrupt publishing launch campaigns etc.

buckeejit · 30/07/2020 13:07

Can't believe they took it down! Great poster Smile

Very biased piece in the independent. Have tweeted them if anyone else feels inclined

xsquared · 30/07/2020 14:38

@Daughterofmabel

I wish they'd stop using cis as a word. It's becoming mainstream and in a "reputable" paper as well.
StandUpStraight · 30/07/2020 14:59

Hmm. I don’t think the independent is reputable anymore. It’s going for pure click bait. They had a shocking article written by a TRA a month or so ago about how the government is “mandating state violence against trans people” by failing to reform the GRA. It was pure emotive assertion unsupported by fact, including as to suicide stats. I complained and got a patronising lecture about free speech.

WhatKatyDidNot · 30/07/2020 16:15

Can't believe they took it down!

I can. They were supposed to take it down. That was the entire point of paying for it to go up. I wish I had Posie's PR skills, I really do.

DickKerrLadies · 30/07/2020 16:17

@Cismyfatarse

It is worth watching. Again and again.

Just experimenting on whether if I quote this the video appears again. Don't mind me Smile
DickKerrLadies · 30/07/2020 16:18

Ahh, lovely!

As you were.

OldCrone · 30/07/2020 16:19

From the Independent article:
In a statement, a spokesperson for Network Rail said: “The poster in question is against our code of acceptance for advertising in our stations owing to its political nature. We do not allow advertising that is likely to support or promote one viewpoint over another.”

If it's against their code of acceptance, why did they accept it and put it up in the first place?

JamesArthursEyelashes · 30/07/2020 16:22

I can’t stand Posie but fully support everything JKR has said.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/07/2020 16:25

Hmm. I don’t think the independent is reputable anymore. It’s going for pure click bait. They had a shocking article written by a TRA a month or so ago about how the government is “mandating state violence against trans people” by failing to reform the GRA.

And they published that awful Nadia Whittome article.

CasuallyMasculine · 30/07/2020 16:29

@JamesArthursEyelashes

I can’t stand Posie but fully support everything JKR has said.
She doesn’t seem to be particularly bothered whether people like her or not.

Which probably drives the TRAs mad. I doubt they can comprehend the idea of not wanting or needing validation.

Jeeeez · 30/07/2020 16:36

Details of where to complain to Network Rail are on this thread:
